Mixed feelings about what he meant for Pakistan but I feel he did a good job given the roles given to him.

My only criticism is about his bowling action and how he dealt with it.

Anyways lets hear your views on this poll

Add your verdict guys, we have a live poll added now.

Good.

He should had improved as a batsmen. Any movement in the pitch and he was a goner.

He was a big factor when it came to bowling as a 5th bowling options.

By how much degree was hiss bowling off by?

Also another factor that makes me like him was he was not emotional. He did not go running to media for every problems he faced. Plus, he never sold out his country for money. Him, azhar ali and misbah showed there reservations against fixers. Hafeez showed it publically which deserves alot of respect.

In asian conditions I would give him a 8/10.

Wish he had moved down the order early on in his career. Hafeez needed a good captain to realise his potential and suitability which he never got.

6/10 he wont be in any all time list discussion for pakistan

But he had a long fruitful career with some decent performances mixed in his ok stats

He did good at times but wasn't very consistent.

I would say he was a good LOI player and an average Test player.

Hafeez was a man of purple patches. In his good times, he looked absolutely sublime. I mean his shots just were so incredibly classy. 11 odi centuries is considerable, especially when it comes to Pakistani batsmen. Not to mention how he would then contribute as a front line bowler too. He even scored big test runs during these purple patches.

However the reason Hafeez’s stats don’t reflect the above is because in his low points were really low. He was so bad that you wouldn’t believe he knew how to hold a bat. He became, for example, Dale Steyn’s bunny at one stage of his career - Steyn would only have to look at Hafeez and Hafeez would lose his wicket. And then at the same time, his bowling contribution would be nothing at all. And these lows would continue for just as long as the highs.

Thankfully for Pakistan, the Hafeez of late has been the first type - the one who makes big, important contributions. It’s a shame he hadn’t been this consistent his whole career, as he would be ending as an all time great if he had.

As it stands, he finishes as a very good limited overs cricketer, with particular excellence in T20s. He isn’t in the same league as some of our all time greats, but he has nonetheless been a fantastic contributor to our success. I for one will miss him.

I would rate him as a good cricketer overall and one who was very handy in the latter part of his career in a side which was struggling to gain traction in the LO game. Abov and beyond that, he was also a great ambassador to the game.

For someone who was highly rated by his peers in 2003 and showed glimpses of a real talented batter, to end up with the career he has isn't a bad. Its just, there were more expectation place on him.

Was a below average international cricketer overall. He made an impression to be a useful cricketer which prolonged his career with the help of his bowling which was nothing but chucking . Any average cricketer who has such a long career and given so many chances would learn something and his batting did improve to some extend after a decade or so in international cricket , but only against average bowling.

Overall a below average cricketer who was lucky to have a long career. Should have retired 5-6 years ago .

A good white ball cricketer who blossomed after his second coming into the team after 2010, could look a million dollars on flat pitches .

Was never test quality opener in sena , was a walking wicket against any decent pace bowler

Stop making stuff up about Misbah. He did not oppose fixers in the side

Good player but seemed crippled with self doubt at the early stage of his career and then over compensated and became over confident at times.

I have been a fan of him as a player, especially in Asia and he was a very canny all rounder for a short period of time before he repeatedly got called.

He does try and be over clever a bit, the stunts he pulled towards the end with the covid tests and breaking bubbles were quite childish.

Overall I rate his career as a 6/10.

If you were looking at creating different All time XI's for Pakistan in Tests he would probably not figure but in ODI's he could get into a 4th XI of all time Pakistan players imo.

So I would rate him in the good - very good category. He has been a good servant to Pakistan Cricket.

5/10
A player with multiple comebacks. Knew how to use the defect in pcb to get back into the team and some great luck. Very patchy performance outside Pakistan. Just an average cricketer may be the Mohsin khan of this era.

Good in fits and starts! But never consistent.

2/10 - mediocre player who paraded as a so called international cricketer for 2 decades. FTB in the UAE, his batting away from home was that of a tail ender. failed in all ICC tournaments in LOI. people seem to think he would have bern better suited to middle or lower order is just an insult to the actual talented players we have had in those positions. seeing him end his career as a so called lynch pin in middle order in LOI games and still failing was the icing on the cake for pakistan cricket.

PCB motto since 2003 - we like to recycle rubbish and please see our poster boy hafeez as the symbol of that policy.

A quite mediocre and elongated international career, with a few good periods to show glimpses of his talent. His late power-hitting resurgence was impressive and admirable, but ultimately as a whole his career was nothing special.

He had a very good post 2010 but his initial failures dented his overall stats massively.

High quality batsman, he should have achieved much more and become one of the modern greats. At least and average of 45 in Tests and 40 in ODI

Averaged 40 @ SR 90 vs Top 5 in ODI’s from 2015 to 2019. If that’s a mediocre stat then I guess most of England’s current LOI batsmen are mediocre.

Apparently the champions trophy isn’t an ICC tournament. Take away his innings and Pakistan would’ve finished under 300.

Was ranked as the number one all rounder at one point.

Was part of a deadly spin attack consisting of himself, Ajmal and Afridi - won us multiple games from situations where we shouldn’t have won.

Give any club cricketer seven year( 2003-2010 ) of free ride in international cricket, he will become a Viv Richard and let him chuck at will and he will become an all rounder.

Performed OK for 3-4 years out of 18 years international career

he could’ve been amongst white ball ATG’s if batted middle order but his ego & seniority syndrome got the better of him , played in about a dozen icc tournaments & the CT17 final knock was his only meaningful innings even then he had the platform set, to be fair to him he did have a t20 purple patch in 19/20 but again dragged on , will be remembered as an underachiever but a smart & well spoken dude
5/10
