Steak can be eaten in 5 ways - rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well done.

How do you like your steak?

I personally prefer medium or medium well.

If it’s a rare occasion and I have a really expensive steak then I’ll get medium

Rare - anything over medium rare is a steak wasted.

and no rare is not dangerous, A STEAK IS NOT MINCE, bacteria only exists on the outside not inside, therefore its perfectly safe.

Never tried rare. It looks disgusting. Red in the middle.

How does it taste? Does it taste like raw meat?

I definitely prefer my steaks medium well done with Worchester sauce .

FYI, For those who want to make steak at home, before cooking it season it on both sides with salt, put it on a plate then cover it with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for an hour so. Then take it out at and let it come to room temperature before grilling it which IMO is the best way to make a really delicious and flavorful steak. Another alternative way to cook steak on the stove (if one doesn’t have access to a grill) is to cook it in an iron skillet - just be sure to add fresh garlic and a good helping of butter during cooking and when done I prefer Worcestershire on the side.:19:

Dont be silly, the more you cook the meat the more flavor you kill.

the only thing disgusting is well done steaks with no juice or moisture.

Its tastes like heaven on a plate, tender meat with juices flowing everywhere.

I see. I may give it a try.

I am not a fan of well done also. I generally pick medium.

Depends on the cut...

If it’s a fillet steak then rare..
Ribeye Medium/rare
T-bone - medium

Veggie these days.

Used to have it well done, as the less it looked like a bleeding piece of muscle the better.

For steaks if its BBQ I like mine somewhere between medium and well done and restaurants medium. For burgers it would be medium.

Medium rare.

Anyways, I find steak overrated and never understood the obsession with it.

Medium to well-done.

I would be intrigued to know from the Indian posters, how do they like their Steak?

Always wondered what the fuss was about steak. It's ok, but kind of bland. Maybe because the places I tried were halal so they just didn't know how to cook it right. Akbar's Cafe was one place, I'm sure the mushroom sauce they used was one of those packets you get at Asda for about 50p.

No it has nothing to do with Halal places, I've been to many popular Steak joints around North America and they all taste bland compared to our desi beef dishes.

I'll have it only once in a while, but mainly during work trips

Just so we veggies don't feel left out, someone must invent a paneer or soya steak, to add to the glorious innovations like the veg biryani, veg haleem and soya nihari.
