How hard would it be to make the squad of an Associate team?

I have never played serious cricket...just a couple of tape ball games where I failed pretty miserably, lol. But that makes me wonder if a bunch of nerdy computer geek fobs are fairly decent at cricket...how good are the expats who play for rank Associates like UAE, Hong Kong, or Canada?

The cricket ball is different mind set than tape ball totally. I am sure it wont be that hard but you can not walk in to a squad with no experience . You would have to have something in you otherwise no real chance
