Pakistan cricket had a golden year in 2025, lifting six trophies across formats and levels — a rare show of dominance and consistency. The senior team started strong with back-to-back series wins against South Africa: first a T20I series on November 4, followed by an ODI series win on November 11. Around the same time, Pakistan’s flair shone in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament, where they were crowned champions on November 10.

Momentum continued as Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka to win the ODI series on November 18. Just two days later, the younger squad clinched the Asia Cup Rising Stars title on November 20, showing depth in talent. The month ended with a statement win in the T20I tri-series final on November 29. From seniors to rising stars, Pakistan delivered across the board — six trophies in one month, each with its own story.

How would you rate the year overall? What stood out most — the wins, the leadership, or the emerging talent?

Cake makers are delighted all over the world!

It was a year of resurrection. Winning the Hong Kong sixes was the highlight of the year and winning the Tri series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka was the icing on the cake. Pakistan is back on track. In Farhan they found a once in a generation talent. In Salman they found a leader for the future. Babar Azam returned back to form with a century. It was also the year of spin resurrection in Pakistan. Last but not the least, Saim Ayub is going to be the next big thing.

Ramiz Raja speaking on his Youtube Channel:

“Pakistan has had a truly outstanding white-ball season. The reason it feels so special in Pakistan is that the team has secured many victories and richly deserves the packed stadiums. When expectations begin to attach themselves to a team, it means your product has stood up—it has life. At the start, it seemed perhaps the product lacked that spark, especially because at the international level Pakistan had taken some heavy blows. But what happens with good teams is that they bounce back—and Pakistan has bounced back now.”

“Ahead lie further tests: three matches in Sri Lanka before the T20I World Cup, which will be a trial of conditions, and then three games against Australia, which will serve as excellent preparation before the world cup. Gradually, confidence has grown, and with it you can see fan engagement rising and the team environment becoming healthier—winning does that.”

“One particularly positive development has been that even when superstars were benched, or regular members of the playing XI were not featuring, they still gave full support. Everyone knew chances would come, and that it wasn’t just about big names—you had to deliver performances and achievements to earn your place in this team. In that sense, a strong message went across, and the atmosphere remained very good. Nobody sulked; nobody made it an ego issue; everyone played for the team.”

“You must take responsibility for your own performance, and then play for the team. Because when the team wins, even your zero gets hidden, it becomes part of the collective success. But when the team loses, even your fifty runs get overshadowed in the eyes of the fans. In that respect, Pakistan has delivered a very fine performance.”

It was much better than 2024.

They picked up many bilateral series wins. Beat South Africa in a Test. Reached Asia Cup final.

There were positives.

Yet another trophy coming their way..... U19 Asia Cup and that too by smoking India in the final...

I think putting in hong king sixes dilutes things haha

The emerging and u-19 build good confidence for the future!

But hong king sixes....come on man

Looks like scaling great heights. Emerging Cup, U19 Asia Cup, Hong Kong Sixes are noteworthy achievements. I’m sure they’ll do well in the men’s World Cup too.

On a more serious note, that Minhas guy is a true gem of a find. Pakistan has been lacking a great opener for a very long time and I hope he’s groomed well to represent Pakistan in men’s cricket and not spoiled by conflicting coaching and politics. It’s always great to watch true talent from anywhere in the world, and goes beyond national affiliations.

average, losing a test to west indies was unforgivable after cooking conditions so much that they end up having a chance, when all you needed was sporting pitches to negate their batting. strategic failure. drawing against SA was decent, but pak had defeated SA at home in the previous series, the continuous fallability to spin is a massive concern if pak wants to keep cooking pitches.

pak had a golden chance in the asia cup, but choked, given how rubbish the rest of the asian teams are, reaching the final is also an average acheivement imo. the young teams had a good year, but its pointless unless that talent is transferred to the top level.

overall average year. plenty of room for improvement, especially strategies for home tests.

Emerging Asia cup
Under -19 Asia cup

Did I missed any other Marquee trophy?

Yes they were remained winless in ICC champions trophy at home but What a golden year for Pakistan.

Yes they lost thrice against India on three successive Sunday's in Asia cup , but definitely this is golden ears for Pakistan

:klopp :kp

No Pakistani claims it is a golden year. The senior team has been very poor.

However, emerging and u-19 winning things shows that there is potentially light at the end of the tunnel. There is promise that the coming years could get better. Nobody is over-celebrating, but it's nice to have something to look forward to.

Overall a good year that gave us some insights in to the future.

We finally had a few series trying young players and even if the team management lost their bottle in seeing it through, it showed some of our “name me someone better” that there are alternatives.

The Shaheens and U19 Asia cup triumphs have shown that there is still talent coming through.

Moreover, it is apparent to all (apart from the paid up social media individuals), how stale the white ball team had become between 2022-24. Surely babar, Rizwan, Shaheen, Rauf and Naseem should get a kick up the backside if not a kick out of the team

We need to build on some of these discoveries, nurture the younger players but away don’t be afraid to bring some in to the national side too.

Maybe read the first line of OP. :kp

I don't think pakistan played enough tests i suppose. Tests results are key. For me India was terrible this year owing to test failures at home. OFcourse cup wins are fine. But nothing tastes like test wins.

Pakistan men’s cricket signed off 2025 with sustained activity across international, development and age-group pathways, underlining progress on the field and the country’s return as a major host nation.

The year was highlighted by Pakistan hosting the ICC Champions Trophy – the country’s first major ICC men’s event in 29 years. Pakistan also hosted an ODI tri-series involving New Zealand and South Africa, while a T20I tri-series featuring Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka further showcased the country’s capability to host leading international sides.

On the field, Pakistan played 56 international matches across formats, winning 30. The T20I side enjoyed a record-breaking year, featuring in 34 matches and winning 21 wins. Under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan won bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh, West Indies and South Africa, while also lifting two tri-series titles involving Afghanistan and the UAE and later Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Selector and Director High Performance Aqib Javed said:

“Progress in cricket is never sudden. It is a slow and demanding process, but in 2025 we played more T20Is than in recent years, which helped us build depth and options. As a selector, I am satisfied with the bench strength that has emerged.”

Individually, Sahibzada Farhan enjoyed a standout T20I year, scoring 771 runs, while left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz bagged 36 wickets. Usman Tariq also registered a hat-trick early in his T20I career.

In ODIs, Pakistan won seven matches, clinching series against South Africa and Sri Lanka and reaching the final of a tri-nation event involving South Africa and New Zealand. Salman topped Pakistan’s batting charts, while Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah led the bowling with 18 wickets each.

Pakistan featured in five Tests, winning two, including drawing home series against West Indies and South Africa. Captain Shan Masood stood out with the bat, scoring 397 runs from five matches, while Noman Ali took 16 wickets in four Tests.

Pakistan won Hong Kong International Sixes tournament in Mong Kok. They defeated Kuwait by 43 runs in the final of the 12-team tournament.

At the development level, Pakistan Shaheens toured England and Australia, while also emerging as winners of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Doha. Pakistan U19 claimed the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup, defeating India by 191 runs in the final. Sameer Minhas, who scored 172 in the final, was named player of the match and player of the tournament. With the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup set to take place in Zimbabwe and Namibia later this month, Pakistan U19 are currently participating in a tri-series in Zimbabwe.

It is up to the PCB to arrange more test matches but it seems test matches don't make them much revenue so they are not interested in playing too many test matches.

I wanted to say poor but honestly I think Test team did ok in 2025. Pak drew 2 series at home which was better than 2024 performance and old spin twins gave some good moments.

Champions Trophy 25 was an expected result given the poor white ball mentality. Unexpectedly won ODI series against SL and SA.

Was happy somewhat with efforts (although not results) of T20I team. Fact that they ran India close in Asia Cup final is good achievement.

Was nice to see two young players (Saim and Ayub) win matches for Pak. They are flawed and are being broken down by video analysts but it was nice to see some kids show passion and flair.

Old TTFs Faheem and Nawaz had a mini resurgence. Hope they can deliver in WT20 for Pak unlike what Imad did in previous edition.

Very avg results. The team fell short against strong teams ie India, New Zealand

Overall, pretty bad... Nothing much to show for senior team... We did fine with A teams and U19.
