I was thinking of writing a research paper to boost my CV so as to increase my chancing of getting admission in a Top German University for MS

Now what I actually intend to write would be a review of a set of research paper. My focus would be to propose the best method that could be implemented for Pakistan (where the process/method is yet to be initiated)
I would basically compare there methods and support my argument from literature.

The problem I feel is that It might not create a high impact cuz no research would be carried out from my side. but still It is on an extremely important global issue and I am only an undergrad student who basically wants a publication to biff up his chances of getting admission in Universities like TUM.
So do you think that it would be a worthy effort for me?

My advice is: ANYTHING that goes on your CV is good for you.

Forget about impact, just do it if it goes on your CV.

I plan to do electives abroad next year InshaAllah. I decided not to do local electives here because a lot of people said they don’t really have much value. Regret that now because it would still have gone on my CV

I am also working on a review paper these days before I dive for proposing an improvement in existing work.

Sometimes review papers are more than useful but it really depends on the topic and quality of work.

Dont forget to add an impactful critical analysis.

Any exercise in research and documentation, no matter the impact, will stand you in good stead. If nothing else, it would show that you are inclined in that direction and that is a huge plus.

You have mentioned that you want to write a review. As a former researcher myself, I can tell you that it is often more difficult to write reviews than actual papers with real data. Not being a specialist with experience in the field, you will need to trawl through tons of published data and it is all likely to be so disjointed that it would take you a very long time to come up with a coherent story. This is the reason why reviews are usually only written by very experienced researchers in the field.

A good start would be to create your own blog and publish your findings in it. You could then send the details of your blog to websites like PLOS Blogs (http://blogs.plos.org/about/). If they find your work good enough and agree to publish it, you'll be well on your way to becoming a serious researcher.

Give it a go. All the best!

Thanks for your guidance, I actually talked to my university professors and they also said that writing a review is extremely tedious. My Final Year Project supervisor is a researcher herself, and she has said that she would get my FYP thesis published (the Equipment design part actually). She even said that there is an international conference coming in March or so, and She would help us present our work there.

you are making good effort....as others suggested...any publication in international /local journals with high impat low impact or no impact, work presented in local/international conference or any thing else which shows your interest in research in general or in a specific area is absolutely beneficial for making good impressions on faculty members
