So the guy bowls at 120-130

Funny how everyone e was bashing misbah for playing him low. Today he is bowling from him
 
What does criticism of Misbah playing him lower down the batting order have anything to do with the speed he bowls at?
 
so now batting order should be decided on what speed a player is bowling.

Misbah made a blunder demoting Hussain Talat - that is a fact

Talat is bowling reasonably well today - he's finally getting a chance to showcase his bowling
 
Misbah is being criticized for not knowing Talat can bat too, he is not a # 8 batsman.
 
A deceptive thread from the OP - "Hussain Talat's pace bowling" but when you read the first post this was written to take aim at those who rightly criticised Misbah for batting him down at 8.

How is giving him an opportunity to bowl have any relevance to the way he's using him as a batsman in a peripheral position at number 8?!
 
I am not in agreement with Major on this, but people have failed to understand the point that he is trying to make.

His point is that if Misbah is against Talat and does not want him to succeed, he would not have given him the chance to bowl, considering how slow he is.

His statement is prompted by the accusations that Misbah made him bat at number 8 because he has some grudge against him.

i'm not talking about speed.

the other day people were critiszing misbah for not demoting youngsters and not playing them

and yet today, Misbah chosed a youngster to bowl 3 overs. Even though he had duminy.

speed is just to tell he could bowl fast.

Exactly this!

But people will still think that their is some conspiracy with Misbah not playing youngsters.
 
Hussain Talat is nothing more than a part timer, at best, in limited overs cricket

truem he is a part timer.

but, that is good pace at UAE for a part timer aswell.

THe only place he lacks at is accuracy. This guy could develop into a great allrounder. GUy is not even a hitter, hes a proper batsmen

No one is claiming that Misbah holds a grudge against him or doesn't want him to succeed - it's about his mindset with younger players in general who has historically and still to this very day keeps pushing them down the order, hence why there is no relevance with giving him opportunities to bowl and how he utilises him as a batsman in the batting order. Let's not get this twisted.

First of all R. Raees and Shadab Khan are bowlers.
Asif Ali is a dear friend and has failed yet is promoted ahead of deserving players due to Friends XI.
Ahmad Butt hasn’t played a single match.

amad butt has played many matches in the past.

Misbah has played 3 emerging players at once aswell.

Asif ALi was an emerging player in the last 2 psl.

Hussain Talat is the batsmen playing now.

Kamran Ghulam also played but he sucked.

1) Ahmad Butt did not play many matches. He played very little.
2) What does that have to do with his poor performance and continued backing over deserving players?
3) Performing youngster that is pushed down the order.

Read the post again. When I was referring to "it's about his mindset with younger players in general who has historically and still to this very day keeps pushing them down the order", it is clear I'm referring to how he has dealt with young upcoming batsman (who are middle order players) after initial success have been rewarded with a lower batting position. There are numerous examples that have been posted on here, which I don't need to go into especially since he did it a few days ago with Talat.

I don't know if you've come across Arsenal Fan TV but you remind me of the guy called TY who continues to support Arsene Wenger even when he is making glaring mistakes that everyone can see from miles away. He was told recently that you can still support AW even if you criticise him (when due of course). Perhaps you could learn from that. Maybe you fear that if you criticise Misbah - PPers will feel your support for him will become diminished.

Yeah kamran ghulam sucked because I believe he only batted once and that too at 7 while his friend Asif Ali is an Atg.
 
HUssain Talat picked up a wicket. Not very good economy though, but could improve

Asif Ali is 26 years old, I'm pretty sure he didn't qualify to be an emerging player for any season of PSL.
 
After watching him bowled today. He seems really good compared to what I was expecting of him. I thought he was a batsman that can bowl abit. But turns out he is more than capable of bowling the full allocated 4 overs. He's got something about him, I always thought of him being in the Pakistan team as a No.6 in the LOI team as an aggressive batsman but he's more than capable of coming in as a allrounder.

You are correct, but the point in the first place doesn't make sense, because everyone knows that Talat's main strength is batting in the middle and he hasn't been allowed to do that by Misbah. Sure, Misbah giving him overs to bowl is a sign that he isn't neglecting him, but that doesn't make a difference to the fact that Misbah's decisions have restricted his chances to show his batting ability.

Is Asif Ali really 26?

I didn't watch the first innings, what was his pace like? What range was he mostly in?
 
We went for some runs today but Talat is better bowler than I expected. Everyone went for some runs today. Talat can become a good batting all rounder for the national team and can bowl 6-7 cheap overs in an ODI.
 
Had there been a 35 years old bowler, Misbah would have chosen him to bowl those overs.
 
Too much pressure applied on Misbah by PPers, Talat was sent at # 3 today.
 
He had some problems with his action and at one point there were supsicions raised about his bowling action, but he seems to have sorted that out now.
 
If we play him at #6 and Shadab at #8, we don't have to worry about our faulty batting and bowlers getting tired during overseas Tests. Exciting times ahead.

Disgreed with your last para.Kamran was given grand total of one match to bat at 7,He bowled well in an over or two.plus he did a very good run out as well .

Lolz duminy would have been carted around there.Two pakistani batsaman were playing,He was ther to cover for Russel and he did well>It was more of a forced change.We have seen enough of him.It has been 3 years of hussain talat with ISU but he still has lower ceiling than ATG Asif ali because he is from faisalabad.
Look at Agha salman being given chances.

And i clearly remember that kamran ghulam innings.

The guy was clueless. ANd sucked. But he got his chance. He was a great fielder though.

I would also add this captain also revived Khalid Latif's career by playing him in the middle order and allowed him to tackle the spinners..

Yes thats is good.But you missed explaining kamran ghulam one match despite on the back of good dometic show.
But you explained thst.Misbah always give chances to youngsters when get caught and has no choice,But Sarfarz has been bigger disappointment so cant,say much>By his standard he has done well.

It was wrong to play a batsman like Talat at 8 when Misbah, Patel and Faheem were batting ahead of him. Now they have realized there mistake and played him at three. Don't know what the fuss is about.

you take things to a 100 to quickly

Misbah is not good with trusting young batsmen, history has proven this, that does not mean he has a grudge against them

Well if you have watched the match then you'd know that Hussain Talat only bowled because Russel got injured!!
 
Going back to Talat i say view his bowling as a bonus for the time being. He is more than good enough to stake a claim in odis and t20s at number 6 and 5 respectively. If he has a good season then he can potentially play first class.

his bowling clearly has promise though, i think in odis especially he can bowl us a good 5 overs. This will also alow us to swap Fahim for a second spinner where conditions merit it

yeah exactly, he wasnt sent out to bat today at all, like i said Misbah doesnt do well when it comes to trusting young batsmen, they really have to earn it beyond all doubt, while a guy like asif ali who has been living off one t20 innings his entire career despite having batting stats that are closer to Sohail Tanvir than an actual batsmen will get chance after chance.

I dont know why you get so defensive about it when Misbah himself admits it, he has said in past interviews that he values expereince before all else.

Your Qauid is human, he has flaws and this is one of them.

Shane Watson should be a good role model for Talat ( well Watson post 2010)

Focus on your batting and be a smart bowler, have your variations, control your line and length
 
On a serious note, I am a big big fan of Misbah, but yes there were batting order troubles in the last few matches, that happens when your injured captain returns later. Hopefully they have now sorted out their best combination. Although I would like Badree ahead of Samit Patel in future.

If there is any such thing as a captain's pick, Ronchi and Asif Ali seem to be the two that are Misbah's picks. Ronchi has showed today what a beast he can be. Asif Ali has been disappointing so far, and seems like a hit or miss sorta player. If he works hard and improves his technique and shot selection, he could become a good t20 player. The only dubious selection of IU that has bugged me has been that of Iftikhar Ahmed.

Yeah he has mentioned Kallis and Watson, he considers himself a top-order batsman who can contribute with the ball.

He will have to be content with a middle-order spot if he's picked though, don't see him being moved to the top order. In the long run, it's possible depending on how he goes at the top level, I guess.

I think 6 is where we need him in odis and he does seem to be adapating well to that role noticed he played around 5 or 6 in recent list A games as well.

He has the game for it, and comes across as pretty calm as well

I really have high hopes now its over to Inzi and Sarfraz

for our next odi I would love a lineup like this

1. Fahkar - VC
2. Someone thats not Azhar , Shezhad or a TTF, or if Prof has to play then him
3. Babar
4. Sarfraz - WK - C - please bat here , please
5. Malik
6. Talat
7. Shadab
8. Faheem/Imad
9. Amir
10. Hasan
11. Usman

Talat is the icing on top. On paper that team looks so well balanced and has pretty much every bowling variety possible

Im not a fan but Chacha Ifti is a beast domestically and deserves to be in the PSL.

Asif Ali on the other hand is there due to the Wolves association, otherwise no team would pick him. He averages 20 or lower in List A and First Class, his t20 batting average of 25 is boosted by a sole 100 that he never has come close to replacting anywhere. He is a proper hack and not even an effective one at that

Yeah thats a good shout. His technique is probably the best in the team and he is a stroke player as well. Would do well with the field in and he cash in on the spinners later on. I think he is wasted anything below 4.

Ideally id like another hitter at the top, but unless Farhan does something big the rest of the PSL than i dont see who else there is.

Shazaib would be an option, gives a right hand combo as well. His ban ends on the 17th of March but i have no idea if the PCB will pick, plus he will need a good list tournament to get everyone's attention. Honestly that PSL scandal was devastating enough by loosing Sharjeel, but that year ban probably cost Shazaib the best chance he has at rebooting his career. He was fitter and in good form, had just smashed a 171 in List A as well.

perhaps but only if his bowling is up to standard. As in if he can give us 6 relatively tight overs

They way i see it Malik is undroppable even though we all know he will struggle outside of Asia.

If Malik were not to play then I would go with Haris at 4 and Sarfraz at 5.

He is a decent bowler but I don't think that we need his bowling when we are playing three genuine fast bowlers and Shadab. Faheem, Haris, Salman and Talat will be our 5th bowling options.
 
We only need a part timer even if we don't play an allrounder at 7. We already have part time bowling from Haris, Fakhar, Malik. And now Talat if he comes into the team. If you can't get 10 overs out of 4 part timers, that's poor. In fairness with the amount of bowling background Malik has, bit confused why he can't produce 10 decent overs with the ball.

Our main priority is our batting, but we're constantly obsessed with bowling. I want our absolute strongest batting line up 1-7, even the 7th bat should be the best 7th bat we can have. We need a guy who averages 35 minimum there ideally with batting intelligence who can forge an innings and handle batting pressure when needed.

it is true misbah not only goes for experience. but if he likes a player he gives him a full chance.

But if people will make such stupid arguments then i will also give such logic to them.

You know why?

because saying that Misbah is against new players make no sense.. How so? Becuase hussain Talat is a player whom Misbah himself selected.
So if Misbah shows favourtism to Asif ALi, he also shoes it to Hussain Talat.

When Misbah likes a player he ends up getting those players selected in all the teams misbah himself play. Misbha is the one who got Talat in the United team in the first place.

You talk about stats. By stats Iftikahr is a great batsmen and has age with him. But even he would be critisized for being selected by misbah

Yes everyone knows Iftikhar's domestic performance, but also every time he has been given a chance on a bigger stage, he looks subdued by occasion and starts batting like Chris Martin. For Asif Ali, I do think, he has power to become a good t20 batter, but he needs to work very very hard. You don't need to have a good technique to thrive in T20s. All you need is brain, good shot selection, reading the conditions and bowlers, strike rotation and good range. Of these Asif only has the last one in his armory. The other abilities can be acquired with practice and hard work. Although, I am not hopeful if he will get that batter.

He has to select young players, the rules make him. Now ill give him credit for selecting both Farhan and Talat, but it's not like this was a stroke of brillance, both were among the best performing batsmen domestically at the time of their respective selections.

Plus how any credit has to tempered by the actions that have been taken since. Last night was a classic example, Farhan never opened, okay fair enough but then when the game was more or less won he still didnt come on despite ISU batting till number 10. Instead Asif Ali came in to score cheap runs to justify his spot. This is nothing new, Asad in particular has been a beneficiary of promotions in already won games.

We have to remember that this is a person who called a 40 Rafatullah Mohmand despite being shown completely inept at international level. You had decent sloggers like Mukhtar Ahmed available

I dont see why you have to defend him to the death, he cleary as you yourself admitted has trust issues with young batsmen unless they are grinders like himself.

some people dont realize that Misbah has given more chances to youngsters than anybody else in PSL :facepalm: on their understanding
