"I don't want to say anything. Truth is bitter" : Junaid Khan tweets image with tape on his mouth

He should have some shame, as he didn't even merit a spot in the series against England, let alone at the World Cup. Immature, arrogant, entitled mentality.

Personal likings and dislikings have always destroyed lives and careers in Pakistan Cricket

Hasan Ali in his last 7 matches:

369 Runs 5 Wickets Average 74 Eco 6.5+ Best 1 for 33 6 overs

He hasn't taken 2 wickets single time. Now let's be fair to Junaid and drop all others as well( Amir, Hasan, Shaheen, Wahab, Hasnain and Faheem)

Team should be:

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Imam Ul Haq
3) Babar Azam
4) Haris Sohail
5) Sarfraz Ahmed(C)(Wk)
6) Mohammad Rizwan
7) Mohammad Hafeez
8) Shoaib Malik
9) Asif Ali
10) Imad Wasim
11) Shadab Khan

Well you definitely didn't get my point. But if you are telling me Wahab is his replacement then you are setting pretty low standards for inclusion of a bowler :))

Well said at least he souldnt posted it in social media.Mulk ki izzat bhi hoti hai yaar.
Exactly. The sense of entitlement is sickening.

Wahab Riaz is no different. I remember how long he has been lobbying for a spot in the team, using whatever means necessary. Pretty much every media outlet suddenly starts singing praises for this mediocre bowler, as if aadhi raat ko kisi ne kaalaa jaadu kar diya hai un pe. He has cost Usman Shinwari a well-deserved spot in the squad.

Are you seriously defending Junaid here? I'm not thrilled with either Wahab or Amir making the squad, but you have to have next level agenda to defend this third-class do takkay ka 'fast' bowler. England waited for him to come on, before they unleashed themselves and took 16 runs off his over, when 19 were needed off 12 and Hasan had just bowled a sensational over.

This 'pace- sensation proceeded to bowl a wide half-volley to Adil Rashid, who could have only found a boundary with THAT one shot. That is how stupid and dumb he really is. And then he has the nerve to post something like this. This na-shukra should be banned from ever representing Pakistan.

Besharam.

23 runs needed off 18 delveries. They had 4 wickets in hand at this point. The game was well over before Junaid bowled the penultimate over where 19 was needed off 12 deliveries. It is a stupid excuse to exclude someone just because of a game that was already out of our reach. Those grounds are too small for 23 runs off 18 balls to be defended. Here are the bowling performances off Hasnain and Hasan Ali leading to second last over.

46.6 Mohammad Hasnain to Curran, no run, taking the pace off and another swing and a miss
46.5 Mohammad Hasnain to Curran, 2 runs, bit of width and Curran flays this up and over point for a couple more
46.4 Mohammad Hasnain to Curran, no run, short outside off, Curran has a big ole yahoo and misses
46.3 Mohammad Hasnain to Stokes, 1 run, full and wide of the stumps, Stokes chops down for one into the covers
46.2 Mohammad Hasnain to Stokes, SIX runs, look out in the crowd! Picks him up from a length and lifted for six at deep midwicket! Stokes grabbing this game by the lapels at the last

46.1 Mohammad Hasnain to Stokes, 2 leg byes, round the wicket, full and sliding into the pads, it deflects fine and they come back for two

Ten off that over. Four more of those will do for England. 34 off 24 needed

45.6 Hasan Ali to Stokes, 1 run, length outside off, 87mph and guided through backward point
Here's Rohan: "Bumble (former umpire, cricketer turned best comedian) on commentary has said that one bail is enough. For the fielder to remove the stump and have ball in one hand is only needed after both bails were already dislodged. So that was out. However, he raised a valid point. If the stump is lit, is it out? Cos the bail is not out of the groove (by the law it has to be) when the bat touches the line but is lit. We all don't know what is true!"

45.5 Hasan Ali to Curran, 1 run, pace off again, flicked away through backward square leg
45.4 Hasan Ali to Curran, no run, slower ball, loops over the stumps as Curran swings wildly across the line!
45.3 Hasan Ali to Curran, FOUR runs, fullish, wide of the stumps and slashed up and over backward point! Into the gap again, to the delight of the crowd!
45.2 Hasan Ali to Curran, FOUR runs, heaves across the line, gets this away... another boundary skids to fine leg! Curran landing his punches
45.1 Hasan Ali to Curran, no run, punched back to the bowler, Hasan shapes to throw down the stumps as Curran skips back

44 off 30 needed

On what basis did Wahab, Shaheen and Hasnain get selected but junaid did not? I would love to hear the justification from the selectors. This is injustice tbh, you can not have one rule for one and another for Junaid.

Rather than blame the other bowlers, he should look within himself and realize conceding 16 runs off the penultimate over is a joke. You conveniently forgot the over Hasan bowled previously. Where did I say we were guaranteed a win? Junaid's over just brought a close match down to an embarrassing conclusion for us.

It's not stupid if the execution was beyond a joke. The first delivery he bowled to Adil Rashid was a wide half-volley, which needed an edge to go square of third man. Which is exactly what happened. You have either a long-on or long-off in place to a new batsman, why not target his stumps and make him earn that single?

These kind of small things make a huge difference and shows the worth of a bowler in pressure situations.

Also kudos on comparing an experienced cricketer with 8 years of international experience to a lad who's only played a handful of LOI games. Shabash :yk

Shaheen's selection needs no explanation.

As for Wahab and Hasnain, Inzi said that they wanted bowlers with more pace in the lineup because they felt that medium pacers will struggle.

Lol nice to see a cricket expert on PP log explaining to me what field placings a bowler needs to bowl to.

Besides the outside edge that went for 4 on the last ball, he was pretty much consuming as much as the other bowlers were bar one exceptional over from Hasan Ali

Junaid was exposed in the first match he played in the England series, when the stump microphone clearly picked up the batsmen saying “all he has is his angle, no pace or movement to worry about”.

But please. This was the supposed spearhead for the 2012-13 South African Test tour, who refused to play complaining that he had scraped some skin off by banging into a door handle!

Idiot.

He should've bowled better and not the trundling crap with no sign of seam or swing at all. Instead he was hammered and has been getting hammered for a while too. He didn't merit a inclusion.

Please put a tape on our eyes as well Junaid. We dont want to see you getting smacked all over or doing fumbles in the field.

Also need to mention another big reason for this decision is his lousy fielding and zero batting ability, wahab is better in just those aspects alone.
It's hard to know final impact but a lot of the loss in series was due to bad fielding both in terms of catches but also misfields, boundaries, overthrows, etc.

Poor attitude from Junaid but I can understand his frustration. This definitely marks the end of his career. With plethora of new fast bowlers coming, it is most likely that Junaid is not going to find a place on the team anymore.

There was the same debate before CT and Juanid proved to be far better than Wahab in that tournament. This time again, he's replaced by Wahab and yet other bowlers who also went over 8 RPOs kept their place.

If I were Junaid, I would improve my death bowling skills and become T20 mercenary.

Why was he selected in the squad and why is he dropped ?? someone needs to explain to me this. Pakistan selectors and PCB is a joke that is the fact, and nothing can hide this fact.

You realize 2017 was two years ago, right?

By that logic, Amir's last match winning performance was also two years ago but still selected.

Secondly, What Wahab had done in past 4 years at international level to get selection in WC squad ?

Its like anyone who wasn't part of England series and smashing is a legend all of sudden ?

Wahab and Amir were lucky that they weren't part of this England series, the harsh truth.

These are the guys that should be getting the sack for their sheer incompetence.

So Pakistan finished their last ODI yesterday, realistically Junaid Khan is still sharing a hotel and team bus with Pakistan team players and management.

What a toxic atmosphere to be surrounded with

Mohammad Hasnain ODI stats

9 overs 0/54 vs Australia

5 over 0/50 vs Australia

9 overs 2/52 vs Australia

10 overs 2/80 vs England

8 overs 1/67 vs England

Mohammad Amir ODI stats

31 overs 161 Runs 2 Wickets Average of 80.50 in 2019

And these are mostly on South African wickets that had low scores on them.

Conveniently became unavailable in the past 9 games which somehow were the highest scoring run series we have played in a while.

The other bowlers dont get to pick and choose to play on pitches they prefer.

Shaheen Shah in England -

10 overs 1/80
10 overs 0/83
10 overs 4/82

Consistently going over 8 an over.

I think I have proved my point.

So whats the difference between the performance of a guy who is veteran of 100 international and newbies?

As I have said in my first post even after playing more than 100 international matches if he cant perform better than the likes of Shaheen an Hasnaian who are newbies and 18-19 years old than he should not argue. As with a young guy you always are hopeful he can improve with experience and exposure, same doesnt apply to Junaid anymore.

Two bowlers bowling as good or bad as each other one but one is 30 and other is 19, its not a tough choice to make considering the 19 has a higher ceiling and he is already doing as good or bad as that 30 bowler.

He is not with the team now. He has been released today.

Fully agree. Amir, Junaid, Wahab are all riding past performances. Shinwari, Hassan, Shaheen are the only pacers who have actually performed in the last 2 years

He can take a hike for all I care.

He was selected and played against Australia in UAE. Failed.

He was selected and played against England in England. Humiliated.

He has himself to blame. Rather than accept his shortcomings, he comes up and posts such rubbish on social media. Good riddance.

This!

Why is he complaining?

While the Tweet is not called for, to suggest JK was poor in the England series is misleading given all the Pakistan bowlers were spanked.

Would like a comparison of Amir and Junaid's economy? Both have been mediocre no doubt but Junaid who has played last 5 out of last 9 matches and has gone for plenty and pace was also down. Its not about how good is Junaid or how bad he is its just about what conditions demand and we have all witnessed that pitches are really flat in Eng and his pace is down so I cant think of his utility in the WC if we are going to see such wickets.

The only difference is Junaid's chances span a gap of 6 months in between and he was not considered for the matches against NZ and SA if you are considering him compared to Shaheen. I can understand Hasnain not coming in for too much critcism.

Whereas his replacements aren't Hasnain and Shaheen. He has been replaced by Wahab and Amir, and their stats are for everyone to see. I don't mind seeing Junaid on the bench, but Wahab as his replacement is just a shock to see.

He is not with the team now. He has been released today.

even worse. He broke bread and stayed with these guys for so long. As soon as he is released he reacts in this manner. Childish. there are much better and honourable ways of expressing displeasure. This will become an iconic picture (for the wrong reasons) but it really is not appropriate.

The economy can't be compared to the last 9 games that our teams have participated in. Amir is fortunate not to play on these flat tracks.

I'm sure things could've been handled better. England showed Alex Hales the door but they dealt with the matter professionally.

I guess Junaid is indicating that there's a powerful insider-lobby working in the pak change-room & the axe fell on him because he's not 'buddies' with some of those influential people, is not a member of the "inner-circle" who hold sway in selection matters.

Internal politicking will always hold Pakistan back, as has been the case in the past.

Currently in England, the temperature are around 15-19 degrees, ball doesn't swing in these conditions. In June it is expected that the temperature will rise which will help the swing bowlers to get some movement no matter what the pitch is. Lastly, if it gets cloudy and warm, expect more wickets.

He did play first match against NZ where he was wicket less and went for 56 in his 9 and after that he became unfit. Against SA bowling attack was doing OK and we did decent in the series and lost 2-3. He played 3 matches against Aus and now 2 against Eng, I dont know how many matches one needs to prove himself.

Wahab last played ODI in 2017 but he was pretty impressive in PSL especially at the death overs where our current team is struggling. Even in PSL Junaid Khan was mediocre. So he hasnt performed in either international or domestic to prove any form.

Amir has replaced Faheem, while Amir has been pretty poor with the new ball in terms of taking wickets but it hasnt been like that he has been bowling rubbish and going for plenty in every match and his economy will be able to reflect that.

Everyone else doing poorly doesnt warrant you a place in national team by saying that you were less poor. The only way you can surely get a place is by performing, deciding or complaining who was less poor is a useless excercise and Junaid should have understood that.

I understand that however there are lots of ifs and buts involved as nothing can be predicted with certainty and you can only make decision based upon whats in front of you. Although, even if wickets become pacer friendly we have got three pacers in Amir, Shaheen and Hassan who can utilize utilize such conditions.

Immature. He hasn’t performed well enough. He offers nothing in these conditions.

I am just disappointed with the fact that our chief selector has a reactive and biased selection policy. Chopping and changing based on few matches just before the WC can harm the dressing room environment.

In simple terms, a selector should be pro-active and have same rules and policy for all available players.

He was dropped due to his performance. His bowling and fielding was poor.It was fair to drop him and bring in Wahab who is better fielder and batsman. He has good pace too so on these dead wickets he may be more effective. If he bowls like h e did in PSL then he will be dangerous especially with the old ball.

It took Inzi to fly to UAE to convince Mickey Arthur to play Junaid against Bangladesh and he picked up 4 wickets immediately in a tournament where all the pacers struggled. Just contrast the treatment of Amir with Junaid, the former gets to play 14-15 ODI matches in a row with just 3 wickets to show for it while the later gets shown the door after 1-2 average games.

Nice to see a cricket 'expert' try to convince us that Junaid's performance was decent. He was the worst bowler on display that night. It might be a bitter pill for you to swallow, but as they say, sach karwa hota hai :junaid

And how did Woods, Woakes, Willey, T Curren, Plunkett respond to Archer's emergence?

Competition brings out the best.

Replacing him with an inferior Wahab Riaz was a bad move by PCB, however Junaid has not done enough to retain a place in the squad, let alone the side.

Instead of the bald-patched spray gun slinger, I would have given Haris Rauf a go. Yes he’s raw but I think he could have been the wild card selection that could spring a surprise or two to those batsmen who haven’t seen much of him.

As for Junaid’s post I have no words for his drama. It’s about time from now on PCB enrol all their players on to some social media training and that’s not a joke. We’ve already seen Babar make a fool out of himself with his response to Zainab Abbas on Twitter as well, not so long ago.

This is a major concern for the current crop of players coming through the ranks, because they do not how to handle themselves responsibly with all this fame, which shouldn’t come to much surprise, as they all virtually come from the same background (poorly educated and lack social skills). As a Pakistan fan, it’s just embarrassing to see the mannerisms of these players and I’m not talking merely of controversies but the meek characters you find nowadays in this team. No matter how well players like Babar Azam and Asad Shafiq progress in their careers, they will never be star material.

Goes back to what Mamoon was saying, it’s vital Pakistan cricket can somehow diversify the source of talent coming through the system.

I remember in a domestic game Umar Akmal was skipper and said something at the toss that he doesn't know where Junaid is, he disappeared this morning.

This chief selector deserves more than a harmless tweet like a corruption investigation, Pakistan has laws to tackle conflict of interest issues and blatant nepotism.

Junaid Khan's misfields indicated not everything is fine in the dressing room. They would've dropped him anyways as he is the only player Azhar, Mickey and cs Inzamam agree on. They disagree on the rest.

Obviously there are things that have been going on behind the scenes and he is frustrated, but whatever the issue was he shouldn't have done this tweet.

But understandably you're right.

Dont ever change pakistan, dont ever ever change.

Probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen tweeted.

Comparing apples with oranges here. Hales was dropped due to non on-field issues. Junaid was dropped on the basis of poor performance when none else has set the world on fire. Yet, everyone else was retained and the two pacers with zero recent performance are making a come back.

It is evident that the people in power that is Inzy, Mickey, and Sarfraz do not rate Junaid much. Though, Mickey is not a big fan of Wahab, he may have considered it an upgrade when batting and fielding is concerned. Mickey always supports pseudo-allrounders.

Junaid's bitterness over the entire matter is understandable. However, he should have handled it more gracefully rather than becoming a meme.

Pakistani players when they are dropped:
"I am less rubbish than my replacement"

I dont want to say anything. Truth is bitter. (Sach karwa hotha hai) :jk

What truth? That you are a shadow of the bowler you once were? That your pace is down so much that you might as well be replaced by a bowling machine? That your performances left us losing games?

You're right Junaid. The truth is bitter. Now step aside.

There have been rumours that he is a piece of work in the dressing room, his recent behaviour vindicates these theories. Forget performance, why would anyone defend an idiot with a crap attitude

According to this Sarfaraz Ahmed is the captain and bumrah isn’t even in it so India should drop bumrah too

So you mean Junaid didn't perform in CT17 and was not among the best players in the tournament ?

Could have been a lot of worse, he's actually been quite restrained after finding out Wahab Riaz has been picked over him. :misbah

Pathetic mentality. Our players never take any responsibility
Not good enough. Should be the end of his international career.

Junaid may or may not deserve selection but to pick Wahab Riaz as his replacement is a huge leap backwards. I'm looking forward to phasst Wahab being shown his auqaat and smashed for a 100.

This is what happens when chief selector thinks he can pick any Joe Cricketer off the street and nobody will ask a question. Inzi needs to be booted out ASAP.

As long as Mickey is coach I don't think Junaid will play for Pakistan again.

The team management disappointed with Junaid's bowling and his fielding.

Pakistan don’t deserve fake fans like you. No sane pakistani fan would ever Wish that for his own player. Moreover has Riaz stolen your Ice cream since you are wishing bad for him and ultimately for Pakistan.

And PTI supporters, don’t be surprised if this poster start hating Imran Khan in future.

Mind your business you do not decide what opinion I should or shouldn't have.

You might be ok with people using connections and corruption to get to the side doesn't mean I have to be ok with it too.

So does Clive Lloyd sit deaf and mute in the selection meetings ? Hard to believe he has no say given he insisted on his PSL teammate's Hasnain selection despite hardly playing any List A cricket.

As long as Mickey is coach I don't think Junaid will play for Pakistan again.

The team management disappointed with Junaid's bowling and his fielding.

We also thought the same for Wahab Riaz and umar akmal.

Micky is a puppet and all bark no bite.

Yes Clive Lloyd makes all the selection decisions and Inzi just sits there saying "jee sir yes sir aur koi huqum saday laiq". That's what you want to hear?

I can fully understand his frustration, not because he necessarily deserved to be in the side but to replace him with Wahab who is the epitomy of TTF and Amir who was dropped BECAUSE he had not taken many wickets in the last two years...yet makes it back on the basis of what exactly? If Junaid was to be dropped, it should have been for Umer Khan or Haris Rauf or Rumman Raees, not a bowler on the wrong side of 30 and one who does not take wickets.

Once again, the Pakistani selection is playing to the media in attendance and not to a tested plan.

Spot on

I dont see Mickey Arthur keeping his job after the ODI WC so its only a short term jolt to Junaid.

Hes obviously very disappointed and probably has a right to be given that others performed as bad if not worse than him but you just csnnot behaveblike this He has to show more professionalism and this tweet was very disappointing from a seasoned senior pro

Yes he has probably always had the short end of the straw compared to amir and wahab but he hasnt always helped himself either with his attitude and poor batting and fielding

in this series he has been to be fair probably the most mediocre bowler of them all barring faheem

Youd have thought as this was a trial run for the tourney hed have bought his a game but sadly he was very mediocre The lack of pace and movement as well as being awful in the field made the decision quite easily for inzy even though there were more deserving candidates than spray gun wahab he does at least bring more passion and energy in the field with him something sadly junaid lacks

Not sure why we are having a go at the poor lad

His dreams of playing in WC are shattered.

Let him express himself!
