How serious is management about this league?

We don't have a set team, we are testing new players, we just don't seem prepered.

Before sacking Mickey and dropping Sarfaraz did misbah not have any plans

If there was no plans should have misbah not worked from what inzi and Mickey had left him and improved on that rather than trying to completely change everything

So they are expected to finish at 460 to 500 points which should be enough for them to qualify for final.

Pakistan is serious. There moments where it may seem they are not, but they are. Problem is in the test arena there at atleast 5 teams with much stronger and experienced lineup.


But despite all odds, if Pakistan somehow manages to reach the finals in England, they'll have a better chance than most others teams to win it.

not serious at all. Apparently they don't care. t20 and odi is real cricket now. Test is washed up and designed for only the big 3 plus n.z and s.africa.

Pakistan need to quit test cricket asap to save face. They plan on being t20 and odi kings though as it's more popular to the average viewer. Plus the fact that less skilful players can be successful in shorter formats means pakistan are happy to focus on odi and t20.

Pakistan's main focus should be on those two home rubbers against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Those are not as easy assignments as they seem to be.

they will lose to s.africa but the rest of his post seems about right. enough for top 4 honestly. They have to absolutely thrash Lanka and bangladesh though.

Lanka won't be easy. They love playing pakistan.

This is incredibly optimistic
The NZ series is in NZ so NZ will win easily.
Also, while Pakistan will be favourites for each of the home tests, the chance that they will win them all is very low.
The optimism regarding the pink ball test is ridiculous, Pakistan won't be able to score enough to capitalize no matter how well their bowlers do

By the time Misbah is done with this team we will be an accurate replica of the indian test team of the 90’s

The only reason Misbah has this job and why a lot of folks on the forum are critical of Mickey is that he knew how to win test matches at home. Which means we’ll have bowling attacks with two or three spinners.

Pak current test team is in experienced and will take couple of years to settle down. Though they can still try to be consistent at home but away tour of NZ will be pretty tough. So by the year 2022 which will be the last year of the ongoing test championship Pak should be in much better position as a team than it is today.

Still if Pak can win its home series and away in Srl, BD and somehow a draw or atleast a match or 2 in Eng they will have a chance.

I believe we will beat Bangladesh and SA at home pretty easily. We will be competitive against Lanka and England. NZ (and Australia already) we will have almost no chance, so probably a fifth place finish.

Asad and Azhar haven't carried the weight like Younus and misbah did in their times which threw off Pakistans entire test strategy. Test players aren't made over night and the players Pakistan invested in did not pay dividends.

It also didn't help to have our test series in UAE where pace bowlers were completely nullified bowling endless overs without any results. This led to the retirement of Amir and wahab.

Now, we have a new team and people are criticising them for not being aggressive enough as they want to see the same bowling tactics as were seen in the times of Wasim and Waqar. We do not have players like Wasim and Waqar anymore therefore being aggressive without substance will not help and that's what the Pakistani fans tend to forget. For now, the time is to develop the new crop of players and provide them conditions that produce good balance between bat and bowl so our bowlers can get some confidence and next time we have to be aggressive we can actually produce results.

that's was post 2000 india team and they were very strong. 2004-2010 india was one of the best teams of its time along with Aussies.

90s team were rubbish away from home but strong at home. Much like Misbah's pakistan.

No. But the quality of cricketers of that era doesn’t exist as well. Besides as good as those 4 were, Pakistan won games against them in India
