His growth as a cricketer and a batsman has completely plateaued. He learns nothing from one match to the next or one series to the next. BUT considering how much Pakistan has already invested in him, maybe some specialist mental and technical coaching should be done. If not as first-choice opener then as a back-up option when need be. If he continues to believe there's nothing wrong with his method, then don't let the door hit him on the way out.

Been found out on ball coming into him on good/full length...
survived due to lack of swing, bowlers trying to move it away from him
confidence completly shattered and the stress shows on him
dont know why Pak players think domestic cricket and club games are useless....

That's the point really, he was riding on the coat tail of Lynn who was doing all the genuine power hitting, as soon as the onus shifted to him once Lynn was out, he crumpled like tissue paper. The match was won by Lynn and Weise at the end, the Pakistani batsmen were just support role at best.

I understand your point but considering how Pak batsmen have been going this season I will take 63 (46) with SR of 137. He did start the aggression with Rahat's over and then Lynn took over after Sohail fell.
At this stage Sohail akhtar looks better player than him.

Even if this guy makes a triple century, his batting, his body, his whole being looks so disoriented and disorganised at the crease that he hardly looks convincing. You always get the feeling as if the next ball will have his name written on it.

I agree but we are not spoiled for options in batting unfortunately.
I am talking about his power hitting.Fakhar just drags everything which is not gonna work.
I actually liked Haider Ali, Babar Adam and Haider Ali can complement each other very well.

While it pleases me to see him do well for Lahore, but international cricket is of course a lot more demanding than that. He has to come up with a few more strokes other than the ugly slog over mid-wicket (mostly after coming down the track against spinners).

Absolutely right. Fakhar doesn't play in line, while he can hit balls on the offside when the ball is wide enough, he rarely plays the ball straight, anything on the stumps or just outside is going to get hoiked towards the legside. What makes it worse is that he has often made his mind up which shot he is playing before the ball has even been delivered. That is the big difference between him and Sharjeel. Sharjeel picks the ball up very quickly and can adjust his shot according to length as a result.
Fakhar is gonna fail badly again in Aus.
Fakhar is extremely fit, a very good & agile fielder with safe hands - one try he can give, which might save his career for at least two T20 WCs is that he can start Wicket Keeping. PAK’s T20 WKeeper situation is probably most vulnerable in world cricket and T20 doesn’t demand much from WKs. If Fakhar can keep reasonably (for T20 standards), it gives a much better balance to the XI.
At present, he is too risky for a specialist bat while none of the WKs available are good at the spot of 5-6 and there are better options than Sarfraz, Rizwan, Ruhail to bat in top 4. Long back, before emergence of Kamran, Woolmer did try to extract a WKeeper out of YK and played him as WKeeper in some games (one famous game I actually watched live at Eden). Even before that, Imran was the first Captain to promote WK Yousuf as pinch hitter, sometimes in 1990 WSC. I thought the same for Asif Ali, but Fakhar can be better than him for sure with bat & gloves.

He says he doesn't have any technical issues, then the very fault which was pointed out earier - i.e., he drags the ball from off to leg has been exposed again today. Played onto his stumps after trying to drag the ball across the line AGAIN.

Let's hope all the gun teams bowl spinners at Fakhar in Australia then. No doubt he will belt the living daylights out of them if they are so obliging.
One or two innings was enough for people to clamour for the return of a 40 year old kami. Both shouldn't be in the team but it's clear Fakhar is far ahead as a batsman.

I was there ! Also managed to get photos with him and most of the other World Cup squad .
I still don't think we should abandon him. He has scored knocks in important matches (CT17 final, 18 tri series final, 18 ODI series decider v NZL) which shows some mental toughness.
However his technique needs sorting out, but sadly I don't trust many of our local coaches.

“Criticising Fakhar Zaman’s technique when he scored a hundred against India in 2017 Champions Trophy final was like committing suicide. But even then, after Pakistan won the Champions Trophy, I said it on live television that if he doesn’t improve his technique then he will get stuck in future. Now look at him, he is stuck and is yet to show any improvement,” Mohammad Yousuf said in an interview.
He had a golden patch when he first started but to survive in international cricket for long periods you need a better technique and overall game than he posses.

What I admire about Fakhar is he's not afraid of the ball like some other openers i.e Shehzad comes to mind. He gets hit on the head plenty but never backs down and is always looking to score. He's a rare breed that brings courage and aggression to an otherwise weak lineup. Maybe we should try him at other positions if opening is not working. He's a must in t20 as we lack hitters.

Most Pakistani players feel that admitting and acknowledging weaknesses makes them less of men. Major reason why most don't improve. Babar Azam on the other hand is watching video tapes of his batting and others and trying to see where he can improve on chinks in his batting.

He's in category C, but there seems to be a desire to faze him out of the side. He needs to work on his technique if he wants to be a part of the side. Personally want to see Sharjeel and Haider opening in the LOIs.

Fakhar will likely be given a few more chances as final opportunities. Sharjeel does need to work on his fitness but if he can deliver with the bat opening then it works but his fitness needs to be worked on. As for Haider Ali, he is an opener by trait and I personally would like us to maybe blood and groom him to be a Pakistani opener for long-term.

Haider has done reasonably well in PSL in the middle order. Maybe he can be a option in the middle

This man had the talent to be a world class cricketer. He just didnt have the right coaching from the previous management. He had many weaknesses but neither did Grant Flower or Mickey Arthur solve his issues. Everyone knew that he had weaknesses with the short ball but Mickey Arthur did nothing about it.
Another thing is that if you look at all the cricketers that won us the Champions trophy, you will see that most of them are injured. The reason for this is that Mickey Arthur had them playing non stop and these cricketers body could not take it. Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammed Amir, are a few to name that are injured or are willing to not play test match. The reason why Amir quit Test is that since his comeback, Mickey had him playing non stop.
Mickey had no planning whatsoever. He never had a 2nd xi that were ready to play incase the main cricketers got injured. A proof of this no planning from the previous management is in the World Cup. Others teams found out Pak weaknesses and destroyed us.
What I like about what Misbah is doing is that he and the management is having a bunch of cricketers that are not playing but are in the picture and will be ready whenever they are needed. Also Misbah is not always playing our main cricketers in every match. He is being cautious with our young bowlers like Naseem and Shaheen. And that is the way forward.

We wasted far too many millions on Grant Flower, who couldn't improve Azhar, Shafiq, Imam, Fakhar.. none of them. Obviously, Mickey's losing streak is also there.
If he couldn't fix it, what's the use of a specialist batting coach who was paid millions?
You do realise it was Misbah who went with a 4 man attack in Australia that included a toothless Yasir, and then bowled Amir into the ground - which he never quite recovered from.

Who came up with this misbah,younis or fakhar ?
This was a video I took at Lord's in 2018 when Fakhar was working with Grant Flower in the nets.
Grant was having long chats with Fakhar and working on a few things with him. However every few balls there would be a lousy shot by Fakhar. A few times Flower shouted at Fakhar, a few times he stopped the session and spoke with him, explaining things to him.
In the end, Flower was getting more and more frustrated with him and told him to do 20 press-ups after every bad shot. Mark my words Fakhar did a lot of press-ups in that session.

I mean what else was Misbah supposed to do when two of your main bowlers called quits on Test format. In fact Misbah chose the best young fast bowlers for Test format. I mean do you see what Shaheen and Naseem are doing. At a young age both got 5 wicket haul and one got a hat trick. In Australia, Pakistan do not do well. If you look at Pak history, they never do well in Australia. Misbah made some tough decisions, but these decisions are already bringing success and is going to bring more success.

Pakistan came into the match in the back of a crushing defeat in their opening fixture against arch-rivals India and Fakhar was brought in to open the batting in place of Ahmed Shehzad. The match had multiple interruptions due to rain and Pakistan ultimately won the match by 19 runs as they were 119/3 at the start of the 27th over of their chase when rain brought an end to the proceedings.

Well maybe that’s the problem then isn’t it. The first step to improve is recognising your shortcomings or faults so you can work on them. If Fakhar thinks there’s nothing wrong with his technique that’s just nonsense. He’s already been worked out in internationals and is living of that CT final and 200 vs Zimbabwe. Struggles vs spin even on wickets that don’t offer much. Also struggles vs pace and gets crammed up even when the ball isn’t doing much. Needs to be replaced ASAP by a more deserving youngster.

The problem is that he thinks his technique is good enough and hence why he hasnt worked on his game even if he hasnt got any weekensses you would stil work on your game to become even better.even the best in the world smith kohli work on thier game even if they are scoring big runs
and 6 in the 2nd innings.
Struggling is an understatement.
What are the coaches doing? Why is he just being thrown back into match after match in the hope that he may score some runs.
