How to appreciate the art called "Test Cricket"?

When batsman is scoring 1 run in 50 balls.

Who in his right senses would pay to watch this ? I think spectators should be paid to watch this sport.

You can't and shouldn't. This is pathetic. The way SA/Aus/Eng/Ind play their test cricket is exciting to watch. They all have strokemakers that can score at 4 RPO once the ball gets old. Even against the new ball, they're well capable of putting away the misdirected deliveries.

It's a shame Pakistan known for its flair and fearless shot-makers has come to this under Misbah.

This isnt test match cricket, don't be fooled by what Misbah's cheerleaders tell you. This is absolutely pathetic, most teams these days aim to have a runrate of 4 throughout their innings but nope not us, we are ok with 15 runs in 10 overs.

Thank you Misbah.

Pakistan and Punjab both scored 230/3 today in 100 and 20 overs respectively. Test cricket is boring.

Why are you solely using this as an example of test match cricket and not the New Zealand vs South Africa series from earlier this year?

Appreciate it by watching 8 hours every day if and when you have the time!:imad I wouldn't do that even if I could so rather catch up on the scores throughout the day.

Test cricket is an 19th century relic that is still played by England and Australia to relive their colonial heritage (they still have crown and queen). Anybody else enjoying this farce of 'sport' needs mental checkup. You would have to pay me 500 USD to watch 5 days of test cricket.

If you are into meditation than there is no better place to find solitude

Agree but I will charge on series by series basis.

If it's between England and Pakistan in England, I will charge 200 USD per Test.

If it's between, Windies v/s Pakistan in West Indies then I will charge 500 USD per Test.

If it's between Pakistan and any team in UAE, charges will be 1000 USD + 100 USD Shopping /Leisure allowance per match day.

I think the charges are reasonable considering how boring, pathetic and tedious Test Cricket is. Old Man's Sport.

I know there are a few posters that are big fans of this approach (Big Mac etc). But you can't deny that Pakistan leave a 100 runs out on the field when they bat like this. It doesn't matter who is batting but this approach not only reduces your chances of winning but actually increases your chances of losing as we saw in the last test or in a couple of the tests in Australia.

If your team has batted 125 overs in the first innings then the score should be closer to 400 not 250 especially when you're only 5 down.

With that being said, watch the likes of Major and Big Mac label me a Misbah basher. I've never been overtly critical of Misbah but scoring 1 off 50 balls is atrocious counterproductive batting.

RickyG agreed a modern Test team should bat at 3 rpo at least. When u need to bat nearly 150 overs to get 400 then that is a big problem unless u get an absolute flat featherbed like we get in UAE then you will end up making a sub par score despite the occupying the crease for so long. Also when our bats dont have spinners to feast on they are completely toothless and one dimensional.

Test cricket is still alive, don't use our cowardly team as a yardstick. Australia, India, England and South Africa play the game the way it is supposed to be played.

Don't worry, Misbah's boys will create an 8-day format called "Patience cricket"
:salute

ICC should be ashamed of its ranking system. How did Cowards XI reach the number one ranking last year is beyond me. Rubbish, boring and chicken-hearted team.

Even fishing with a rod is more entertaining than test cricket. You can at least catch some fish for food or trophy. Love the delusion of some mental handicaps that test cricket is art. It was art 200 years ago maybe. But now even sleeping is a better waste of time then watching test match. You won't get bored of dreams.

Test cricket need changes.. ICC has to make it a little result oriented.. batsmen below strike rate of 50 shouldnt be allowed to play at all.

1(50) and still going on is excellent effort when you are saving a test match.Apart from that, its simply ridiculous to bat that way with absolutely no intention of putting runs.

Day2 is over and unfortunately the score is reading 376 all out for Pakistan and 11 runs for WI.That shows where this match is going unless one team plays poorly.

Ok, I wasn't aware that Misbah played 1(50). That's beyond ridiculous unless you are trying to save a test.

It's almost 10% of entire day when batting first with rain taking out time. It doesn't matter what we have as end result of this test match here, you can't blame fans for not watching test match if you put 1(50) while batting first.

The fact that this type of **** is allowed kills any legitimacy of test cricket as a sport. If test cricket can be a sport then so is fishing at the lake. And people wonder why cricket isn't played beyond 10 nations

Australia and England play test cricket the right way.

Pakistan's batting lineup is flimsy so they resort to such torturous batting.
