It was under their coaching reign that Babar and Rizwan were made T20 openers when the selectors had selected both Fakhar and Sharjeel in the squad.

Misbah a few days ago was defending his decision to persist with Babar and Rizwan over other players. Now all of a sudden I find it rich for Waqar to mention that Babar and Rizwan are doing the easiest thing in the world ie opening in T20 Cricket, that these players only care for their own stats, performance but leave the team hanging, that most of their runs have not done much for the team, that Babar needs to stop being selfish and should drop himself lower down the order to bring in aggressive openers.

I hope these two shameless hypocritical leaches are never given a position in Pakistan Cricket again.

These two are being very hypocritical.

1. I've heard Misbah say "they need to come out of their Shell". The irony!
2. Waqar is talking about brand of cricket.
3. They all are talking about attacking openers etc

The Babar and Riz was partnership was born under these two.
Misbah introduced this shell he wants them to get out of.

These two talk like they have all the answers, but when they were given carte blanche over the whole team, selection etc etc, they did exactly the same thing.

In fact, one thing that they did worse was the bowling. The bowling now is much improved since they left.

Waqar has always done this. Whenever he's been sacked from PCB he somehow finds his voice and his true colours come out. He'll criticise the team for failings which he had a history of being responsible himself.

For example, when Pakistan toured Australia in 2016, Waqar joined in with the Aussie commentators when they were criticising Misbah's defensive captaincy.

But it was odd to see because he has always had the same defensive mindset as Misbah who was the same captain who played under him for a few years.

When this happened, I thought to myself look at this shameless hypocrite throwing Misbah under the bus.

As I've said before, Misbah and Waqar need to be given lifetime bans from participating in any cricket related activity in Pakistan including punditry and interviews.

They were nothing more than leeches. They knew what was going wrong but didn't care enough to enforce these changes.

For a number of years, we've been told the same tale by fans on how lucky we are to have the saint Misbah. But I always knew he was more on the other side of the scale and was actually sinister in nature. This was evident when he played his part to oust Mickey Arthur so he could take his role for himself.

Misbah was one of the slowest batsmen of all time, it was him trying to smash the ball that cost us the first T20 World Cup

These 2 along with current team management failed to address below issues:

1. Improving the bench strength
2. Didn't introduced rotation policy, always played with winning combination even against low ranked teams
3. workload management, why the likes of babar, shaheen, riwan have to play every single match?
4. Didn't show any flexibility at the top of batting order, persisted with failed spinners like Nauman & Sajid in home series vs Australia and eventually lost the series.
5. Pak test team is still playing test cricket in 1980 style with the intention to draw. This is considered as negetive mindset and even in the test matches these days teams are trying to score at RR of 3.5-4 but Pak batsman play at RR of 3

Waqar took a dig at Babar/Rizwan even in NZ right after Rizwan helped Pakistan win. "Batsmen have to play impact innings. They shouldn't worry about averages" something like that.

Typical of Misbah’s character:

1. Create the illusion of a problem

2. Present yourself as the candidate to solve the problem which you have created an illusion for

3. Take complete control. Solve nothing. Look for make shift solutions to somehow hide your blunders

4. Get sacked, leave the problem midway

5. Sit outside and talk the biggest game, present yourself as the most educated person who understands issues like western coaches/experts

rizwan had a strike rate of 140+ up until that india game last year, his strike rate since is 125. that knock made him think that he was the anchor in the pak team, whereas he was a more dynamic opener in the beginnging, and destabilised the riz babar combo.

also he is so highly leg side dominant that teams figured out u stop feeding him there and he struggles. so whilst it maybe somewhat hypocritical, but the way rizwan plays, and the results hes getting now are materially different to when he was promoted under misbah.

he was not promoted to have two anchors up the innings.

7. Repeat 3 and 4
8. Repeat 5
9. Go back to 6.

I talked about this exact thing in my last post.

A lot of these ex payers are also former coaches and advisors for the team. And during their time the team had the same approach of playing slow T20 cricket and preserving wickets. In fact, Misbah himself played like that in ODIs and would consume so many deliveries that he became known as "Tuk Tuk". So for Waqar to talk about playing attacking cricket when he did nothing as coach to instill that mentality is hilarious.

Even Ramiz Raja used to talk a lot while commenting on how we need to change our approach and look at how India plays, etc. Now he is the chairman of PCB and continues to support slow, spinless batting I. T20s.

It's not hypocritical at all. No one told them to bat selfishly.

And Misbah alone has achieved far more than Babar and Rizwan combined will ever dream of. Brought us from the shame of 2010 to no.1.

Yup. It’s not just that he’s found out. He does not have the same intent. He hit 45 or so sixes in 2021 which was the highest…but this year it’s much lower and he seems unwilling to go aerial.

No

They started this combo which is quite good but when your overall team is not clicking, Babar as a captain needs to think, let me drop 1 down and let Riz play cautiously and put a dasher at other end.

But no, RizBab continue to open and play all matches leaving no match practise for others 80% of the time. During crucial moments they get out cheap like NZ tri series and somehow Nawaz and co won it, it will not happen every time

nope. his T20I s/r from 2015 to 23 oct 2021 was 129, and it is 125 since then. overall career 127.

Also wasim akram mentioned an important thing that during his coaching tenure with KK he told babar to bat at number 3 in few games and let guptill go as opener but babar said “ Nahi mein nhi avugha teen pe” then we had to send sharjeel at 3.

try to understand what I'm trying to say, i was talking abt his stats since he got promoted to open, so when he was opening, not his early international knocks when he was in and out of the team.

How so? They came up wth the initial solution, failure of BAbar and Rizwan to evolve is on them and the new managmenet. You really expect top level cricketers to have a skillset frozen in time?

After that knock against India, I think teams have realised that there is no point bowling short and angling it into him or basically just bowling into his arc.

He is not as good driving on the up, so bowlers are either bowling fuller and looking to swing it away and he hasn't been able to score quickly.

It's a decent show for time pass but all of the panellists are hypocrites.

Wasim gives lectures about youngsters not being disciplined and professional - same guy named in Qayyum Report for matchfixing, caught smoking weed before a Test series in WI, factional ringleader.

Waqar gives lectures about attacking cricket - but his multiple failed stints as captain and coach were bywords for reactivity and defensiveness. Also see above.

Misbah is going on about Babar and Rizwan's SRs but he fixed this opening combination in first place as coach. That's despite no other T20 team in the world opening with two anchors.

Malik - Presents himself as a smart, urbane individual but totally old-school and backwards in his thoughts - see his excuses for Haris Sohail's poor fitness. Also another factional ringleader.

So what Waqar and Misbah should say in talk show?

Praise everyone? Talk show rating only goes up when someone is critical of anyone. Viewers want to hear criticism.

Came here to throw Malik’s name into the mix as well. He had some of the weirdest comments post Pak-India game that seemed suspiciously about how to position himself to get reselected again for Pakistan. “Every team needs an anchor” “Look at Virat’s strike rate for most of his innings, it was less than 100! See? That’s ok!” “Asif’s weakness to short ball is overrated!”

The host is asking about insights on batting in Australia and Vs bounce, and Shobby here is talking as if he has hit many a blistering centuries at the Waca and the G.

Surely they could do better to find a decent expert who actually has done well for us in those hostile conditions.

The level was hypocrisy on the show is shameless. In addition to a lot of points people mentioned, yesterday they were all waxing lyrical of how the coach needs a very long run and we look for replacements as soon as we lose a tournament. The most vocal were obv Misbah (with his axe to grind that he wasn’t given enough time - even though he himself officially ‘resigned’) and Wasim.

But guess who was on the committee that fired Mickey Arthur - yep, Misbah and Wasim.

Masood asif Ifty haider Kushdil shadab Nawaz must be laughing there pants off, the 2 guys giving respectability in defeats getting bashed.

Hand on heart everyone knew the game was gone v Zimb when Masood & co we’re struggling to get bat on ball even 4 of 3 had no confidence in them !!
