"The pitch has more moisture today and our bowlers bowled well today"

"Yasir Shah was bowling very well but was a bit unlucky that he couldnt get more wickets"

"Kane Williamson and BJ Watling were batting really well and our strategy was to contain them as much as possible so that they make the mistakes"

"On this wicket, whatever is happening is happening due to the bowler's efforts; its not due to the wicket"

"This wicket is a better wicket [for cricket] than we had for the first two [games]"

"Its obvious that when you start off well and then a few matches don't go too well, then you will feel worried"

"I have been given the role to contain but also have been little unlucky as I am not getting wickets"

"But I am trying [my best] and today whilst bowling to contain, I got two wickets towards the end of play as well"

"So day-by -day I am doing well and learning what is required to do well in international cricket"

"After end of the match, we analyse our pace with Mickey Arthur and our bowling coach and work on it as well"

"Compared to earlier, I have now varied my pace by 4-6%"

"I have received a lot of support from my seniors such as Yasir and Mohammad Hafeez as well as from Mickey Arthur and our bowling coach"

"When things are not going well, the seniors. like Hafeez really helped me and gave me advice"

"Its going well for me and today I gained some confidence as I bowled well because in the last few games, I could not get wickets and so I was worried"

"I will try and finish this match on a good note"

"In our opinion, the wicket played well for batting today"

"Our intention is to get New Zealand out as soon as possible and then the match will depend on how well we play in the first innings"

He gets a slagged off here but he has actually started his career pretty well, bowling economically very well and averaging 26-27 after 5 tests. He provides much needed control in the bowling attack.

Deserves to remain in the squad especially given the lack of right arm offies coming through the ranks. Hafeez is better suited for bowling in LOIs than tests but he is well past his sell by date.

He is playing as a bowling all rounder , its time he should contribute something with the bat.

Honestly I can’t understand the flak he’s getting. He’s a fantastic prospect. Yes he has a bit more to develop but he’s got all the attributes to make a world class offie in a year or two. Has got good control and accuracy with flight and bounce. It doesn’t matter yet if he doesn’t contribute with the bat. A tight offie to assist Yasir and abbass is exactly what we need right now. Wickets will come.

I think he's doing a good job.

At the end of the day he's no Yasir Shah but he has done well and by and large bowled with discipline and bowled some superb deliveries.

Watched him bowl. He looks like a very patient bowler. Too patient for my liking. Needs to show some fire. And if he bats ugly again in this test he aint getting picked ever again. It is absolute criminal to see spinners who cant bat in this day and age.

Prospects aren’t usually aged 33.

What does age have to do with it?? Some great cricketers have played well into late 30’s and 40’s. Batsmen and their reflexes waning is one thing but spinners is quite another.

Difference they don't come from a rubbish first class cricket. Dismissing tail enders isn't enough to convince me. He isn't showing anything that makes him able to be a threat long term.

He is a decent bowler but still not convinced that he can be our main spinner along with Yair shah.

Deserves to go to South Africa. He may relish those conditions even more I dare say given the bounce.

Hes not terrible, but he's too old, not a good investment. Next test in Asia is a year away though, and knowing Pakistani selectors he won't even be selected for them. Hopefully Zafar Gohar comes in next year.

According to some on here he can't spin the ball :)).

9 wickets @ 17.55 versus Australia

7 wickets so far @ 29.14 versus New Zealand

He's doing a decent job. Some people must be expecting miracles from the guy.

Decent bowler but nothing that suggests he’s here to stay.

Would rather invest in someone younger and with more to offer with the bat.

This guy should be playing in SA ahead of any spinner, including Yasir. He gets good bounce and WILL trouble bats there.

And Mickey Arthur chose not to play him against Sri Lanka in 2017

He is average and taking wickets of tailenders shouldn't change that fact.

Better spinners are available and should be playing ahead of him.

He is tall and will extract bounce, meaning he would be useful on pitches with a bit of bounce and could be useful in SA, otherwise he shouldn't be selected.

So many stupid comments it’s unreal. We don’t have an army of offspinners period.

The guy bowls with control and accuracy gets bounce, is economical has variety and is a fantastic partner to Yasir and abbass. I honestly don’t care if he gets a run or not, he’s a full time bowler and been a long time coming. Now hafeez can be replaced with a proper batsman.

Rubbish first class cricket? Yes Pakistan domestic is awful..but some do well in spite of it. (Not because of it)

If you can't take wickets on a Day 4 UAE pitch after bowling 28 overs then I don't see how you can be a long-term option.

Another spinner who turned out to be a one-hit wonder!
