In the UK the lockdown started 24th March.

I feel frustrated not being able to travel, go gym and football.

There is no other change in my personality, I am the same as I was before.

Are you stressted, snapping at people, getting angry, feeling mentally tired, sadness, depression, anxiety etc?

I want to be more patient with people esp in supermarkets, out exercising or friends/family who may act or say something stupid in current cirucmstances.

I stay happy and relaxed because I dont stay in, I go out training, go out to work , go out to the supermarket everyday. I believe in God and also remember the bigger picture, I've been blessed with more than most in every area.

How do you stay upbeat?

I hate it and I am not taking it too well but keep it within myself and I don't really snap at people. Well, I may have a few moments :)

There are many reasons of why I hate it:

1. I am a very social person who would never sit home but see family and friends. Corona has made me stay home; my current routine is: work, excercize outside, sleep and repeat.

2. I had a plan to go self-employed and I was looking forward to that. Unfortunately, corona has left my plans all in between.

3. I was meant to go on holidays after the busy period of work. The holiday plan was cancelled. Annoying because I hardly took any time off due to these vacations.

4. Financial insecurity scares me, I feel under pressure at work to perform better then ever as I don't want to lose my job. I do not particularly enjoy my job but that's another matter.

5. I wanted to get married in 2020, looks difficult now.

6. Lastly, I spent a lot of my time in the gym; not been able to go has really increased my weight, loss muscle and strenght. Now am adapting with excercising at home but understand that the gyms may not be functional for a very long time.

7. I hate to see people suffer; especially poor people and poor countries. This is happening now. We have no answer to the virus so this will go on potentially for a long time.

Thats me in a nut shell. Alhamdulillah for what ever I have as Allah SWT has been kind. There are people worse off. I am not complaining but portraying my situation. And how I stay upbeat? I am really passive generally and remain so; not upbeat :)

I don't know if I'm helping in flattening the curve, but I'm definitely fattening a curve.

Stay blessed bro. Im also very social and have been addicted to the gym for years.

Consider buying a speedball. It's not easy but it gives you something to work on and once you become decent, it will give you a lot of enjoyment if missing the gym.

Well, I have a massive punching bag in my garage but no gloves. I need to order some gloves in asap. I used the bag without gloves, the passion was too much, ended up with cuts in my knuckles unfortunately.

Having to go though this situation, I have decided that when I make my own place in Pakistan; I will make a good sized outside gym on the roof. Need a full range bench, a lot of dumbbells and a bar minimum.

You dont need gloves for a speedball bro. Use the side of your hand and it's all about rhythm.

Good idea but might be a bit hot unless you only want to train at night?

Worked so hard for the cricket season in England. It’s always the highlight of my year, months April til mid September. This lockdown came at the wrong time tbh. We have had a winter of staying indoors and hardly much outdoor activity. I don’t play football anymore so I have just been work, gym, friends, family and cricket training. Looks like we will get maybe 1 month of friendly cricket in August at most.

UK Government is the worst in all of this. I don’t mind a lockdown, I need to see an exit strategy that they are working towards. They give nothing away and it seems like this lockdown is going to continue for another month after 3 weeks.

Are you frustrated, angry or just bored at the government?

Thanks, I will have a look at the speedball option in shalllah :)

I normally train early morning or late night bro.

Frustrated at the Government. Angry with the Media. I think this Government is too week and just follows other countries, whilst easily coming under the pressure mounted on them by the news outlets.

Just look at BBC and Sky news now. 5 weeks ago, all they were reporting was the scary situation in Italy and using this as a means to spread fear amongst the British public. Today we do not see any regular reports shown about Italy and Spain. Now they have changed their narrative in which they will force the government to slowly lift the lockdown and open the economy.

Sky Messed up big time here. They have lost millions of £££ due to live sports being cancelled. Their stupidity has caused their own downfall. Or maybe they had it all insured?

Either way. This government has proven that we are not better than these EU countries who we are disassociating with. We are so, so terrible it is unimaginable

I'm not angry per se but very much not happy. I was proud to have developed and for following a very efficient schedule in which I was able to manage gym, a heavy course load of school and work.

Now it's been a month, I have not fully worked out (I have two 30lb dumbells but they are not able to emulate anything relevantly close to a gym workout), my sleep schedule is a bit whacked out and some professors have basically given up.

I'm hoping my state will open the gyms towards the end of May, otherwise, I'm not sure what else to do.

Valid frustration.

Personally I have no faith in this government and expected this. Stay blessed bro.

Do you work on your cardio too? If so, do you skip? This is a great means to work on your cardio with little room needed. Its also a good challenge to see how fast you can go over time.

I run on a all-weather running track with headphones and music. It doesnt matter what the world is , I'm in a different space. The mind is a powerful tool. Stay blessed bro.

I used to run cross country in high school but haven't ran much ever since. After the gym shutdown, I went for a few runs and was pleasantly surprised. Now I'm thinking of running and cut down on body fat percentage rather than try to bulk up.

Catching up on all the video games i haven't been able to play in the last ten years and catching up on tv serial. Time flies before you even notice.

How do you stay upbeat?

I try to get exercise every day - go for a walk or ride my bike. I deliver food from the supermarket to self-isolating people.

The problem I face is the feeling of powerlessness - there is no work to do and no real way of getting any - meditation helps this.
