"I am happy with the performance of the national team players in the Multan Test. England's team depends on experienced players. Pakistani players do not have much experience of red ball.

"Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Nawaz cannot be praised enough. Imam-ul-Haq came from the hospital and batted well. I am happy, but unfortunately, the result did not go in our favor"

"You either win or learn. I hope the players have learned a lot. We will review the mistakes that have been made"

"Karachi wickets will also be favorable for spinners. A spin wicket will be made so that the ball turns more"

This guy literally is the Ole Gunner Solksjaer of Pakistan cricket.

Doesn't have a clue about coaching the team but does a great job in cheerleading.

Ladies and gentlemen this is the clueless clown we have for a coach, nothing more then a cheer leader who is happy praising mediocrity.

We have a history of appointing ex players who have no job coaching being appointed as head coach.

Waqar and Saqlain are qualified bowling coaches- who’s bright idea was it to equate that to head coach and appoint them as that?

Nobody else using them as head coach in the world shows that they’re not fit to have that position.

Ramiz is a fool. He’s letting friendship cloud his judgement. Expected much more from him, but he’s just as unprofessional as some of the nepotism based chairmen choices before him.
 
We came within 20+ of chasing 350 so definitely a positive but the mindset is negative and that's what's cost the series. Saq has added little and that's no different to all our other coaches. What Brendon Mccullum and Stokes have done is make a mental switch and take away the fear of losing and go for it. I know we don't have the players but even if we did, we would still be producing dreadful wickets,boring the pants off people

You'd think with Waqar and Saqlain as head coaches - they'd at least know how to identify and develop bowlers.

However Waqar's bowling picks as coach were generally poor and I cannot believe Saqlain, who's worked for deveral international teams as a spin consultant, thought Zahid Mehmood merited a Test cap.
 
I wouldn’t read too much in to what he’s saying. He’s a coach, and naturally won’t throw players under the bus. He did emphasis they must learn from this.

This guy does not care at all about winning or losing , its all " God's will" for him. He is happy as long as he keeps his job.
 
This guy is always happy no matter the result. At least he didn't bring religion in to it like most Pak players do.
 
How pathetic is this statement saqlain is leaving no stone upturned in making Pakistan Bangladesh, sack him please
 
It was definitely an improved performance from Pakistan.

I think in the first Test we saw an alarming gulf between the sides pretty much from the first over of the match and all the way through, whereas in the second match, it was one awful session for Pakistan that cost them in the end. The old theory about it being possible to lose a Test in one bad session reared its head again there.

So aside from that horrorshow session where Pakistan gave away eight cheap wickets and got bowled out in their first innings, they played a pretty good Test match. They contained England’s rampant batting for the most part and dismissed them for under 300 twice. They also showed a lot of resilience and backbone to get close to a 355 target in the fourth dig.

26 runs is a very close, fine margin in a Test.
 
Even Bangladesh won 1 test each against England & Australia at their home in 2016-2017 and series ended in 1-1 draw. Pakistan has failed to defeat teams like West Indies & Sri Lanka in aways series and now they lost 2 back-to-back home series against AUS & ENG which is more humiliating. Saqlain & Babar must acknowledge their failures otherwise you can never improve
 
Margin is small but the test match got over in nearly 3 days time, considering overs lost. One needs to see it this way as well.

Mark Wood was the biggest difference bw the two teams in this test. Without his pace and timely strikes Saud and Nawaz might have taken Pakistan home. But its all ifs and butts
 
He should be proud if Pakistan played same level of cricket in OS tours but loosing series by series in home conditions is something you should not feel happy.

It is indeed a case of ifs and buts, however I am going to float this anyway: if Mark Wood doesn’t take those couple of wickets before Lunch on the final day, England lose that Test.
 
This guy Saqlain was a complete loser in his whole international career where he was mugged by good teams and top batters while against low ranked teams and tail enders, he end up getting load of wickets.

Saqlain has no idea what he is doing & why. I think he doesn’t even want to be the head coach but is not resigning because he is getting a lot of money.

The entire coaching staff needs to be sacked. Yousuf has failed & Tait is bringing the Test bowlers to his own level, he was a rubbish bowler in this format.
 
Happy for losing a home series with straight 2-0.. What else they need to sack this Qudrat ka nizaam bhai..

May be waiting for the whitewash..

I thought Tait was doing well , Pak pace battery was fully loaded and the bowling was top notch in WT20.

He didnt bring trundling Ali along with 3 T20 rookies and faheem ashraf.. And Im sure he must wondering why did he take PCB job when they select players on bias backed by so many things behind and not on merit and quality..

Thats the reason of appointing foreign head coaches. These desi coaches (irrespective of how great player they were in their playing career) cannot coach a team properly.

We immediately need foreign coach who understands the game and select players on merit rather than on queues sequence

Tait is doing a fine job. The backup talent is seriously missing and we are paying price for it.
In modern cricket, you have to test your bench strength especially for bowlers in order to prepare them for any backup option if front line bowlers gets injured which is very common now a days.

While there's no denying that both the matches were closely fought, the Pakistan cricket team and its coaches have been facing criticism ever since the fate of the series was decided. Former Pakistan Test batter and ex-chief selector and head coach Mohsin Khan has slammed the team's head coach Saqlain Mushtaq for suggesting the team would now look for a 'consolation win' in the third Test having already seen the series slip out of their hands.

"Instead of talking about where we are going wrong, he is now talking about a consolation win. What sort of a coach is Saqlain?" said Mohsin on a Pakistani TV channel.

We lost just 0-3, coach is satisfied with the team performance, then what everyone is making fuss about ? I have to accept Saqlain's explanation , he knows about cricket more than I do. I thought losing 0-3 was shameful but coach doesn;t have any issue with that, great.

What's next, 0-5, lose 2 to NZL and we'll be there.
 
He was very competitive and a fighter during his younger playing days. Now you can notice he has developed a laid back loserish attitude and is content with mediocrity. Pakistan needs to get rid of these types of coaches. Need more professional coaches rather than ones relying on divine intervention.
 
Now you miss Misbah? Atleast he would had not lost the test series to England at home
 
Saqi will keep playing cheer leader until he is sacked.
 
Can we sack him please. I thought misbah was our worst coach this guy is giving him a tough competition.
 
One word comes to mind, "delusional"

Theyve been thouroughly out played in every game and dept this series And if saqi and co think it was a close series, or it came down to inexperience or one or two moments decided the series then they are totally delusional and need sacking judt for that
 
Our coach and our chairman treat this team like kids. Don't criticize them otherwise they will become upset and not perform well. Due to this soft attitude especially from the coach this team keeps giving these dismal results again and again.

When we lost to Australia at home despite preparing such dull wickets the coach and captain were happy and satisfied that they fought well in a close series. Same words again after getting whitewashed by England.

If the captain and coach are satisfied with these performances then we should feel no shame to belong in the same category as Bangladesh and West Indies

And if they say it was due to inexperience than what experience did these English players had who were playing their first Test series in Pakistan. At least our 'inexperience' players have experience playing in home conditions.

So we have a delusional coach as well as captain. Agha and wasim were positives? When you applauding garbage bits and pieces players no wonder we are a mess.

Saqi and Babar need to stop acting like a pair of ostrich with their head buried in sand. The fact both of them are blaming Sauds wicket as whole reason for 2nd test is pathetic.

These shameful clowns need to be sacked.

What a load of nonsense. We got whitewashed but we could have won the series if so & so scenarios played differently. Seriously? That holds true for every game of cricket in history. You lost key moments in each & every Test in spite of playing at home.

England had more experience? The player of the series, Harry Brook, is a newcomer. They opened with Duckett, another newcomer. Two of their spinners were newcomers.

Ollie Robinson had only 11 Tests before this tour. Two less than Naseem.

Anderson didn’t even play the third Test & the other most experienced player (Root) had a forgettable series.

Saqlain is clueless & none of his excuses have any legs. He is completely out of touch with reality & I am glad Sethi will end his misery soon.
