How come these players don’t get the same mention as some of the other greats?

I believe some of these players don’t get the same recognition as some of the other greats in the history of cricket. Either they are deemed underrated or just played under the shadows of other greats. Damien Martyn, Shane bond and Jason Gillespie are some of the names that come to mind. Shane bond was fast and furious and a match winner. In his short career, he picked up 87 wickets in 18 tests at the average of 22. His ODI stats were just as impressive if not more. In 82 ODIs, he picked up 147 wickets at an average of 20.

Damien Martyn, unfortunately for him, played when the Australian team was loaded with talent. He still managed to make his mark and ended up averainge 46 in tests and 40 in ODIs.

Lastly, Jason Gillespie also played during a time when Australia had the services of Glenn Mcgrath, Bret Lee and Shane Warne. It was tough to break into the team. Yet, he made the most of the opportunities he was given. I remember him bowling regularly at around 90 mph with great control. He picked up 259 wickets in 71 test matches at an average of 26, and in ODIs, he picked up 142 wickets in 97 matches at an average of 25.
I believe these are just some players that don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Please feel free to share any other names that fit into this category.
