Saim Ayub’s mindset is so refreshing, man. No drama, no chasing records — just playing for the team and staying fearless. Love how he’s focused on improving every day. That’s the kind of attitude Pakistan needs!

-----------------

Saim Ayub speaking at the post-match presentation after Pakistan's victory against UAE in tri-series game:

"The team always needs contributions from different players, and that’s a good sign. I don’t care much about individual records — they’re overrated. For me, if the team wins, that’s enough. You just have to wait for the bad balls and play according to the pitch. I’m working on that with the coach, trying to improve every day. It’s difficult at times, but if you stay fearless, the game becomes easier."

Good attitude but then he can say it because he's doing well

That's the key

Get in those performances first, philosophies later

This is the problem with the majority of supporters in Pakistan

They don’t yet understand what Saim is saying. They want milestones for some weird reason in T20s lol

It wouldn't surprise me if Saim himself thought of RizBar as a bunch of frauds. Surely he must be aware that they are stat padders?

RizBar fans hate his guts. They think he is Camilla in the Diana+Charles wedding. He broke caused the two love birds to break up.

What I found interesting from “I would never replace Saim with Imam” is that he claims that Babar is the Pakistani GOAT of ODIs. This is why I now call him Credible Caved.

Saim Ayub scored 17 off 19 in ongoing AFG vs PAK tri series final

Most ducks in history of Pakistan in just one year of career . This record is what you should care about .

This is insane mediocrity. There is no way anyone else would have been given the same chances, another duck today to add to this list that is 5 ducks in the last 11 matches

How are intentful ducks helping the team? Especially for a team like Pakistan, you would want a stable 35 than a 4 ball 12! Anything over a duck is better, actually.

I am really surprised to find that Saim has never scored a 100 in T20s including domestic cricket.

I am now convinced he should not open again in the ongoing WT20 tournament. I would rather try Usman Khan or Nafay to partner with Farhan.

Saim Ayub has gone from a batter to a batting all-rounder to a bowling all-rounder.

He is a good bowler. You can tell that just by looking at the way he bowls. He isn't afraid to take risks and toss the ball up, his lengths are fantastic, he is able to get good turn. But I really wish he would start playing more impactful knocks with the bat. He is a really talented batter and I want nothing more than to see him live up to his potential.

so why he has been given such a extended run? 65 T20Is..thats a whole career not chances. Im quite surprised that you Still want to persist with him as an opener. This is kind of treatment that shows Liking and Disliking in our cricketing culture bereft of Justice. We dropped Hassan Nawaz after few failures. Only 25 chances were enough to drop him why? Because he aint nobody's favorite

There are lot of youngsters waiting for few chances and This guy plays like PCT his club team

All his dismissals have been self inflicted.

His shot selections against India & the Dutch were terrible. He chased wide deliveries against USA & Namibia when he didn’t need to.

His opening partner has been patient but measured whereas Ayub has been chasing quick scores.

Given how things have turned out for him, in my opinion Saim should give himself a few balls ( he decides how many ) that he can middle and feel the ball on bat, the pace and bounce of the pitch, and the quality of the bowling before launching himself. With his naturally aggressive approach, he’ll make up for the initial balls in no time. Low scores don’t give anyone any confidence, he should think about it (or the coaching staff should have a conversation with him around this approach).

he is also getting benefited due to teams not really planning or scrutinizing him much. Give him some time. He is a decent bowler but no way a very good bowler.

Saim Ayub needs to be careful about not becoming Irfan Pathan. In 2006 Irfan Pathan had become a better batter than a bowler and in the series against SA after the first tour game where he scored a 100* and 40* but bowled badly, he was sent back to India to improve his bowling in middle of the tour. If a player is doing better in his secondary skill than his primary, it is a warning sign.

Can't compare with Irfan. Irfan was an all format player. Ayub is serviceable only in T20 like Maxwell.

Seems like Ayub is more of a ODI player than T20 player. His record in ODIs and List A is way better than the other formats.

Bowlingwise
As a batter he is not suited for T20Is. Position 1 or 2 in the batting order is too high a number for him. Looks like a tail ender in this format as he tries to do too much. It is funny that Axar Patel averages 18 in T20Is but he is more reliable batter than Ayub. An average of 21 at a SR of 136 is not an opener material. He should bat at number 5 or 6 where he will not provide any advantage to Pakistan. A team which boasts of their bowling resources playing Saim just for his bowling is confusing.
