How underrated is Kemar Roach?

Jerome Taylor, Jermain Lawson had some potential as well.

How has Roach lost this much pace? Does he feel that pace doesn't add that much in test cricket? He went from 90+ mph to a 78 mph bowler.

Jermain Lawson was special.

Injuries ruined his career. Had serious pace and a deceptively sharp bouncer with that weird action

Mervin Dhillon was the last great West Indian bowler who had an aura. Not saying this because he is a Jatt from Punjab.

Kemar Roach went past Andy Roberts’ tally of 202 Test wickets today - He is now West Indies’ eighth-leading wicket-taker in the format!

Seriously underrated.

His skills as a seamer are top-drawer and the way he has evolved from his early days is something that deserves to be appreciated.

He has a better bowling average than Mitchell Starc and he plays for a far worse team with largely average support seamers.

Sadly doesn't have the Big 3 media hype machine behind him.

The way he's reinvented himself since his car crash and loss of pace is a testament to his work ethic and skill.

249 Test wickets now for Roach.

Equal with Michael Holding.

Solid performer over the years.

Mainstay of Windies Test bowling and a very fine bowler.

Athar: "That one kept low."

Extremely underrated and a proper Test class bowler who has improved over time. His wicket tally will look even better by the time he retires. I just wished he played more Test cricket, could easily play up to 100 Test matches but WI don't play much. I am also pleased to see that he isn't one of those guys who likes to play in pyjama leagues but instead takes pride in playing international cricket and doing well for his team.

Roach is probably the most underrated Test fast bowler of his generation.

He would have been remembered as an all-timer had he played for the great West Indies sides of Sir Clive and Sir Viv, and his numbers would have been even better considering the dodgy nature of Caribbean wickets at the time and the biased home umpiring.

Today, he is barely talked about because West Indies is an afterthought in Test cricket. This goes to show that circumstances and external factors play as big a role in defining your career as your legacy as your own talent and skill do.

The most impressive bit is how he was able to reinvent himself after he lost his pace to injuries. Few have managed to do that successfully

He's one guy who has mastered the art of maximising his limitations and renovate himself. When he first burst on to the scene, he was bowling 145kph+ effortlessly (the delivery when he just gave up during the run up but decided to bowl it anyways at such a speed was bewildering). He could hit searing yorkers at will back then. Looked like a potential all format star back then. But then he was dropped like people do in WI cricket. Had a horrible accident. Lost his pace and place. But then came back as a much wiser bowler with new found swing. Hasn't looked back since then.

Is still arguably the wisest head in the WI team. Extremely underrated guy.

Is a very stubborn batter with a surprisingly tight defense as well.

Also suffered at home pitches from 2010-17 before WI decided to start making seam oriented pitches.

Kemar Roach is dismantling the Australian batting line. Got 3 wickets in his first 3 overs and he is still not done. What a crazy start this is for him and his team against Australia in the 2nd and final Test match of the series.
