Coming on the back of extreme criticism from the media and fans, going through a bad patch and his team having their backs to the wall at 50 odd for 5 and the pitch doing all it's tricks. Another collapse on the cards and possibly a total less than 100.

However he comes out all guns blazing, putting at rest all the criticism he witnessed past few months on his form and fitness. He besides Shan were the only shining lights in an otherwise sorry Pak innings.

What was heartening to see was the way he partnered with Amir, helping Pakistan secure a position of respectability. He was not afraid of playing his natural game, trusting his instincts despite the pitch and the hostile SA bowlers.

Are we too harsh in criticizing Sarfaraz for all the hardships Pak team is going in test cricket ? Like all other batsmen he too is battling bad form and through this innings he seemed to have emerged out of it.

His dismissal is a classic representation and another example of everything wrong with Pakistan Cricket, scored 50 and then threw his wicket away wafting at one above shoulder height. Too many players in the team with the mindset score your 50 and save your spot for the next test match, no one has the hunger to score big runs.

What was praiseworthy was his attitude to fight the odds and not being intimidated by SA quick despite his side having their backs to the wall.

The fact he was smiling and happy just to get off the mark shows how low batting standards are, regardless of this nice 50 he needs to as captain and player. Shot he got out to was shocking and brainless.

As a whole I feel we have been very harsh on Sarfu. It’s not his fault that his team isn’t a team carrying Pant or Pujara. He has to lead a bunch of hacks and also focus on captaining and also playing the wicket keeper role. It’s no easy task. Along with this he does this day in and out with the other two formats as well. We keep forgetting that he single handed won us the ct2017 trophy.

Now if the team was carrying Saud, Saad, and Rizwan the outcome would be very different about now. If anything Sarfaraz at this point is the only person in the team who is playing with any passion and heart.

Wouldn't he have to go to make a space for a better keeper batsmen?

Always the players are better who are not playing. Some time it could be true, but telling that all the time is bit too much.
