How important is a spinner's role in the Champions Trophy?

Very important. Remember that the pitches are going to be flat. Not all days will your fast bowlers provide the breakthroughs. Spinners, especially the quality ones, will have to provide the control and pick wickets at crucial junctures.

Depends on the pitch. Most important will be at Lord's and The Oval.

Flat pitch in England might not support seam or swing but they do provide decent spin, so they can play a key role.

I think what you'd want from your spinner is to come and contain the runs, if they get a wicket or 2 it's a bonus. That's why I think Mitchell Santner if NZ is so good. He comes into the attack and the run flow goes down, then he or another bowler tends to take a wicket.

So overall the role is pretty important as spinners need to be accurate and contain runs when pacers will be being hit around.

I see you have the Pakistani mentality. Mash'Allah:afridi

Meanwhile, the Indian mentality is for the pacers to contain runs, while spinners come on in middle overs and provide crucial breakthrough.

Important only for a containment role.

You're not going to get turners here. In 2013 the tracks were drier and more favourable to spin because England had Graeme Swann and it was a dry summer.

Everytime there's a young dynamic player like Shadab who can generate excitement and interest in Pak cricket team , the idiotic selectors and management act as spoilers. They are trying best to destroy the confidence of Shadab and ruin Pakistan's chances.

not more important than tope order batsmen that can score at a strike rate of 90 against all opposition and hold a decent average.

They are not playing at Lord's they will only be 3 different venues for the CT - The Oval, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, and Sophia Gardens.

Pakistan is playing both it's warm up matches at Edgbaston and then playing against India and SA at Edgbaston as well.

Edgbaston does nothing for spin, we aren't playing at The Oval but Cardiff is the most spin-friendly venue in the UK so there you'd want to play both Shadab and Imad.

How do you expect spinners to take 5 wicket hauls when the ball is ahrdly spinning?

Their job is to contain runs, and take a wicket or maybe 2. If your spinner ends with 1/45 in his 10 overs you should be pretty happy.

An attacking spinner in middle overs is always handy in middle overs. But you need right attitude and bold captain to use them fullest.

Jadeja was useful in last CT.

Good Spinners will perform their role anywhere.
