History's Heroes - what is it about their personalities which made them admired down the ages?

These are just three very different figures who have come to stand for qualities which have been revered down the ages. You could add religious figures like Muhammad or Jesus (peace be upon them) who have certainly also inspired down the generations.

Do they really deserve admiration or did history determine they would be looked on favourably as opposed to someone like Stalin or Hitler?

Simplest answer.. they emerged victorious and the present world order stems from their victories.
If by any chance, Neo-Nazis upend the world order, The schools will teach the grand visionary Hitler.

PS: Churchill is still be a villain for India and Pakistan.
