I have always been passionate about Arts especially acting. I have played strong characters in drama plays at my secondary school and have genuine talent in this field.

I live abroad and am a young person. I have a great interest in Pakistani films especially Shaan Shahid and Babar Ali movies. I want to revive that era in the Pakistani cinema. As my acting skills are similar to them.

Coming from abroad i want to bring fresh ideas and skills to help rebuild the industry and forge my own career there.

But i don't live in Pakistan and wanted to know how i can join the industry?

Pakistani drama industry seems more elitist/ nepotistic than lollywood.

My concern with working in the drama industry is that my star quality will go down from the start. If i get a chance in a film and do well, every other drama serial would want to cast me.

I think at the moment, the Drama industry is the real industry. Film producers are casting drama serial hit actors. Any chance of you going to Bollywood from here will be from a break away hit drama series. Then again, I believe you have to belong to a certain class background to get your breakthrough

to need to work in pakistan film industry, you wont dont have to be an actor.

You need a pretty attractive face, be a model and you wil get an acting gig. Thats how our actors are.

Be careful of the casting couch that has also started in Pakistan no jokes.

"star quality?"

Any projects you have worked on that we can view to watch it?

I meant in the sense that i see myself as far more talented than the current lot. I can confidently say the audience will think of me as a superstar on screen. Being cast in dramas early on will reduce the aura around me.

Please provide a link or video for the posters so we can witness your extra ordinary talent

But based on what?

Have you gotten rave reviews for any acting you have done even at a much smaller level?

I remembered an earlier thread of yours so went back and checked )http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...nd-of-the-darkness-Need-life-help!&highlight=)

You mentioned you are not very good socially and a bit awkward with no friends. I thought your parents wouldn’t allow you to go out of the house for just chilling and now you’re saying they’ll give you a thumbs up for pursuing a career in acting?

While The new found confidence is good to see there’s a fine line between confidence and delusion which you need to think about.

The whole industry, drama and lollywood, is all nepotism. You have to be someone's son, daughter, relative to get a feature. Unfortunately that is the case these days where 99.99% people we see on TV are there because of a relative/mother/father who worked or works for the industry.

Bollywood is no different.

There is very high level of narcissism in your post. Great actors do not go for aura. The aura follows them due to their work. If you are going in to a profession for glamor, you won't last long.

Looks like we have an expert on our hands who is knowledgeable about the on goings within the industry and can provide insight on what it takes it make it. Please do share more insight.

Being mean isn’t the intention. But I think sometimes people need to be told to get a reality check before they get into something impractical and screw themselves over. Ofcourse after having thought through it and it still makes sense then best of luck.

I think you're basing your understanding about the industry from bollywood. In Pakistan it is the other way around.

Do you have a portfolio? Do you have links to the work you've done? I'd suggest you start off with doing a photo shoot and building a portfolio and then sending it across to the talent agencies in Pakistan. However, for that you'd have to move to Karachi as that's where most of the work is being done these days.

Uh casting couch? One a serious note, you have to network and find a way to knock on the doors of the top producers, directors, actors. The struggle is thankless. Get into stage acting to show your talent if you have it. Also work towards your fitness and physique and dancing skills as these are the contemporary demands

Lol, there is a massive influx of videos, bold modelling pics and messages on Instagram "DM me for collaboration" because this is how talent agencies, producers, directors find talent.

A producer/director saw Naimal Khawar's pics on IG and offered her a role in his tv serial. Lol, my wife received a similar invite on IG, she showed me a screenshot of it, she turned it down but this is how the opportunities come

if u want to work in Pakistan film industry, you have to work in Tv industry first, on tv you will get the recognition in few months of time if you gt a good role and thn more tv projects will come for you and gradually you will get the attention of the producers of film industry which mostly belongs to tv industry as well, thres no short cut to go direct into film industry.

you star quality only be to judge by what work you have done on Tv industry, if you got famous on tv, thres no stopping, also you will get the handsome amount of payment with each project you will complete.

Why don't you start a youtube channel and showcase some of your talent to begin with? Grow an audience of your own and then take it from there.

Its incredible how much the drama, showbiz and fitness industry has changed where now college and university graduates are seriously considering that its worth their while as opposed to working in the corporate world. This was unthinkable 10-20 years ago.

If this was something you knew you wanted to do and you had the looks, acting skills then why not go to an Arts school from the beginning because you would have had many opportunities to showcase yourself there. Secondly you say you are coming from abroad? Will you be okay in earning with PKR?

Don't know if serious but if you really wanna peruse a career in the industry as an outsider , your best bet is be Youtube famous!. I mean I do have some connections in the industry and pass along your details to the right people but TBH if you don't have any body of work behind you don't expect to get any work right way .

I am not sure how serious you are but if the goal is to be famous and appear in showbiz, it's not that hard anymore for anyone who has access to social media.

Create an Instagram profile, a facebook page, a twitter handle, a snapchat account, a tiktok, and a YouTube channel and work on your socials. If you are good enough, within months you will be reaching masses and become pretty famous. Once you reach a certain level, people will be after you anyway.

Also if you don't want to go this route, the modeling route is still pretty open where you have to create your portfolio and keep sending it to agents. Channels are always on the lookout for new and fresh actors that can be cast in television shows.

It's rare that someone gets cast in a movie directly, there's too much financial risk involved for such a situation to happen unless you are able to produce a movie yourself or know someone who is a producer and willing to take a punt on you.

Start small with a clear real objective and see how far you can go. Best of luck in your journey.

Is it easier to make it in the Pakistani showbiz and film industry in comparison to Bollywood?

The industry is basically burger NCA kids now. Unless you know someone your chances are slim to none. This guy I know was hooking my up to get on a show but my mom stopped it . this is when I was 16.

Fairly easy if you know people . Its a smaller population compared to India and chances are that you'll know somebody that knows somebody .Its much more easier for women to make it since its still considered "bad" for achee gharanoon ki ladkiyaan -mindset . Also, since we have SOOOO many TV channels now pretty much anyone trying to be on TV will get their chance . They need people !

Has to be a supply demand issue. I think the competition in Bollywood and India is ten times tougher

For sure , I am sure nepotism plays a big role in Bollywood as well. I do fell there is an oversaturation of TV channels in Pakistan. Another thing that has become a normal practice is that people are making pilots or whole Drama series and then go looking for a buyer .

You need connections. My cousin was able to become an actor cause his dad was a high ranking army officer and knew a lot of people in various industries, it's common for army officers to throw parties and invite celebrities so that way he was able to network and get a break. Looks and interpersonal skills also helped seal deal. Unless you got that type of connection, it's going to be really difficult.

go and make your own films, its not like theres a tonne of films to be cast for.

I have a big Tiktok following and am a big star. I will take Lollywood by storm.

Ok can you post some videos of your tik tok work ?. Would your parents be ok with this ?. I recall you were going to join an Islamic Gym or something like that because your parents didn't want you interacting with females ? I could be wrong, it was on a thread you made a while back ...

Btw becareful of the casting couch in showbusiness, a lot of directors and producers as well as agents prey on men and women. The entertainment industry around the world is full of misdeviants.

I see the issue now....

Tiktokers couldn't even defend themselves against youtubers in the greatest Tiktokers vs youtubers battle.

Taking lollywood by storm.... Smh.

Visit the National College of Arts in Lahore for any seminar, meet the people, show your portfolio, and go to the offices of production houses in Lahore and Karachi in person for audition.
