"I felt my performances in Australia were better as an all-rounder" : Mohammad Hafeez

I have watched Malik's entire career, beginning from the match when he played as a specialist spinner in Sharjah as Saqlain's replacement.

His average of 40 as a top order batsman is one of the most misleading stats in the game.

Averages:
21 vs Australia at 42 SR
5 vs England at 46 SR
12 vs SA at 30 SR
26 vs WI at 49 SR

He played a lot of matches against India and SL (27 of 52) as a top order batsman and no wonder he did well against those pathetic fast bowling attacks. Then, there are another 11 matches, he played again minnows. So, his average of of 40 includes 38 of 52 matches against minnows or minnow level fast bowling attacks.

Against NZ, he just played 2 matches as a top order batsman and scored a century in Lahore against the bowling attack of Tuffey, Adams, and Styris, again a pathetic bowling attack.

I am neutral about Malik. He makes it to team on merit right now as a middle order batsman and definitely adds more value than Hafeez as he is better in all three aspects of game at the moment. However, he never was a top-order batsman and people would be hating him equally had he played as many matches as Hafeez in the top order. His game against fast bowlers has deteriorated even further since his come back and looks scared facing short balls.
Mamoon, any counter argument?

Sorry to say, but MMHS is going the same route as other stats twisters on this forum.

Such people twist stats to make one of the poorest batsmen in our history somehow look good. Actually, these stats are used to justify continued selection of a failure.

Not interested in so-called batsmen who can't put bat on ball against anything over 133kph.

Not interested in chokers. Malik has cost us countless matches in tournaments especially. Remember - he's playing since the 90s for Pkaistan!

For the kids of today who have only watched him bully Bangladesh/Zimbabwe/WI, here are the averages of don bradman :malik -

vs. Australia: 27
vs. England: 19
vs. New Zealand: 25
vs. South Africa: 36

In England: 12
In Australia: 30
In New Zealand: 9

So, kids, don't let people fool you over Malik. He's the master of taking advantage of how PCB works, and has been fooling the selectors, public, everyone for DECADES.

I think it's time miandadrules or the Great Khan sees this thread/arguments of Malik brigade. :))) :)))

Never said he was perfect.

It's funny how you will present stats like these to make Malik look rubbish but when your shown stats exposing Umar , there's always an excuse for it.

You just need to accept Malik is one of our better players in LO atm

Difference is, Umar has lots of potential.

Malik doesn't, and never did. He's a sitting duck vs half decent bowling and struggles to put bat on bowl against pacers.

And, he's been fooling the public since the 90s, not sure how old were you at that time.

Not interested in such one dimensional batsmen-pretenders. You're free to back him.

What has Umar ever done with that potential LOL?

Come back to me when Umar can play a knock like Malik did vs India in 2009 champions trophy. Look at umars fitness. Malik at 35 is more fitter. :))).

He deserves his spot in the team.

Terrible match for Prof. Hope the catch he took doesn't book his place for the next match.

I am sure they have seen this thread - might not have the motivation any more .....:( Besides, Malik isn't scoring 343 at MCG any more ....

Move on professor, the new kid has arrived, thanks for your services, goodbye.

Not before 2020 - he might have completed his customary phone to Inzi & Shahriar regarding their health, what mistakes he did in this match, what are his mitigation plan, how the current series needs a player like him, how he is going to fit into team's needs & what are his future plans regarding his cricket. And of course - end with a punch statement - PoS is a spinners paradise, with WI likely to play 3/4 lefties, I am really excited for the 3 T20s for a final show down. This will make sure that Arthur doesn't drop him in next 6 matches - even MoHa is good enough to score in one of those 6 or take couple of wickets ..............
