How many speeding tickets have you received over the years?

I used to have a big problem with speeding. A few speeding tickets have forced me to improve my driving. I believe I am now a better driver due to those tickets.

Last 5 years, I have received 3 tickets. 2 are off my record now. 1 is still active.

What about you?

Thankfully haven't received one yet, but these are too common in Lahore then anywhere else in Pakistan

I see.

I think in desi countries, speeding ticket is not a big thing. In Bangladesh, you can even drive without a license. LOL.

Here in Canada, we have many road cameras. Hard to speed in major cities. There are many patrolling cops too.

“No point speeding, all that just to get somewhere 5 mins early”.

I tell myself this every time I’m doing 90mph on a 70.

Yeah. Don't want my insurance to increase.

I try not to cross 10-15 above limit. If I see a camera (there is normally a warning sign here), I slow down even further.

None in 20 years of having my licence in the UK, guess I treasure my licence and insurance over the need for speed 😏

I live in Karachi but never received any ticket but last year i did vist Lahore and got ticket on a very first day not wearing a seat belt lol

somehow none ever, lol. which is crazy considering my dad got sent to a anti speeding course for doing 35 in a 30 once, lol.

i used to drive like a maniac when i had my bimmer. they were repaving a 20 zone near my house once, no lines, no dividers, no people, no speed bumps, flew down faster than id ever admit, lolol. almost put it in someones front yard once, have had to calm down since any of my speeding tickets would go to my employer now, lol.

my last close call was 3 in the morning, coming back from a mates last year, got pulled over by a cop doing 50 in a 30. he gave me the once over, then told me since i have no history he'll let me go, but to drive safe since it was raining.

i dont really speed anymore.

That police officer was very nice toward you. I never got away like that. LOL.

A young man in particular receiving penalty points for any offence will see his insurance climb so high for the next few years they'll be sure to slow down and avoid any in the future.

I got 6 points when I was 22 and my insurance went from £1300 to £2800 the following year.- which I couldn't afford so used public transport. Quotes remained above £2000 for 5 years.

Once the points were removed (after 4 years) and you can answer that no points in the last 5 years to insurers the price comes back down to more normal levels.

Insurance in this country is legalised theft anyway. Points stay for 4 years usually but the insurers ask if you have had any in the last 5 years.

No speeding tickets for me, but plenty of parking tickets.
All too common in France, where I live. The parking police are absolutely draconian.

I have 3 points for speeding and once had to take a speed awareness course.

So twice overall.

Neither time was doing anything particularly sexy. Close to 40 on a 30 road.

I’ve only been caught once by a yellow standing camera but took the points instead of the course as it was a waste of day .

Its money generating policy , not much to do with safety .

I was lucky it was during COVID so did the course at home via zoom while "working" lol

Did it stop you breaking the speed limit again ?
Actually, both times I have been caught speeding, I wasn't consciously speeding. I got caught after travelling off a 40 road into a 30 and I just kept on driving at 40 because I was unaware. Most of our roads here are rigged to trip people up whether it is speeding or bus lanes.

But no it didn't really do much overall, I still deliberately speed on occasion.

40 into a 30. That's not a lot. That doesn't generally result in a ticket here, unless it is a camera.

My 3 tickets were for these:

1) 89 (limit was 60) --> Officer was nice and documented it as 79 instead of 89.
2) 72 (limit was 50) --> Officer was nice and documented it as 65 instead of 72.
3) 89 (limit was 60) --> Officer wrote it as 89. Didn't reduce anything.

Anyway, #1 and #2 are off my records (these get erased after 2 years). My #3 is still active.

Most limits are ridiculously low . There are 40mph roads which are like carriage ways . You have to speed esp on the motorway .

Reminds me of a story of an old uncle fella who had a old Nissan was stopped by cops on the motorway because he was only doing 30mph lol he said to them he wanted to drive safe lol

Did he get stopped for slow driving? LOL. That's funny.

Yep lol

What is the max speed limit in Canada on any road ?

It depends on the road.

Local roads are normally 40, 50, 60, and 70.

Highways used to be 100. They increased it to 110 recently.

Again, Canada is a huge country. Different provinces may have different limits. I am in Toronto (province of Ontario).

UK is not driver friendly. Cameras and cops everywhere and most of the time they don't let you off.

The new 20mph in some London boroughs really does get my goat. Generally find, its not worth driving in London anymore, especially Central. Train and tube all the way for Central L.

I assume kmh.

Its too slow on motorways or freeways .

Hence why I enjoy driving in Germany , still some roads with no limit .

I am having a bit of luck with tickets for the past 6-7 months. Alhamdulillah. I could've gotten 3 traffic tickets but didn't get any. :dav

Incident #1:
Back in November (2024), I accidentally ran a red light and there was a camera there. But, I somehow avoided getting a ticket. I think camera wasn't working there or maybe they just decided not to penalize me.

Incident #2:
In March (2025), I had another incident. I ran another red light accidentally and there was a camera again. I again did not receive any ticket somehow.

Incident #3:
In April (2025), I did a lane change which didn't impress a police officer. He stopped me and let me know. I could've gotten a ticket but he let me go with a warning (no ticket).
