"I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea" : Ravindra Jadeja to Sanjay Manjrekar

Nothing wrong in being called ‘bits and pieces cricketer’, they make a fortune these days.

Jadeja is neither a great batsman or bowler, so what should we call him?

Manjreker was very good at start of his career and below average later now.

It was true for him as a player and its true for him as a commentator.

Nothing wrong in being called ‘bits and pieces cricketer’, they make a fortune these days.

Jadeja is neither a great batsman or bowler, so what should we call him?

In ODIs or tests?

He is in the all-time top 3 Asian spin A/Rs in tests.

Only one commentator from India who dares to call spade a spade, and is not their typical cheerleader, and is hated to the core.

His analysis and voice are not the worst either. Haven't heard plain stupid comments from him a la Ramiz Raja either.

It's intriguing why anti mangeraker campaign has been going on for so long and has reached such a wide audience that an international cricketer doesn't hesitate to lash out to him to a harmless comment

In odis, jadeja is definitely worse than agarkar. And agarkar was touted as lower order batsmen. Jadeja , remember ct 2017 ended your odi career or put a full stop to your odi regular place.

He was the BBC cricket commentator, who later became the Times and Telegraph cricket correspondent. As I have said many times in these threads, I don't need anyone to tell me what's going on, I have watched enough Cricket to know. I find most commentators bland, and SM is one of those and bar Atherton, Chappell and a few others, it's a much of a muchness.

I agree 100 %. I have fond memories of listening to late Richie Bernau, Tony Greig growing up. Even Gawaskar used to be decent back then. Now just like everything in cricket, standard of commentary have fallen. I cant stand SM n co. I mostly mute when he is on mic. For me personally, Bangladeshi commentators are worst. I didn't even watched India vs Bang match to avoid listening to them. I prefer listening to hindi commentary than these guys.

Yaar tbh Jadeja is the definition of a bits and pieces cricketer in ODIS

I despise Manju. But he is a commie. It is based on personal opinion not what Jadeja wants you to think

192 test wickets @23. Thats a extremely good test record.

In Odis he is

Tests he is a proper spinner

I am actually surprised to see his test record. I think he and Ashwin benefitted immensely by playing on spinning minefields in India to recover from whitewashes we received traveling abroad.

Manjrekar can go take a hike. I remember replying to this tweet raising my objection to dropping kohli and he asked me to apply common sense before I raise an issue and blocked me.

He did? Were you disrespectful in your reply? Or is it that he can’t hear anyone speak against his opinion?

I am actually surprised to see his test record. I think he and Ashwin benefitted immensely by playing on spinning minefields in India to recover from whitewashes we received traveling abroad.

What about records of visiting spinners in india ?

Jadeja is a proper good bowler in ODIs as well. His economy rate of less than 5 is amazing in the era he has played when 300 is just par.

I wonder if the present Pakistani players can say this about the ex players criticizing them non stop in the media

Bowling average of 28 in Australia and 25 in South Africa. :shh

I was ofcourse totally respectful but he probably must have had lots of replies to that tweet and must have had little patience that day. Either ways his opinions don’t hold much water to me considering how biased he can get.

Manjrekar hates SRT,Ganguly and Dravid.

Manjrekar was made to believe from childhood that he would be the heir to Gavaskar. Ofcourse Tendulkar was much better than this elitist.

Dravid and Ganguly finished his career.

Well, Majrekar had no such thoughts about being an elitist.
You should read Sanjay Manjrekar's autobiography. That will tell you what he thought of himself growing up.

Well said this. Not that it makes Manju didi any less of an irritant though!!

I despise Manju. But he is a commie. It is based on personal opinion not what Jadeja wants you to think
This. Amount of LoI cricket Jadeja plays/played, he should've been a far better LoI cricketer than he is.

SM though sometimes can be annoying but he is a good narrator.
By being critical of players is right and well within his right as a commie ,perhaps he should have avoided it directly name calling a player as bits and pieces as it is not something any player would like to be associated with.

192 test wickets @23. Thats a extremely good test record.

SanjuManju isn't talking about his test record though, jadeja is a good test player, but nothing wrong to say that he is a bits and pieces cricketer in LoI's he isn't a good enough bowler or batsman on most days in LoI's.

Agreed. Jadeja being an all rounder has been one of the biggest lies of Indian cricket, no one should ever forget the matches India lost beause of Dhoni's love for this so called all rounder

Matches - 151
Wickets - 174
Runs - 2035
Bat Avg - 30
SR - 84
Economy - 4.8

These are the stats of a bowling AR. Not certainly bits n pieces.

SM is just like a kedhar jadav in the squad back then. The quota player from mumbai, not from the deserving lot.
Least skilled compared to tendu and kambli.

Give Sanjay Manjrekar 1 Ashes Test with commentators like Llyod, Willis, Holding just to be sure he doesn't belong anywhere near cricket commentators. :viru

haha, good one.:yk

Seems to be very vicious person, always criticizing players and also made a fool of himself when he commented on Sania Mirza.

Manjrekar is probably the most boring commentator ever, even ahead of Arun Lal, who at least had sometime to talk about nature and birds.

Well, Majrekar had no such thoughts about being an elitist.
You should read Sanjay Manjrekar's autobiography. That will tell you what he thought of himself growing up.

So you expected him to make a confession in his book?

Lol.

I'm glad Jaddu spoke his mind. He has right to slap back same as Manju has right to mumble nonsense non-stop.

Our cricketer are way too policed. They need to be set free. It will be more exciting than our odi batting.

And why cant they criticize Manju?

They can, but for his commentary like people here do not for his cricket like jadeja tried to do. Also this isn't just about Manju, same **** happened to bhogle but he did not have the Mumbai lobby backing him so he lost his job. A commentator should be allowed to criticize, which doesn't seem the case in India. Everyone's a worldclass player without faults, that's why likes of Chappell and others don't commentate on our games.

True. I heard AB and Dhoni were involved in Harsha's sacking at that time.

Who cares if he played more matches or is more successful? That doesn't stop Stephen A Smith or Max Kellerman or Colin Cowherd from criticizing pro basketball players.

Stats don't tell whole story. He is biggest selfish batsman who will go for his runs when team needs to win with quick runs. He has done it multiple times in past. I don't even rate his batting. Bowling is avg against top side as well and in these conditions he is surely bits and pieces in odis.

Looks like Manjrekar's time has finally come.

He's always been a confusing commentator. On the one hand, he'd have the guts to say something that made sense but which others were too scared to say, but most of the other times he would nitpick on one point and go on and on about it till it drove you nuts. Also not a particularly great judge of talent.

Overall I could never reconcile to the obvious chip he carried vis-a-vis batsmen like Dravid. There was an obvious bitterness as he identified with Dravid's style of play. Sadly he could never fully grasp the idea that while Dravid was a grinder like him, but he was also far more naturally gifted and beautiful to watch. Some interviews of Dravid by Sanjay are pure cringe as Sanjay harps on and on about Dravid not being a talented but rather a hardworking batsman. It's to Dravid's generosity that he didn't verbally slap and mock him.

The amount of nonsense this guy utters, just because he has a mike is nauseating.

Yesterday, during the match, Virat played a cover drive. Sanga and Manju were on air.

They started showing the replays of that cover drive. Manju began by saying that when Sanga played the cover drive his back knee almost touched the ground. Sanga replied by saying that it was a natural pose for him. Then Sanga went onto describe how balanced Virat was while playing the shot.

He then said that any youngster looking to play the cover drive should look at how Virat played it.

Suddenly Manju jumps up saying, its not correct to give that advise to youngsters. Sanga didnt say much.

This is the kind of commentary Manju does. Then if someone retaliates, its only normal.

I hope his contract by STAR is revoked post world cup.

So true.

The gagging of commentators is cringe worthy.

There is no fun in watching their analysis. I simply tune out.

Sanju on the other hand, can get annoying real fast.

What Manju does is not analysis. He speaks rubbish.

Same as most of the current World Cup commentators.

They are robots - told what to say, when to say it how to say it and about who.

It's getting to the point where I am just turning off the commentary for certain matches.

During commentary, every third sentence uttered by Manjrekar is in negative tone. He’s a compulsive criticiser- thinks that makes him sound like an expert. Absolutely unbearable.

Phainty by Jadeja was well deserved.

This is from yesterday. This is not robotic. This is agenda.

Manju is anti anyone but Mumbai, except Tendulkar.

Havent seen anyone pushing agendas like this.

I am no fan of Michael Holding. But Holding had the magnamity to accept that he was wrong in his assesment of Bumrah.

Here is a man who finds nothing but criticism for arguably the best batsman in the world. I posted his another tweet. Just check it.

Tbh Pakistani commies are far better.

Everytime Manju comes, i switch to hindi commentary.

This.

Commentary is just a background noise now. There is no insight, interesting stories or bold predictions from any commentators. Just hyping up Indian players and making polite, positive comments in their praise. Everyone follows the same template and it is so boring. Manjrekar is among the worst.

But the one time he deviates form the template and actually calls out someone, everyone including the player looses their sh**. This reflects the society in our country in general. We have become this loud, pampered kid who can take no criticism (granted that Manjrekar's comment was an arbitrary one and is more of name calling than actual insight) and feels that he needs to fight anyone who has a different opinion. Virat Kohli is a poster child for this era where being brash and loud is celebrated as long as you do your job well. I dont want to go any further, but the same goes in our politics too (ahem, Modi), that Might is Right. Not a good time for introverts, calm, decent gentlemen and women.

So true.

So true.

My thoughts too.

Also, I have noticed that these commentators don't do their homework.

Don't even know basic stats.

Embarassingly uninformed for most part.

Seems like they just get up, get dressed and come to work and earn in crores.

Honestly I feel a lot of forum posters would do a WAYYY better job than them analyzing the game (they may have to develop their commentating skills tho).

Asian commies are a waste of time & energy. Mostly.

This is why I prefer watching the analysis by the Sky Sports team. They are class.

Too bad I don't get to watch them too often due to where I live.

We need more Bob Willis type of analysis.

Insightful and entertaining.

He will bash everyone equally. :D

Another comment from another game"Rohit Sharma is scoring 100s and Virat Kohli is scoring 60s and 70s"

Manjrekar is a third rate commentator. He was sacked by Star Sport once. But is back under mumbai lobby. But Bcci elections are in October and will see the no good Mumbai lobbyist out of the bcci.

This guy is an absolute clown. Bumble isn't commentating while this guy is... What a disgrace!

Still very shocked that Sky decided not to use Bumble as part of the World cup commentary panel.

Manjrekar should have analyzed his stats before posting his usual rubbish.

Jadeja last played an ODI Vs NZ way back in 2014.

:))) clear what he is doing here ,Kedhar his Maharashtra boiii

The real culprit is Eduljee. Wait till october. Eduljee will be out of bcci. Then we will see how long manju gets away with his rubbish.

Absolute embarrassment this guy

Makes me wanna mute the tv everytime he comes on

Still very shocked that Sky decided not to use Bumble as part of the World cup commentary panel.

Bumble was not chosen because he is very outspoken and likes to speak his mind even micheal holding was warned when he spoke against the umpires decisions against West Indies that’s why he’s quiet now and kept his job but bumble is a legend he doesn’t need these muppets to earn his bread and butter

What an id!ot lmao. Why does this guy still have a job?

Manjrekar has two triple centuries in ranjis which was a record . He thought of himself as a great at least in domestics. All of this gone with now jaddu being the only batsman with three triple hundreds. Manju thinks jaddu is undeserving for this record hence all grudging.

Lol this is too funny.

Actually I am surprised by the altercation between Jadeja and Manjrekar. I thought both had sold their souls to the BCCI.

Vaughn did not even tag Manjrekar. Manjrekar is overreacting.

Manjrekar is ****. He is getting the commie gigs because Mumbai lobby lady Eduljee is one of the bcci admins.

As soon as she is out, Manju will be out. Too many people in Bcci, starting from greats like Tendulkar to Ganguly to Dhoni to Kohli have been ****** off by him.

He is banking on Rohit to save his job.

Still very shocked that Sky decided not to use Bumble as part of the World cup commentary panel.

Yeah, it's really strange. He was a commentator for the last WC and they showed a clip of him commentating when England got battered by NZ last WC too during their coverage for the game this WC. Maybe they had a quota for commentators per country or something like that? Sounds absurd but I don't know how to explain it.

Also Vaughan is a weird guy. Always acting like a smug teenager on social media. He's worse than KP on it and that's saying something.

Did you see how he accepted the Indian army cap from Gavaskar? I am sure it would have gone pretty well with the jingoistic majority. He is obviously a poor commentator. As you said he is there because of his manoeuvring.

Nothing wrong in being called ‘bits and pieces cricketer’, they make a fortune these days.

Jadeja is neither a great batsman or bowler, so what should we call him?

Jadeja was ranked #1 Test bowler about a year ago, so if he is a bits and pieces player so are 99% of international players.

Poor Manjrekar, got trolled big time on Twitter yesterday following Jadeja´s very good spell:))! He was constantly complaining in the commentary box (and even on Twitter) about Jadeja´s selection, which wasn´t suited to the requirements of the pitch in his opinion. Good trolled big time! :vk2
