Mohammad Yousaf on Salman Ali Agha in t20s
“Salman Ali Agha is not suited for T20 cricket at the moment. If he plays at No. 5 or 6 and can also contribute four overs with the ball, then he has a chance.”
Otherwise, I think he should focus on One-Day and Test cricket. His performances over the last one or two years have been very good.
He needs to focus on his own game. No one else can do it for him — he has to take responsibility himself.
In my opinion, he should step away from T20 cricket for now. If he reaches that level again, opportunities will come with time.
I don’t rate the overall performance of this team highly. Some players are underperforming, and that includes even the national team captain — which is a bigger concern.
For example, Shadab has performed well, but that alone doesn’t guarantee a place in the national team.
We don’t rate these performances because the same players were part of two or three poor World Cup campaigns in the past.
He has scored heavily in domestic cricket, even batting at No. 4 in the PSL, and has done well. He is also a good fielder.
But at the international level, you get exposed against stronger teams.
So if you want to improve, first play Pakistan’s first-class cricket, and secondly, play four-day county cricket — not T20.
If we want to improve in international cricket, we must focus on quality cricket.
You need to step away from league cricket for a while and prioritise longer formats.”
