One of the greatest and attacking matching winning spinners of all time.

Also, the father of batta bowling and a great ancestor of Usman Tariq - The modern day Batta Prince.
If u gonna use phrase loosely than say it properly.

Its watta, not bhatta. There is no such thing as bhatta bowler.

Watta comes from punjabi which means rock. Watta bowler, rock thrower.

Bhatta came after kids misheard watta.

I can't even count the number of ex cricketers and cricket pundits who called him out for blatant chucking before the ICC finally banned him.

Are you describing Bumrah? :inti

Lol the old subcontinent habit - comparison through exaggeration. For Bumrah, I’d only mention Shoaib.

In Ajmal’d case he was a chucker plain and simple. I remember his excuse post facto - that he was in an accident that resulted in his action. And he could not help it.

But his action cleared up very quickly and became normal after it came under more scrutiny. And he was never the same bowler after that.

Brother batta sounds more fun so we used to say it that way. Although you mentioned the correct pronunciation. It’s classic gurmukhi dear.

A cheat, an embarrassment for the game and the counry , his record should be expunged.

I voted poor.

To call him a cheat is incorrect. While he was obviously chucking for years before his ban, that is the fault of the ICC and not him, and many many spinners were doing it. Fact is per the law he was bowling legally at the time, even if its obvious he likely wasnt.

Had he returned from his ban and been successful he'd be remembered well, but as is, the vast majority of non Pakistani fans will see a spinner who benefitted from the ICC's total disregard for their own bowling laws and then was well below par when he returned with a legal action after the ICC got their act together and clamped down on chuckers.

Additionally from every interview I've seen he comes off as fairly bitter and self absorbed.
I'm not a " non-Pakistani" one, i'm very much a Pakistani cricket follower, a very keen one. Saeed for me created more embarrassment and shame for Pakistan with his cheating with illegal action and by hiding ( unsuccessfully ) it by wearing a shirst with long sleeves as he knew he was cheating , but he was cought and exposed.

Time and again he gave the excuse of not being able to bowl with a proper action because of an accident. The moment ICC banned him for chucking, he was able to bowl with a proper and clean action thereby losing all effectiveness.

LIAR!

Get tested and if you are chucking then so be it.. you get banned... But If you are not getting tested for obvious reasons and then you have the audacity to call others chuckers then you should probably get a life and move on Bro...

He was robbed by Hawkeye in an important game otherwise his status will be more legendary

A chucker obviously, but what I remember the most about him is that spark and badmashi in his eyes. Yes he used unfair means, but the guy was a predator by instinct.

Junaids had a great post about him,

His career has a clear pattern. He is the same age as saqlain Mushtaq, he was nothing when Saqlain was playing and achieving success. He did nothing till age of 31 and wasn't in national team and did nothing in domestics. Everyone could play him easily.

Then he developed doosra and started chucking and achieved success.

Then he got found out, got reported for chucking, went back to previous action and became ordinary again.

It's a clear trajectory of someone choosing deliberately to chuck to succeed and then being caught.

X factor bowler. His action degraded over time but at his pomp when he was clean and lethal he was the best in the business.

That spark and badmashi is still there. He thinks he was so good that world cricket conspired to ban him, and the powers that be told Ashwin and Narine to take a 6 month break so they can go after Ajmal.
With a glint in his eyes he says you can give him any bowler and he will teach him to bowl a clean doosra in 3 months. So far no board or player has had the guts to take up this challenge.

A top-5 GOAT Limited Overs spinner and a great character on top of that. One of my favorite players growing up.

Everyone remembers his bowling performances but he showed a lot of fight with the bat on several occasions too. Especially that game against New Zealand where Amir and him put up a great partnership for the 10th wicket and almost won us the game.

Hopefully, Abrar can have as much success as he did, if not more.

Why are you ranting uselessly about things that have nothing to do with this thread. :rabada2

There are no chuckers in our house. Thank you very much for your concern. :rabada2

But this about Ajmal who was a proven chucker who also lied about his arm being permanently bent because of a car accident
G g acha g... OK

The guy is good enough to put even Murali to shame.
