Manjrekar got into the team because he was Vijay manjrekars son and was coached by the best in Mumbai batsmanship. He was a avg batsman.

You never know. If Rohit played test cricket regularly for the last 7 years he could have been even better than what he is now.

Anyway I still feel that's Rohit's "failure" in test cricket (that too only by Indian standards - in any other team he would be playing every single test match), is overstated and quite a bit of fluke. The guy averages over 54 in FC. There's no way that he isn't "good enough" for test cricket.

As fate would have it, Kohli went on to hit a half century in the next test. And in the one after that (4th test) he scored his maiden test century.

Ironically, the legacy of Kohli began literally days after Manjrekar wrote that tweet. It started with the test century at Adelaide and went into overdrive in the following ODI tri series where Kohli smashed Malinga for 24 in am over and chased down 320 in 36 overs.

He was the BBC cricket commentator, who later became the Times and Telegraph cricket correspondent. As I have said many times in these threads, I don't need anyone to tell me what's going on, I have watched enough Cricket to know. I find most commentators bland, and SM is one of those and bar Atherton, Chappell and a few others, it's a much of a muchness.
