"I am really sad about not making a hundred"

"I had Shoaib Malik with me for support but just so happened that I could not utilize the remaining balls to get my century"

"It's an important achievement for any team to win a series"

"We never consider a team to be weaker than us; The West Indies are after all, World T20 champions as well"

"T20 can be played without big shots; the main thing is to score runs"

"My role is not play a long innings but my job is to play my natural game"

"The confidence that I gained from the 50 runs I scored in the PSL game is something I have carried over to this series"

"It's the job of others to talk, its our job to play cricket"

"Virat Kohli is a legend and I am nowhere near him"

"Whether I play one-down or I open the innings is irrelevant, my job is to do what is best for the team"

"I don't listen to what people say about me, I play according to the role given to me by the team"

"I was in two minds about taking a chance (with a big shot) or score doubles etc but in that process, I missed a few balls"

"It's obvious that when you play on your home-ground, you feel very confident about yourself"

"When I feel its time to go for power-hitting, I do take a chance, otherwise I play my natural game"

"I will play like I did today and try and get a hundred"

"I told Hussain Talat to not panic"

"We are learning so much from Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez"

Hopefully he keeps playing with this intent. Shouldn't be toonupset that he didn't get a 100. He played well.

Inshallah he will come good in tests. Just need to back him!

Just a matter of time before he starts playing these big “impactful” innings against the top teams.

He is more sad that he did not score his 100 than being happy that his team win? I am afraid Pak have found their own Tendulkar

Not worried about his lack of power game. His consistency is remarkable for his age.

What's so surprising that pak won against this club level team, all our players are trying to achieve personal milestones and not take this series seriously

Hopefully it will cause him to reflect upon his shortcomings. He needs to keep on practicing hitting the big shots.

if we have found our own Tendulkar, I am am having less sleepless nights about our batting.

A lot of comments regarding playing as a team. Don't just read the headlines, read the whole thing.

While I respect that he's interested in just scoring runs, it's very alarming and concerning that he's not interested in working on his power game.

You don't want to become another Hashim Amla in T20is or Williamson and I'm afraid he wants to go the same route.

Need to develop an impact game.

Nah man, I'm sure he's delighted about the team winning. Of course, he's disappointed about not getting the hundred but he will become better at articulating his thoughts with time and more experience so it doesn't look like he's just playing for himself.

he was visibly upset when he was walking back to the dressing room

hopefully he'll get that first T20 century soon!

Then maybe you should work on getting stronger instead of being a matchstick.

I think it's normal to be disappointed when you miss a milestone. More importantly, I'm impressed with the quote about his comparison to Kohli. Would like to see this interview if someone has a link!

This kind of humble-mindedness is needed from a player we want to be consistent for us. The rest can be more brash but from Babar I want consistency, and he's been great for us so far!

Unfortunately did not have the opportunity to watch his bat live I hope this inning serves him as a confidence boost so he takes on the big dogs.

I think people should just let him be. Too much expectation creates a huge burden on the youngster. He is developing nicely and should bring this form to ODI and tests.

He is more sad that he did not score his 100 than being happy that his team win? I am afraid Pak have found their own Tendulkar

Even if he achieves 70% what Tendulkar had done for India, would do wonders for the Pakistan.

Haters are going to hate but this man has all the ingredients to be the greatest batsman Pakistan has ever produced.

If I got a penny every time a Pakistani player talked about playing his natural game, I would've been a billionaire. There's nothing in that interview that tells us about the batting thought process. It's just natural game.

This should shut up the tuk-tuk Babar brigade for a while. He capitalized on a weak WI bowling attack but still goes to show the potential and class this guy has. Wish him all the best for the 3rd game.

Biggest plus is his hunger for runs. He isn't satisfied with one performance and is remarkably humble for one so young and with so much success already.

Very refreshing change from the likes of Shezzy and Akmal who live on one performance for years and act like prima donnas.

Hopefully he develops a power game in time. Maybe learn from the like of Kohli and Sangakarra. They don't slog and play proper cricketing shots.

Its good that he has cool head and not listen to others. Pakistani fans are very tough to handle. Most of them don't have cricketing brain. They only support umar akmal and sihaib maqsood type of batsmen thanks to afridi. I think babar will end up as a Pakistani batting lagend.

Babar Azam says he is nowhere near 'legend' Virat Kohli

Babar Azam, currently on the 3rd spot on the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 rankings, said on Monday that he is "nowhere near" Virat Kohli, calling the captain of the Indian national team a “legend”.

“I try to play like Kohli and compete with him," said Azam, adding that at this stage, he could not be compared to the Indian batsman.

Previously, left arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir in a Twitter question-answer session with fans had has also praised the Indian cricketer, calling him "the best batsman in the world".

Azam, while speaking at a press conference following the second Pak vs West Indies T20I match in Karachi on Monday, called himself unfortunate for missing out on a century by three runs.

“There was no pressure on me and I was in coordination with Shoaib Malik but unfortunately missed a couple of balls and eventually, my century,” he regretted.

Pakistan has a 2-0 lead against West Indies so far in the ongoing three-match T20I series.

Calling West Indies a “world champion”, Azam said that Pakistan did not consider the team to be an easy target and fought hard to win. “We bowled well to put them under pressure."

Azam called Hussain Talat, who made his T20I debut for Pakistan in the West Indies series, a “class player”.

“I have been playing with him since the Under-19 matches and suggested to him not to take pressure”.

Azam also served as the captain of the Pakistan team at the 2012 Under-19 World Cup.

He doesn't have the ability to be Kohli or AB or Tendulqar but if he stays humble and keep himself far away from Akmals he will be our limited over great.

70% is too much bro
Even if babar achieved 30% of what Tendulkar have achieved in his career u ppl will hailed him as best after bradman

He’s got the ability to be better than Root, Kane, Smith (LOI) definitely.

May be Root aand Kane but definitely he is far behind than Smith. He does not have merit to play in test matches unfortunately. He is an oneday version of Chanderpaul.

He's not wrong. Doesn't possess the power game that kohli does, and as of now he's really only scored soft runs, and mostly against West Indies or Sri Lanka.

Best of the lot Pak got, why so much focus and scrutiny on a youngster's :babar every move or comment?

This guy is truly special. Comparisons with kohli and co. are still premature but can understand why people resort to such things. The guy has set a high bar time and time again.

He can become like kohli. Its just a matter of hard work . Kohli also is a consistent accumlator and a good boundary hitter. He himself says that he tries to stay in his limitations
I have no doubt if baber works hard he can reach kohli's level.

Babar+ muscles+ power game = Kohli

Heights of delusion !!!

He is more sad that he did not score his 100 than being happy that his team win? I am afraid Pak have found their own Tendulkar
Man how Pak wish they had one as half good as Tendulkar.

He deserved the ton and seems like he's getting better with each innings. I think the opening slots in T20s are his and Fakhar's. No need for Shehzads, Kamis, Manzoors, etc..I'm curious to know if he's willing to open in ODIs also.

It's mostly denial out of embarrassment because of the rubbish they posted prior.
It's pretty funny to me.

"So are you disappointed you didn't get a century"

What are you supposed to say? He kept saying I'll do anything for the team and anything to win and gets a specific question about his just missing of a mark and he gives an honest answer and he's chastised.

If any person here was that's close to a century, of course they would be disappointed and use that disappointment to improve and do it next time.

The amount of nitpicking over minute statements is ridiculous.

The amount of finger pointing and sitting on high horses as they everyone is on some elite moral high ground is too rampant.
