How come the current Indian team lost to this weak South Africa side?

Not long ago, India toured SA for three tests. After the end of two tests, the result was SA 2-0.

It was the Indian team that many believed that had the best pace bowling attack ever.

An Indian team which had Kohli and Pujara in great form.

No. 1 ranked team for almost last 2.5 years.

Discuss!

They easily beat Australia at home and had the best bowling attack in the world, so they were hardly a weak side.

India lost due to mainly 2 reasons: AB and Kohli (for selecting the wrong players).

Because: -

1) AB de Villiers
2) Vernon Philander

One was the players of that tournament for SA while other, many believed was equally deserving player of tournament as well.

Who believed that?

Because we lost toss and had to bat second. And because SA had AB Devilliers

That's not the point. We are a number 7 side and are competing with them well. India is supposedly the best team in the world.

Yes they are the best team and hence can compete against any team in any conditions.

ABDV saved SA in the pivotal 1st test. Bhuvi reduced SA to 10/3 and then had a crucial catch dropped when SA were 5/140. SA ran away to 300 odd and India ended up losing the test.

ABDV and Philander were massive factors in that series - neither is playing.

Add to that, idiot Virat dropped Bhuvi for the 2nd test even though Bhuvi was the best bowler and 2nd best batsman in the 1st test.

India comfortably beat SA in the last test, and they were the stronger team. Went on to totally destroy SA in the 6 ODIs after the test series as well.

Add ABDV and Philander here. SA was weak, but much better.

Don't worry. You are still going to lose this match even after many players are missing from this SA team.

Do you actually have anything positive to say about Pakistan in any thread?

Simply because they are not good enough. This is despite them receiving a subcontinental track in Centurion thanks to an inexperienced curator and hot, dry weather.

South Africa was not as weak then.

Simply because of their batting. The first test they only had to chase I think 205 to win or something like that.

They could not negotiate the pace bowling and conditions well.

This SA team, despite no Philander, Ngidi, are still a pretty damn good side. Rabada is the best bowler in the world. Olivier is as good, if not, presently, better than Ngidi. Steyn still isn’t that bad. (Injured against India) ABD is a big miss. Damn, I miss that guy. Faf, Elgar, Bavuma are still quality bats. Wild card De Kock at no. 7. Youngster Markham.

They could easily win this test match. Your post is very premature and incorrect! Troll thread?

Philander though, could be too tough for our players when he recovers... Hopefully Pak’s pacer recovers as well.

I had the same question earlier. It just proves how fake the rankings actually are! India is the most undeserving #1 side ever. Can’t even win series against weak English and South African sides at their worst.

Inability to polish off the lower order.

1st test - Got them at 142/5, dropped a catch allowed SA to double the score to 286. Failed to chase 205 in 4th innings (should not have been a run more than 150).

Anyways that was past. To those still hurting from our number 1 rank, well we are so bad, come push us down from that spot. It's all for the taking of truly great sides (many of which struggle to win even at home) who sadly are being denied the no. 1 rank by BCCICC.

England side is weak?

Their batting never ends and Anderson/Broad are lethal in their conditions.

SA had in Elgar and Markram openers who are 40+ test average players. A top/middle order of Amla, ABDV, FaF, and Kock. And a bowling unit consisting of Steyn, Philander, Morkel and Rabada.

Okay India should have done better (sums up pretty much all their tests in SENA nations) but that SA was not as weak as some people are making out.

I think all the little things went South Africa's way.

Toss
AB
Philander

Obviously much superior to the lineup Pakistan is facing right now.

This thread is equivalent of asking why England lost 4-0 in Australia but India are doing well. Leaving aside trolls, it should be obvious to anyone intelligent.

They just beat SL 3-0 who beat Pakistan comfortably in the UAE. Says a lot about some of these fans' understanding of the game.

ABDV. People cannot underestimate his influence. He was amazing in that series where batting was pretty tough.

Coz the Indian batting as expected struggled on South Africa's bouncier tracks.

AB's 65 & 35 in first test turned the game for SA and then in 2nd test, his 80 also came when mattered.

So, he got his runs just when it was the need of hour and changed the game/series on its head.

AB's genius, lost 2 tosses, bad team selection, too many dropped catches (Parthiv Patel ), arrived 4 days before first test and didn't even have an outdoors net session due to rain, Ravi Shastri

AB Deviliiers, Philander, Ngidi, Morkel ... that side was far better.

And India lost 1-2, not 0-2.

This fact kind of undercuts the troll india part so OP following the trump philosophy of ignoring facts that don't suit your agenda.

We shouldn't have called this team weak before winning against them lol

Choked.

Could have been 3-0 in RSA & 4-1 in India's favour in England.

3 key players down, lost the toss, and this "weak" South African team is about to wipe floor with Pakistan.

I am afraid men in Green will witness the same fate against "the weakest Aussie side ever" too.

Lesson learnt- never make such type of shamless threads trying to taunt the indians before we win the match ourselves. How embarassing is this thread after getting thrashed by south africa in this match?

If only people learnt from this, Akmal vs Kohli is another example, i am sure there must fair few threads of indians bigging someone up only to fall flat on the face.

I am sure the OP would be feeling absolutely humiliated and will never show his face on this thread again.
