How highly do Pakistani fans rate Inthikab Alam as a coach/manager?

He was at the coaching/managerial controls for 2 out of 3 Pakistani peaks in cricket: 1992 and 2009. He has been described as a "man manager" rather than a tactical coach, which is perhaps what Pakistan always needs on this front.

How do Pakistani fans rate him, and for context - where would they place Bob Woolmer (higher or lower than him)?

I dont think he was ever a coach in the modern sense. He was always a team manager/ administrator type no matter what his official title was.

Like I said and looking at his success, is that what Pakistan needs instead of these fancy coaches (Gillespie/Whatmore/Kirsten) they go after every now and then?

Cricket has changed since then. It is a more professional game. T20 wasn't as mature a format back then too. We also had a very strong leader in 92 world cup.

We can't try and replicate those days because the rest of the world has moved on. Sure we could bring Inti back, but we would need England to start playing semi-alcoholic county cricketers, and India to go back to it's trundler days too.

I don't think so. Sachin in his autobiography wrote that once in the 89 pak tour , he nicked a delivery and no one apart from imran at mid off appealed to it. I'm not sure how freat Imran was at tactiaicn but he was a brilliant man manager, Miandad probs used to be the strategist and fair enough cause he was decent at it

I think managing javed is one thing and other members is one thing.
