Not more than first innings specialist.

Haris Sohail averages 52 in the second innings in first-class cricket.

Yet to replicate any of those performances in Test cricket, though. All his good innings so far are in the first innings. Hope he pulls through.

Oh how badly we need one of those now!

There is nothing like 2nd innings or any innings specialist. There are just batsmen. good , bad or mediocre batsmen.

A decent test batsmen full stop in our line up would be nice.

It isn’t. Get the runs in the first innings. Bat big, bat once.

I don't think there needs to be a innings specialist in tests. Anybody who excels in one innings can be excused for failure in other innings. Smith has poor stats in second innings but it doesn't matter since he's guaranteed to score 50+ in first innings, which brings the team a good total/lead.

If only we had one proper 2nd innings specialist

Very important. Someone that can play on a deteriorating pitch has patience and skill. Williamson tops the list and is a great example of those qualities

I think a batsman who values his wicket would help in any situation!

Or the one with correct mindset or awareness towards the game, kind-of like VVS Laxman or Younis Khan perhaps.

Imam-ul-Haq is the answer!

I was saying this earlier as well on the 'COI', if you know what I mean ;).

On topic, a good batsman is a good batsman, people just need to be more consistent with the bat but there does tend to be more pressure in 2nd innings

1st innings of a test is the most important though

This is hard to say. I mean we all know how much Azhar Ali values his wicket, that strike rate tells us he is just not ready to throw his wicket but at the same time you look at his performance in 2nd inning and that is poor.

Maybe change the batting order for 2nd innings? Could that solve the issue?
