He literally nicks the ball towards the slips in every innings, even against pacers like Anwar and Yamin. :facepalm:

No wonder Steyn had such a party against him.

I get the feeling this thread will see a lot of activity if Hafeez is selected for the SA tour.
 
Well Steyn is not what he used to be but I am sure he is still good enough for Hafeez. I hope he is not selected in SA series. He should only be in the team in Asia or WI.
 
Please don't play him in South Africa. We can take his word for it, no need to test him
 
Would love to see Hafeez score a century against Steyn before retirement
 
Mr. Glass isn't what he used to be anymore, neither is Hafeez, aka king on phattas and a serf on anything with some juice

Steyn should ask to sit out of the next series against Pak, or else Hafeez Sobers may ruin all his records. :steyn

O boy it's that time of year again. Will Steyn own Hafeez again Or Hafeez is gonna show him doors?
 
I thought it was disgraceful of Steyn to be laughing at Hafeez after dismissing him. Pure arrogance. Hope better than ever before MoHafee puts SteynGun in his place and turns him into a pop gun.
 
Hafeez gonna cost Steyn his place at the WC by scoring 5 centuries back to back in ODIs, against him.

Probably, Steyn should do a AB D and retire before Pak series.
 
If Farhat can score an unbeaten 91 against Steyn and smack him over his head for a six, so can Hafeez.

I am not sure if people remember, but he actually smashed Steyn once in an ODI in UAE (Abu Dhabi?) in 2010, where he raced to 40 odd in 25 or so deliveries, before he throwing his wicket away.

He has actually played a few very good knocks against South Africa but never managed to convert them into a substantial score.

Now that he has cemented his place till the World Cup at least and on merit I should add, It would be great to see him get one back at Steyn after all these years.

Hafeez has also scored a 50 against Steyn on that 2013 tour in SA conditions in the same ODI where Afridi scored that famous 80 of 40 something deliveries. At one point he hit him for 3 consecutive boundaries all over the wicket and Steyn out of frustration resorted to sledging and verbals.
 
Lol, Steyn will probably be in disbelief as to how Hafeez is still there in 2018
 
Now hafeez fans will start salivating if he hits even 1 six off steyn. Revenge taken scores will be settled.
 
Hitting steyn is no big deal. He is an aggressive bowler. Many guys have thrashed him around. Famous world cup is a testimony. Dhoni has manhandled him many times. Even lot of noobs in the IPL have thrashed him around. Those are roads, slow wickets, true wickets with less bounce where he can't get his outswing going. But when he even sniffs a slight bit of movement good luck trying to dominate him. Even the best of the best will struggle. But that threshold varies from batsman to batsman. Tendulkar played him absolutely brilliantly so was Kohli. But Rohit? He just said "come to India" lol

South African conditions are perfect for him, and of course he is lethal with his reverse-swing as well, which has enabled him to have a good record in most countries.

He would have been even more lethal if he had a good conventional in-swinger. He does not have the mastery of swing bowling that Anderson has, but he has compensated for it with arguably the best out-swinger of all time.

If I recall correctly, he threw his wicket away to a spinner in that game. It was a golden opportunity to score a hundred on a very flat pitch.

One of the reason he was successful because he is a great athlete. Typically batting teams would relax in post tea session. That is when he turns into a beast. He raises his game in third session better than many fast bowlers i have seen. In the limited overs he was never a potent force on flat wickets. If anythign Morkel and some lesser known bowlers were more potent than him.

If someone was to read this but didn't know their Alif Bay about cricket, they would automatically assume that these cricketers are on the same level.

But that is simply not the case. Steyn is the greatest bowler of his generation and no one has come close to him in the last 10 years. Period.
 
May come to regret these words.

May be best if South Africa rest Steyn or it could get messy.

Wow. Thanks for finding that stat. This is Hafeez’s last chance to redeem himself. If he gets a hundred no body will remember these old numbers ever again.

Hafeez can score a double hundred and he’s still steyns’s bunny. One hundred does not take away them numbers.

That’s such a deluded post. That’s like saying Pakistan is better then India because we beat India once after I don’t know how many defeats and humiliations.

I watched the highlights, he was bowling like he was never injured. Bowled with aggression, pace and fire against the aussies.
 
Steyn is old and less effective. hafeez will do little bit better considering he is undroppable
 
😂😂 See this is why in the legal field, we tend not to rate professors highly. Brilliant at theoretical thinking but awful when it comes to practical implementation.
 
Hafeez is a nobody. Doesn't stand a chance against one of the legends of the game.

He averages 9.73 after scoring the hundred in the first innings of the first Test vs Australia.
 
This guy is trash. Even if he somehow survives against Steyn, Rabada and co will take him to the cleaners. Trash batsman and is no longer an effective bowler either so he has no place in the team.

One man who is more incompetent in his role than Hafeez, is Inzamam as a selector.
 
Seems like it is a very convenient and coincidental time for Hafeez to retire, just when the going was about to get tough, he walked off - kind of epitomizes his career, he's hardly ever performed against the best teams or in pressure situations and has been incredibly fortunate to have the privilege of playing for the national team for so many years.
 
The history books will recall that the number of times Dale Steyn dismissed Mohammad Hafeez in the Test series of 2018/2019 in South Africa was 0 :)
 
Bachgaya Steyn, that Hafeez ended his own career by announcing retirement. If not, Hafeez would've ended Steyn's test career.

May be, Steyn requested Hafeez to retire. :ashwin
 
we all are deprived of the great opportunity to see Hafeez clearing up the whole scenario on the field.. maybe he knew he could clear this up in a press conference.. check mate.

What I have been saying about Hafeez and Malik for so long...

Hafeez does well in more bouncier conditions of the western half of the cricketing circle... South Africa, Australia and Newzealand..

Malik does well in Asian conditions mostly...

They are ying and yang, but both of them are needed. Our team looks ordinary without even one of them.

Absence of Hafeez made us look so ordinary and light in Asia Cup 2018, whereas he has come in in ODIs and won us a big match against South Africa...

Malik on was the top scorer and the only good performer in 2018 in the Asia Cup... but he will mostly struggle in these conditions... but still absolutely vital because there is no one else as good as him.

That's so true. And it seems Mickey has realised that as well. The reason they both are in till the WC no matter what happens.
