How good is Mohammad Abbas?

Great Start to the Test Career for Mohammad Abass Right Arm Medium Fast pacer.

The Man who wasn't rated by anyone on Electronic media including all journalists and Ex Cricketers in last 2 years with only Mohammad Asif saying some good words for him. Sums up the system, dishonesty, lack of merit & jealousy. Basically a highly Corrupt System.

Abass crashed the door of Selectors and forced them to Select him. He topped two back to back FC seasons with no pacer of any speed/height coming close to his wickets tally. Last Test player who Crashed the door of Selectors was Ayub Dogar who was a very fine Batsman but Age meant we preferred Shafiq and a certain channel created a whole lot of controversy of why Ayub was preferred over Faisal Iqbal.

Sadaf Hussain needs to be inspired by this.

The Best Batsman of his first Test Series was Roston Chase who was just phenomenal. In the decisive Test He dismissed him in the First innings with a Jaffa yes I am sorry that was a Medium Fast delivery so keep hating. In the second innings at Crucial stage of the Match he dismissed Chase again caught at slips this time where he marginally over stepped.

This is just a start. He must remain grounded and work even harder. He needs to improve his endurance & stamenna levels. If he remains committed, works harder, stays fit than InshaAllah He will do better than Rahat, Sohail, Imran, Ehsan, Tanveer, Irfan, Junaid, Wahab etc in Test Cricket and that is exactly what we need from our new ball bowler.

I have not seen Pakistani players support anyone this much in their first test series in a long time. The way each member of the team had belief in him as heard through stump mike.

I wish & pray that his form & skillset remains intact and he stays fit.

Sadaf hussain has gained weight and his run up has become a lot labored , his pace is even less than before. Looks like he has given up on the dream.

Read the latest article of Uzma Khan Wife of Misbah ul Haq. That would tell you alot about how a 37 years old made comeback to Test Team.

Its all about Inspiration, determination & hardwork. If he has that it would only take 2 months to be back in shape, rhythm and ball at previous speeds. This dip in pace is not age related but fitness & hunger related so it would take only 2 months hardwork to regain those 5-7 kph.

Last year in September I posted a tweet info at PP. Vividly remember it was Asif Khan or Afroz's tweet (Journalist's). That mentioned Sadaf Clocking 132, 134, 133, 136, 137 kph at NCA.

I saw Sadaf bowl in a One Day Cup match an year ago. He looked medium fast with some deliveries bowled in the range of 134-138 kph. Looked slightly faster than Abass. At that time he was lean but not muscular & strong so had he put in efforts like Woakes on his diet & fitness at similar age ie 26 than he would have gained 3-5 kph.

Pcb & Selectors have destroyed his confidence & hunger. He had 1st ordinary season last year and previous season to that was just good.

2 months of hardwork and he will be back in business. Majid & Mudassar will be his competitors. He has to top FC charts as simple as that.

This. Hard work, temperament and dedication are the key. Talent alone cannot make you successful if you do not have the right attitude and work ethics. Imran khan is a prime example of someone whose commitment, resilience and hard work made him an ATG.

Cricket website says he is right arm fast
This is seldom written with any bowler in pk these days .
He has got 10fers
Last season he got wickets .
I have never seen him ball . Has anyone of you seen him ball ? Anyone got his bowling videos ?

Those who watched him play for Stallions admit that he was rapid but boy despite losing pace He reinvented himself completely.

I started supporting him when he was averaging 36 with the ball in FC Cricket. In those days Sialkot were relegated to Grade 2 and Abass, Ali Imran Pasha & Waqas Ahmed all from same district/region of Punjab Pakistan were seen taking Tenfers after Tenfers in grade 2. PCB and the departments were sleeping all through those 4 years. These 3 should have been regulars in FC instead.

I am glad that Abass broke Seoectors windows to get himself selected by topping 2 FC seasons and finally He proved himself as Asif 2.0. Still I rate Asif much higher and still dream to see Asif & Abass open the bowling for Pakistan in Tests.

to be honest, abbas was selected by Misbah.

He took his wicket and the guy repaid him with a ticket to West Indies.

Selectors did nothing

I respect your opinion but I disagree.

The guy broke the door literally to get himself selected.

How many times peak Sadaf Hussain dismissed Misbah and SNGPL pacers on all sort of domestic varying surfaces but Misbah never stood for Sadaf saying he is too slow. Those who have seen peak Sadaf bowl know that Sadaf was 3-5 kph faster than Abass.

If Sadaf made right choices at right time wrt regions and departments than in his peak He could have also knocked the door of selectors by topping FC seasons when it mattered the most. (READ Sadaf threads for details)

Misbah served Pakistan well. All respect for Captain Misbah but He was no Bradman with the bat that barrometer for national selection should be to dismiss King Misbah otherwise you cannot be selected.

Misbah also did not stand for Ayub Dogar who had scored 3-4000 runs in last 3-4 reasons in FC season (more than Haris, Fawad etc etc at that time) and instead got him dropped after 1 test and preferred to carry Bhaanja again for 2 years. Misbah was strong Captain and Selectors or Chief Selectors at that time were weak 1-2 Tests wonders Yes Men.

bro what are you on about?

Misbah did stood for Ayub Dogar. He kept fighting with the selectors to get him for the South Africa series. ANd it was him who got him for the sri lanka series

And same case for Abbas, he was not getting selected and in one of the games where he took his wicekt, Misbah asked for his name in the squad selection.

Bhanja and Ayub Dogar were selected for the same squad i remember, and after misbah got the one match ban he asked for Ayub to play

Sadaf never had the work ethic of Abbas.

Misbah did not stand for Ayub after that Test. He along with selectors was equally responsible for making Ayub one Test wonder.

Last point you mentioned is indeed a fact and I am not denying that.

Sadaf never had the work ethic of Abbas.

That’s not the point of my post. We aren’t comparing work ethics here.

Sadat should have played for Pakistan when Irfan, Tanveer, Ehsan, Rahat, Imran Khan, Bilawal and Azizaz got Test caps. Sadaf deserves it more than them and he had been picked for Pak team in 2011 well ahead of others.

Rahat was eye candy of Misbah for instance. Ehsan played Test after 1 F.C. season only. Although Ehsan is talented for sure but 5 years ago he was collapsing in his delivery stride and even today he is collapsing so how would you compare his work ethics to Sadaf ? Didn’t Ehsan play for Pak ?
