How many Baloch have played for Pakistan?

Poor thread. such discussions breed hatred and hostility. this is pakistan's team not any ethnicity's. lets not focus on these issues and support whoever plays for pakistan. don't care if the team has 11 balochis, 11 punjabis or 0 sindhis.

How many players from Mizoram have played cricket for India?
How many players from Tripura have played cricket for India?
How many players from Chattisgarh have played for India?
How many players from Lakshadweep have played for India?
How many players from Jammu Kashmir have played for India?
How many players from Odissa have played for India?

Balochistan is about 3% of Pakistan's population. There is nobody from Balochistan who could've made it to the team but didn't because of being a Balochi. And as somebody pointed out, Balochis are more involved in football and have a decent representation there.

Jammu Kashmir - Parvez Rasool played 1 ODI in 2014. But he was unfairly dropped and couldn't do much recently. Abid Nabi played for India A and we might see Samiullah Beigh come up

Orissa - Debashish Mohanty and Shiv Sundar Das were regulars in the Indian team in late 1990s/early 2000s. Basant Mohanty might have a chance to join this list

Northeast region is mostly football crazy, although there are efforts to improve the standard of cricket there. A stadium was recently built in Dimapur, Nagaland known as "Sovima cricket stadium" and that stadium has a cricket academy for Northeast kids. Within the next 5 years, we will see some players from Northeast emerging up

I think there is a need to ‘deconstruct’ the perception of a homogenous and monolithic Punjab. From what I can see, few players in recent years are from the western or southern parts of Punjab, two relatively less prosperous parts of the Punjab. The players from Punjab generally come from the northern and central areas, but even here we must note that there have been surprisingly few Pakistani cricketers from the nation’s third biggest city – Faisalabad.*

Equally, I think I am correct in stating that no Test cricketer has ever represented Pakistan that belonged to the interior Sind. There have not been many from Hyderabad. Shoaib Khan played 4 Twenty20 matches and that is the extent of representation from Baluchistan in Pakistan's cricket history.

It may not be surprising that most players are still from the more prosperous areas of Pakistan, but surely there is a need for PCB to focus on relatively poorer areas in Pakistan, given cricket's preeminent status in the country.

I am trying to make a similar point. Balochistan is very small in population compared to other provinces. Football is the predominant sport there and they have a good representation in football team. Cricket, however, is catching up. Muhammad Asghar is already knocking on the door and there will be others soon.

Aftab Baloch could have been a Pakistan great if not for Imran Khan. Actually met him many years ago and he seemed fairly bitter

So i looked into him. If theres someone who averages a 72 with the bat against a rampaging West indies side in the 70s then he surely deserved more than 2 test matches where he didnt even get to bowl despite being a proper all rounder.

Theres many people who put failures of other players to break into a team on some lobby but this is one guy who could have had a long career if not for the lahore lobby. Im not making things up. theres actual articles from that time alluding to this

This show doing really good job of forgotten performers who didn’t get a fair chance

The Pakistan Cricket Board today expressed its sadness following the death of Aftab Baloch, who in 1969 made his Test debut at the age of 16 against New Zealand in Dhaka. He was 69.

Aftab scored 25 in his only innings in the drawn Test and had to wait for six years for his second and final Test in which he scored 12 and 60 not out against the West Indies in Lahore.

Aftab remains the sixth youngest player to make a Test debut and is remembered for his 428 (584 minutes, 25x4) in Karachi as Sindh captain against Balochistan in the 1973-74 season. In the same match, Javed Miandad, playing his eighth first-class match, scored 100 and added 174 runs for the fifth wicket with Aftab as Sindh declared their first innings at 951 for seven in reply to Balochistan’s 93 and then skittled out the visitors for the second time for 283.

Aftab ended his 172-match first-class career with 9,171 runs (41.68 average) and 223 wickets (31.62).

After retirement, Aftab Baloch served as Pakistan U19 team manager as well as junior selector. He was presently a member of the Sindh Cricket Association.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja: “I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of Aftab Baloch, who was one the most popular cricketers when I was growing. I not only had the privilege of watching him in action, but also played against him in the twilight of his career.

“As he was a close friend of my late brother Wasim Hasan Raja, I knew him well outside the field of play and always admired him for his passion, love and understanding of the game. He was gentle, friendly and caring, and had qualities that made him a widely respected and loved person.

“On behalf of the PCB, I would like to pass our condolences to Aftab Baloch’s family, close friends and the Sindh Cricket Association at this difficult time.”

It would help if we had some good pitches in Baluchistan. Many ex players do hold IK responsible for ending their career.

RIP Aftab Baloch. By all accounts a very good domestic batsman unlucky not to play more for Pakistan.
