In Pakistan I have noticed it is we Muhajirs who eat the most vegetable dishes, obviously because of the Indian influence. In my home, my mom usually makes vegetarian dishes 3-4 times a week, for example right now I am having Bhindi with roti. Yesterday I had Chana curry. Monday it was was Daal Chawal. Usually on Friday, Sat, Sunday my mom makes meat dishes like Biryani, Pulao, Nihari etc....

I think other Pakistanis eat more meat? especially Pathans

I want to eat more vegetables weekly, I was highly moved and inspired by freelance bro's wonderful thread on becoming vegetarian...although not enough to actually become vegetarian, but would love to eat more veg anyway as I feel it makes for a healthier diet. Unfortunately the wife isn't good at cooking veg dishes even though she seems to think she's done a great job.

Did you just generalize about 20 million "urdu speaking" people (I hate the term Muhajir)..... I belong to the same community and my house had one meat dish and one vegetarian dish every day. Obviously some days it was just daal chawal or kichri, but meat was served atleast 4-5 times a week.

As I've grown up I have kinda kept the same tradition in my own home, meaning meat 4-5 times a week and vegetarian dishes the rest of the time.

How many are you eating a healthy vegetable option without things like dressing/vinegret - veg curry.

Be honest

Every day, preferably raw or cooked with minimum fuss. This is a recent lifestyle change, growing up in Pakistan you barely ate vegetables unless it was an add-on to some meat dish (e.g. aloo gosht, palak chicken, etc). Turns out fresh fruits and veggies are essential to healthy living.

When I'm at Uni, once or twice a day without fail

When at home, I still try to eat them once a day but the odd day I don't

I'm thinking of going vegetarian. I barely eat meat anyway.

At least 2 vegetable dishes with every main meal - usually dinner. And that excludes the lentil dishes. And frequently vegetables are added to the meats - eg stews. That's when my wife is cooking.
Fewer veggies when I cook - I can only do variations on mushrooms, tomato, beans, asparagus and carrots. Or a salad. Can't seem to get the flavour my wife manages with any vegetable.

Honestly I do, just steamed Plain veg with some steamed fish with it.

Don't taste great, but honestly I feel the difference instantly.

Stomach feels great-let out alot less gas - so much more energy, skin becomes healthy

Almost everyday but not without some sort of dressing/condiment. Usually bake them in the oven though.

Not enough, like my meat, but will aim for a higher intake for sure.

I eat vegetables daily.in india people eat vegetables daily. They eat meat occassionaly like once or twice a week.therr are few people who wud eat meat daily or like 5 times a week.

I'm a gosht khor generally speaking, but am sure to add a side of vegetables and/or fruit at some point in the day.

I have some veggies whenever I eat curry. There has to be some veggies even in a meat curry.

Everyday and that is the only thing I eat, since I am a vegetarian.

I'm not sure if you're actually Pakistani. I've been to rural Punjab and people there eat more vegetables and it's the same in rural sindh. Karachiites tend to eat more meat cause of the Mughal influence, this is the first time I'm hearing thay they eat more vegetables.

Most of the popular Punjabi dishes are made of lentils and vegetables, and chicken is the prefered meat. I've noticed Karachiites prefer beef whereas in Punjab chicken is more popular. You should have done a little more research so people can take you more seriously.

I mostly have a vegetarian diet. I eat meat only occasionally, like twice or thrice a week, that too only once a day.

You are only probably talking about Defense Karachities, My mom sides eats more meat, but my dad side who came from small town in Eastern UP they eat much more Veggie dishes, I think it may also depend on where you come from in India, Delhi/Hyderabad is obviously more meat eaters.

Veg in a meat curry is a disgusting idea, I banned my family from doing this a long while back. I bet you put potato in your biriyani as well.

veg in curry can be nice, like lady finger with chicken, chick peas with chicken.

my family makes the biriyani with no potato, but my sister who married to a mir-puri- she now makes it with potato due to his side of the family makes it that

You get half and half this way:mv I don't mind aloo in a biryani.

I know people who think like this and I think lesser of them now.

Aloo gosht, biryani with aloo, qeema kareley, all are legendary dishes with meat + vegetables.

Haleem doesn't count dude, I don't know why but I don't count it as a veggie dish.

Just something doesn't sit well with me with it being considered a veggie dish, even though "technically" it is one.

Like tomatoes being "technically" fruits but you don't think of a tomato when someone says the word fruit.

Traditional haleem has meat in it. It isnt vegetarian.

How is Haleem (Harees) a vegetarian dish, its basically meat with barley.

Harees is really bland mixture which they distribute from the Sheikhas Palace (especially the Shekiha Maryam Palace) for free but almost all Desis who get it from there also add a "tarka" to it to make it more edible.

I don't think they are legendary at all, although I will admit the keema kareley is an exeption which I do like. Keema does actually go pretty well with veg with it being a dry dish so you can have that one.
