Waqar Younis speaking to the press
"We will make an assessment about the conditions which are expected in the next match and give our views to Misbah and he will decide what's the best XI to play"
"I don't see that happening [Amir playing last Test match] and we aren't even preparing him for this. He's done with the red ball format & is working hard with white ball cricket so we'll stick with him with the white ball for now"
"Test match cricket has been played like this in England for a long time and only one Test match has happened with a pink ball here; Pink ball cricket is still being played on a trial basis across the world to see if there aren't any problems because if this and it is able to generate revenues as well; Big runs were scored and seamers took wickets in the pink ball game in England but what needs to be seen is how the pink Duke ball will behave in this condition; It might do a bit too much as we saw in Australia when the lights came on, the ball used there moved around a bit too much; Strategies need to be changed and toss becomes important; So lots to consider but I feel its a very good idea and I personally feel that Test cricket can be played in the night time, people will adapt in the same way they adapted and adjusted to OD and T20 formats; From what I have seen of pink ball cricket, I feel it can work"
"I have always been in favour of as few changes to Test cricket as possible; This the traditional form of cricket and the only format that completely tests [your abilities]; It should be left as is - increasing or decreasing duration of Test matches is not wise in my view; Its beautiful as is, where the result can come in 3, 4 or 5 days depending upon the conditions of the pitch etc; 5 days are perfect for Test match cricket"
"Players, umpires have said that when artificial light completely takes over it becomes difficult to play as they have difficulty sighting the ball; However I feel play can continue unless light is really bad - I feel under certain artificial light conditions match should continue and the Test should be completed"
"Now I suppose I can say anything as the match didn't complete! But fact is that when we reached 200+ runs, a positive energy did come in the dressing room because we had a decent total, the ball was swinging a lot and we knew that our bowlers had the ability to trouble England batsmen; This is something you must have seen today that Abbas, Naseem and Shaheen all bowled well; I feel that we had prepared well for the full match but unfortunately we weren't able to complete it due to rain; The next game is coming up which will be played in these or similar conditions and I feel we will be well prepared for that"
"Conditions were very tough, Rizwan played a brave innings coming at number 7 and batting with the tail and scoring 72 runs; It was a positive and well calculated innings as its not easy to bat with the tail; He created some short partnerships and brought Pakistan to such a total that we all started to feel confident that we were in the game"
[How does he feel about the fact that Pakistan missed a Test vs Bangladesh, and this Test lost to rain - how is it effecting our chances in the WTC?]
"What can one say? No one can fight the weather as it's an act of God, and this does happen in England; We saw in the England games vs West Indies that there was some rain and the matches were interrupted but unfortunately here we just didnt get any cricket; If you play a series in England then you must be prepared for the fact that the weather will play its role; You cannot complain about it as that's how cricket goes"
"I cannot answer the question on team selection; We have three days before next game and you cannot predict the English weather; This will be considered and Misbah will know which team to play or what changes to make if the weather changes; At the moment, no thought has been given to this"
