Very good by the youngster

He scored 70 off 29 against 3 bowlers who bowl 145+
 
Grade B hack like fakhar zaman with so many technical deficiencies.He won't be able score against international teams.
 
Good innings but was helped by some poor bowling by Haris and Dilbar. He has power and will be effective once in a while but isn't the all conditions finisher we need.
 
That was a brilliant innings today, although the LQ bowlers should look at what they were doing in terms of bowling to his strengths.

Even though I don't think kushdil can succeed at international level. But he deserves his chance over pathetic misbah friend asif ali.
 
Whoever people don't like, they'll call them a leg side hack. I had seen someone call him a leg side back on PP before today's match. He hit boundaries all over the ground, can definitely play all around the ground.

When Khushdil is in the zone and is confident, he hits in the arc from square leg to extra cover.

When he hasn't quite yet gotten going, he generally sets up and tries to swipe everything to midwicket.

Just my observation from the times I've seen him.

Good innings today, seems unlikely to replicate it on a regular basis at this point. Maybe there's some potential to work there.

Exactly. He takes few balls to get set like most of the players. Batting in T20s at no 5 or lower where he usually bats is not easy as you dont get a lot of balls in most games. Maybe thats why his List A stats are really impressive as he gets bit more time and today he got the opportunity to take first few balls to set himself we saw different range of stroke play.
 
Just saw the highlights, great hitting all around. Khushdil at 5 or 6 for national team?
 
Gr8 prospect he is a no 5 or 6 for ODI and t20s.....can b a good handy cricketr 4 LOI formats....with his pattimers too
 
Khushdil and Haider Ali deserve a long run. Batting could be decent with a line up of:

Sharjeel
Babar
Haider
Shadab
Khushdil
Zeeshan

Give them.s long run and it could become great
 
He is clearly not a long term prospect, blindly throws his bat at the ball. Elite teams will eat him alive. Unfortunately, he's the best available option for now.
 
Khushdil Shah injury update

Derby, 19 July 2020:

Left-handed batsman Khushdil Shah has been ruled out for up to three weeks after suffering a fracture in his left thumb while batting during Saturday’s training session in Derby. Khushdil is not featuring in the ongoing four-day intra-squad match and will not be available for selection for the second four-dayer, which will be played from 24-27 July in Derby.

As the nail is intact and there is no injury to nail bed, the orthopedic surgeon, team physician and team physiotherapist expect Khushdil to resume physical training by the end of the next week.

He's a good option at No.6 for Pakistan in LOI. He might take time to get set. But when he does, he can start smashing.
 
Younis Khan has been working on Khushdil Shah's offside stroke play according to his comments in latest presser.
 
Khushdil still doesn't get a place in the side, meaning he won't make an appearance on this whole tour. What a waste.

Definitely one of the best hitters of cricket ball in Pak cricket.

Ammad Butt is stronger. But Khushdil probably technically better.

Khushdil really needs to improve his offside play though otherwise he will be worked out in a few overs in international cricket.

If you closely follow his career he needs 7 to 8 ball to settle down, initially he rotates strike and it is after this, that he gets into the beast mode.

Remember the innings he played against Lahore Qalandars this PSL, Khusdil was run a ball till his first 10 balls and after he went into his six hitting zone, he played the exact same innings today. He has mentioned this in his mid innings interview too.

He needs to come in at around the 10 overs mark, he can absolutely change the game once set.

I am hearing there was a powercut when khuahdil was batting and he enjoyed malik 25 ball 27 the other day with 1 boundary.

Seems iffy against bouncer and also struggles against express pace .Hopefully he works on it and also improves his off side game

Good spot! Thats a big change and much needed as well in modern day white ball cricket. He had no backlift in the PSL pic when Wahab real close to delivering and in national T20 cup his backlift is really good and he is in much better position overall during Hasnain’s run into his delivery.

Good to see players are working on their game. Credit goes to Khushdil or whoever has worked with him during these months. Upcoming batsmen like Haider and Abdullah already have this sorted so someone is working on them by the looks of it at junior level.

As I always said he has the makings of an excellent coach, just needs to keep his attitude in check.
 
Included in the 15-member squad for first ODI vs Zimbabwe - hope he plays but who will he displace?
 
Not too many runs to get but Khushdil should use this time to get some more international time for himself.
 
Too early to judge but I personally think he isn't good enough for international cricket.
 
Khushdil with 36* off 15 balls vs Zim. As said in the match thread Pakistan needed a player who can do this when required for a long time and someone who actually had a good domestic white ball record. I hope his is developed and given a long run.

He has the big shots and is a Clean striker of the ball and has the stats to back it up but he needs to work hard on his offside game an upgrade on ifti and malik
 
Sorry but Zimbabwe isn't the barometer of whether a player has what it takes. He is far too leg-side dominant against the pacers and any top team that do their homework will work him over unless he improves his shot range.

Unless you are hoping for a miraculous emergence of an AB Devilliers in our setup then we have very limited choices and need to build on him. He has been producing scores in the PSL and also the Domestic T20 tournament. Yes he should expand his range but you can’t take away nothing from this effort, which was very limited yet he availed it brilliantly.
 
I don’t know why I’m not convinced by him. He’s great against spinners but I feel better teams will eat him alive.

I actually think someone like Sohaib Maqsood could be utilised at number 6. He has natural timing and power.

Now they got Haider, Khushdil, Azam Khan and even Hafeez. Sharjeel, Fakhar, Shadab are some other options.

Please dont mention fakhar he used to be decent but hes been poor for a while now

If the bowler consistently bowls leg side garbage what should Khushdil do? Hit it on the offside and miss out on a six because Markhor thinks he's a legside hack.

He has hit the third highest number of T20 sixes in the world behind Pollard and can't remember who else, probably Gayle

That match against Balochistan on the NT20 may very well have reinvigorated his career. This time as an opening destroyer

I think for this very reason he has been picked by Peshawar Zalmi (seen pictures of him with the team in nets). Have a sneaking suspicion he will be opening.
 
Hes very powerful Bateman and a hard hitter if he can keep working on his offside that would be great

He’s not consistent or smart or hard working enough to open. That ship has sailed. However retrain him as a big hitter / finisher and give him the license to go crazy and his natural talent will mean he plays the kind of innings against pace that very few people in Pakistan are capable of.

Look he merits a run in the team given his domestic form, but his dismissals in the National T20 were concerning. As soon as a pacer threw it outside off, Khushdil was still trying to farm the ball to the legside.

Same thing happened in the Super Over vs ZIM. However if he can develop his game then fair play.

Tough decision he should fly back.but having said that if he does fly back someone else could take his position and may not be playing for pakistan for another year or so

PCB have confirmed that Khushdil will remain with the side in NZ and not return for his father's funeral.
