Baartman was the leading wicket-taker in SA20. He's good. Besides him its a rubbish pace-bowling attack

Who the heck picks Marnus Labuschagne in T20?

I mentioned it before but I can't get over giving a contract to Hammad Azam. He wouldn't even get picked if he was a local player!

The whole world to pick from and they pick a player who left Pakistan because he couldn't get picked!

Stupid decision

They were better off picking Fraser McGurk direct signing
This is such a bad and unbalanced squad barring some good players like Saim, Maaz, Baartman and Usman, who is a beast in PSL.

Hammad Azam surely has to be one of the all-time worst PSL picks.

Saim
Usman (k)
Maaz
Labu (os)
Kushal (os)
Niazi
Hassan
Asif/Saad/Rizwan
Akif
Riley (os)
Bartman (os)

I think their strength is that Maaz is still an emerging player so that quota is fulfilled. Can be a decent side

Batting depth probably the best

Saim
Shayaan
Maaz
Kusal
Marnus
Usman Khan
Sharjeel
Niazi
Hassan Khan
Hammad Azam

Lots of batters

Squad looks weak along with its generic team logo. I mean if one uses AI, then use it creatively, this logo is a novice AI work tbh.

Hammad, Shayan, Asif, Saad, Sharjeel and Saad are all Chicago players. Those aren’t performance or stats based picks they’ve simply picked from their US pool. But yes from a HK perspective those picks don’t make much sense especially if the likes of Hammad and Asif count as foreign picks.

Best XI

1. Saim
2. Maaz
3. Usman (WK)
4. Labuschagne *
5. Niazi
6. K Parera
7. Hassan *
8. Akif
9. Riley *
10. Hunain (E)
11. Baartman *

Players like brendon mcmullan, James coles and Jordan Hermann are available and they went for hammed azam...
I am glad you brought up James Coles because I am honestly shocked that no one picked him. Mark my words, he will be a name for England in the future. Not only can he bat down the order at a very high strike-rate, he can also bowl left-arm spin with good control. And you can rely on him in the field too. A fantastic talent that PSL owners were too stupid to pick in their team.

Jordan Hermann will be bigger star........ keshav mehraj and Jason Smith are currently playing t20 world cup and they are also unpicked......

These all are literally steals at 60 lac each.....

Jordan Hermann for sure will be an all-format star for South Africa. But James Coles will be a box-office caliber star for England in white-ball. He has something about him. I personally value a player like Hermann more but someone like Coles will sell tickets

Weirdest owner that is fighting hard for the approval of others. The team has a stupid name altogether, and the owner looks like a crack head.

Ended up picking USA players just for approval ratings.

Maaz was a good pick

Naa, i thought Akif Javed was a good pick.

Akif isnt valued because of his runup, but he delivers and should be playing for Pakistan as a 2nd or 3rd pacer.

Stupid direct signing. Pakistani obsession with anything Australian is perplexing.

And Hammad Azam was a blunder as well. He did not get selected for the USA squad for the world cup. And he used to warm the bench when he was a local player in initial PSL seasons.

Kusal Perera is also out of form. P Nissanka from the same country would have been better (not sure if he was an option).

However, batting is generally good. Great retentions.

Hope Saim is made the captain

Someone must have been reading the timeless thread about American Pakistanis
What a disastrous auction for Hyderabad, squandered any chance they ever had with it geeks and the new run out king

Overall it's a meh team that will be extremely top order reliant with a weak bowling unit. I don't even think they have a single leg spinner in the squad which is shocking for any T20 build these days. They ended up drafting so many batters too and have few backup options and there is zero specialist spinner, let alone leg spin.

Team looks like Peshawar of a couple of years ago with even less balance with their bowling.
Regardless, Saim & Maaz together will be an exciting watch.

Why Sharjeel or Hammad Azam??

Their batting looks ordinary apart from Saim and maaz.

Aakif has days when he can go for 60 in 3 overs because of not getting his run up in rhythm

Yeah he’s world class when he’s on song though.

This doesn't look like a strong team. They look alright in batting but in bowling, they look pretty weak.

Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen sign Glenn Maxwell for PSL 11

KARACHI: Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen on Thursday announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for the upcoming 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3.

Maxwell has been one of Australia’s most dominant performers in the T20I format.

In 129 matches, he has scored 2,897 runs at a strike rate of 158.42, including 12 half-centuries and five centuries, with a highest score of 145*. He has also claimed 49 wickets with his off-spin.

The right-handed batter brings vast franchise experience, having featured in competitions such as the Big Bash League (BBL), Indian Premier League (IPL), The Hundred and the Vitality Blast.

Across 502 T20 matches, Maxwell has amassed 10,986 runs at a strike rate of 154.16, registering 58 fifties and eight centuries, while also taking 196 wickets.

He is set to make his PSL debut this season and is expected to add firepower and experience to the Kingsmen’s squad.

Earlier, on February 6, Australia’s top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne was also named as a direct signing by the franchise.

For the unversed, the PSL player auction — the first in the league’s history — was held at the Expo Centre on Wednesday, where all eight franchises finalised their squads.

The auction replaced the draft system, which had been in place for the first 10 editions since the league’s inception in 2016.

The shift in the player selection model comes as the PSL prepares for expansion, with the addition of two new franchises: Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.

The six existing teams were allowed to retain only four players each from their core squads, making squad-building a challenging task ahead of the new season.

Saim
Maaz
Labu
Usman
Maxwell
Irfan
Hassan

Good batting lineup
Meredith can be 4th overseas if hassan plays as overseas

Glenn Maxwell is a huge get even if he is in the twilight of his career.

1. Saim Ayub
2. Mass Sadaqat
3. Marnus Labuschagne (O)
4. Glenn Maxwell (C)(O)
5. Irfan Khan Niazi
6. Usman Khan (WK)
7. No idea
8. Akif Javed
9. Ottniel Baartman (O)
10. Riley Meredith (O)
11. Mohammad Ali

That's a really fun signing. Maxwell may not be what he used to be but still he can be destructive anytime and it makes for a fun lineup.

Should be good for his teammates like Ayub/Maaz to watch what he does for power hitting practice/routines etc and see if they can pickup something to emulate themselves.

Maxwell is box office. I think it is a good decision to get Maxwell for PSL.

Labushange dropped out. That’s why they got Maxi on direct

If Australia reached the semis, Maxi deal was unlikely

He’s got a month off now so he can refresh. That’s why he’s made himself available for PSL

So Labuschagne is not coming at all? This has surprisingly turned out well for team Hyderabad.
No I think he recorded a video message confirming his non participation

I think they may have twisted his arm behind the scenes to drop out as soon as Maxi gave green signal. I see no reason for why Labu would just opt out

Labu was a trash signing. Kind of guy whom I wouldn’t want in my team even if he pays me bucks

Last time i saw Labu bat, he was edging Nitish Kumar Reddy in the slips. Terrible signing.

Sorry but F this team. I can't take them seriously because of that stupid name. Seems to be a team run by braindead morons. Hope they finish last

Glen Maxwell is not coming to the PSL just because of the PSL amounts he was offered. Hyberabad Kingsman has promised him opportunities in the CPL as they own a franchise there and in the US as well. They have also offered to invest in a Euro T-20 team he owns.

A clear example of an under the table deal. Surprised why the other PSL franchises are not objecting to this?

Why is such an established player from a Big-3 nation playing such small time leagues though?

I think the other leagues offer a more chill, relaxed environment. IPL is a perform or perish type environment and the gigantic sums of money makes the stakes higher.

They got Maxwell! That’s huge, for the PSL as a whole too!
