With regards to Samsung Flagships or other Flagship Android phones, are there any limits on the number of OS upgrades they receive?

Usually its 2 years ie; the next 2 android versions . That too if the OEM gives the updated version for their customized skins. LG is known to be rather poor at this, samsung delays it by 6 months to almost a year. Not much idea regarding the Xiaomi/Huwawei devices. Moto gives the fastest updates .

The nexus devices seem to be the only exceptions , will need to wait and see w.r.t the Pixel Phones.

So no matter how costly the device is, it won't get Android upgrades for say 5 years or so?

Android upgrades are overrated. Every next OS is largely the same as the previous one.

Unless you're an absolute power user, you won't notice anything other than subtle changes.
