"I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea" : Ravindra Jadeja to Sanjay Manjrekar

One thing which I always liked about Manjrekar was his admiration for Pakistan cricket, and it was apparent during this World Cup too. He never misses out on mentioning some of Pakistan´s greats of the past, such as Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Inzamam etc.... So I like him for that.

However, his commentary is just too negative. He seems like a wrist-slitter all the way! Also, he has got a bit grumpy. He makes up his mind on something, expresses his mind and then spends the rest of the match defending his opinion. He behaves a little too much like a Mr.-Know-It-All.

Bumble was not chosen because he is very outspoken and likes to speak his mind even micheal holding was warned when he spoke against the umpires decisions against West Indies that’s why he’s quiet now and kept his job but bumble is a legend he doesn’t need these muppets to earn his bread and butter
Michael Holding is a bitter man ranting about BCCI 24/7. You offcourse will find him unbiased. Anyways, my fav are Mark Nicolas and Artherton.

I am surprised that two persons who have sold their souls to the BCCI could be having a public quarrel.

My impression was that once the BCCI buys you, you cannot have independent opinions. BCCI needs to take notice. #HailBCCI

Michael Vaughan really winding up Manjrekar on Twitter and Instagram:ma

Sir Jadeja to score a 100 today and take Manjreker to cleaners...

Bit of a signal from Jadeja when he reached 50.

I wonder who that was for :)

If Jadeja takes India through here, a public apology should be given by Manju:))

Manjrekar is ****. He is getting the commie gigs because Mumbai lobby lady Eduljee is one of the bcci admins.

As soon as she is out, Manju will be out. Too many people in Bcci, starting from greats like Tendulkar to Ganguly to Dhoni to Kohli have been ****** off by him.

He is banking on Rohit to save his job.

This is a stupid qs but isn’t the commentary team decided by ICC and broadcaster. Where did BCCI come from. Also I doubt they have the time or inclination to have raving discussions about commentary team

OMG. SM getting a lot of vulgar abuse on Twitter. Seems likes people don't like his Winky in that post.

The fans just need a reason to whinge after that defeat, it's perfectly understandable. Manjrekar is an easy target, shooting fish in a barrel.

What an inspirational response by Jadeja!

Mankrekar did not commentate at all during Jadeja's innings

And what is the need to put out a tweet just when your team loses? Clearly SM was hoping for Jadeja to fail.

TBF, not sure why Jadeja needed to do that sword celebration and the signal after scoring a 50 and the job was far from done?

Two Indians behaving very immature IMO

You can’t blame Jadeja, his response was in the heat of the moment, whereas Manjrekar is probably just sitting at his hotel room and tweeting rubbish.

I liked that reaction actually, followed by Rohit's response. He was all fired up, you need that energy to carry through.

Jadeja has a point. Even Pakistani players would object to inferior previous Pakistani players criticizing superior current Pakistani players

I think Sanjay is an ok commentator. His job is to commentate, analyse, criticise, speak his views etc. You can call it verbal diarrhoea or whatever but it’s the players who criticise commentators that to me that need to learn to take it. Commentators are doing their job and you might like them or dislike them but they should be free to express their opinions.

Sanjay took it like a champ and I liked how he described it. Sanjay was blaming Dhoni when Pandya was batting slowly and Nicholas got annoyed and said 'Pandya wasn't going anywhere when he was batting with Pant.'

STAR decides the commie team. STAR is also BCCI's broadcaster.

A fantastic innings from a lion-hearted cricketer. The way he has come along in the last 6 years speaks volumes of his character. In my view, he is the best Test spinner in the world at the moment and more than handy in Limited Overs because of his economical bowling and brilliance in the field - easily the best fielder in the world.

It is not 2012 anymore. Calling Jadeja a bits and pieces cricketer is simply insulting. He is much more than that.

I agree with you but nathan lyon says hi.

Agreed. Like today he applauded Jadeja display. Players these days are weak.

Look at pakistan tv, tanvir said the pakistani commentators or players will not talk negative about certain players

I agree with you but nathan lyon says hi.

Right up there among the current best but I would still place Ashwin over Jadeja and Lyon.

350 test wickets at an average of 25 is not a matter of joke.

Murali, Warne and Ashwin are the only spinners in the history of the game to have those numbers.

Sanjay Manjrekar's 'Rude' Jibe at Harsha Bhogle Over Pink Ball Visibility Has Angered Cricket Fans

Despite a complete dominance shown by Indian pacers in the second Test, who led India to an emphatic win in their first-ever pink ball Day/Night Test at Eden Gardens against Bangladesh, it was an ugly on-air conversation that became the top trending topic on Indian Twitter on Sunday.

Coming out to bowl on the third day in the much-talked-about "Pink Test", Bangladesh's lower-order faltered within one hour's play on Sunday. As a result, India registered their first pink-ball victory by an innings and 46 runs to complete a 2-0 series whitewash over visiting Bangladesh.

However, during the match, former cricketer and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar got in an awkward on-air spat with fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle when the latter insisted on studying cricketers' perspectives regarding the visibility of the pink ball.

Bhogle was referring to several incidents that took place during the course of the match wherein Bangladeshi batsmen were seen taking hard hits onto their helmets. The commentator simply suggested Manjrekar for a fair "post-mortem" after the match to study if the players were facing any such difficulty in sighting the pink ball.

"Well there is a post-mortem done on this game and there should be a post mortem on this game. Visibility of that ball will be a big factor against the big white sight-screen," Bhogle said.

"Don't think so. Because when you see the slip catchers the way they have taken catches, I don't think visibility is an issue at all. The texture of the ball is the issue," responded Manjrekar.

Bhogle, however, was adamant about learning the player's POV, who were out there in the middle and actually dealing with the pink ball.

"You need to ask perhaps, for us, those who have played the game, we have a fair idea of what’s happening out there,” Manjrekar responded to Bhogle implying that he had a fair idea as he had "played the game".

Manjrekar further added that having played 10-15 years of first-class cricket, he could perhaps say that with authority.

To which Bhogle simply responded by saying, “having played cricket should never be a limitation or a ceiling to learning.”

Manjrekar taking a "dig" at Bhogle for not having played cricket and dismissing his suggestion did not sit well with cricket fans in India.

Their ugly spat and clear disagreement was shared on Twitter which soon went viral.

In fact, on a day when Ishant Sharma was awarded both Man of the Match and Man of the Series for his spectacular contribution with the ball, #Harsha became the top trend on Twitter.

Fans had a World Cup déjà vu of sorts and they reduced Manjrekar's unwelcomed jibe to "bits and pieces". Mincing no words, many called out on Manjrekar's apparent arrogance on microblogging site.

To be honest I’m always baffled by Harsha Bhogle’s understanding of the game, or lack of it. Sure he never played at a competitive level but he has been commentating on it for over two decades and must have been a keen fan before that too.

But he rarely adds anything in terms of analysis of the game or any keen insights into what is going on. Like you could listen to him for an hour and have no New appreciation or understand of a match or the intricacies of the game. It’s really baffling as to how little value add a person can have despite being involved for so long.

I know he usually isn’t on as an expert so the expectation shouldn’t be high but often he does involve himself with his own opinion such as seems to be the case in this instance so we can definitely call him out for that.

Manjerakar is a classless human being who loves attracting attention with cheap controversies. Not to mention he considers himself a well accomplished ex cricketer who in reality was a hopeless player who somehow managed to have a couple of decent Test series.

It’s a bloody mood spoiler the moment he starts blabbering his nonsense during a cricket match. The only commentator/analyst who annoyed me worse than him was Siddhu.

I don’t mind whenever poor man’s Tom Friedman gets dunked: even if he has the right on his side

Bhogle is earnest and represents us

Manjrekar was a useless cricketer . Still remember an odi match when the he got out and commentators said now india has chance to win !

I might be the odd one out, but i enjoy bhogle and manjrekar"s commentary.
To me i grew up watching shastri and manjrekar play for india and then turn to commentary.
So i will always associate the voice of indian cricket with bhogle, manjrekar and shastri. That shivramakrishna bloke bores the heck out of me though and
I hate ganguly as a commentator, does nothing but praises the indian cricketers.

I am also a fan of ramiz raja - the voice of pakistan cricket! Seriously wasim needs to go back to coaching or be a sports newscaster, where he can read out the scorecards.

Sanjay Manjrekar once again fired shots against CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja labelling him as someone, who can only perform against medium pacers. Last time around, the former India International and now commentator called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He was later on trolled on social media for his remarks. In Chennai’s match against KKR, the left-handed batsman scored 22 off just 8 deliveries which helped the MS Dhoni-led side earn a hard fought 2-wicket victory over the 2 time champions.

Ravindra Jadeja is in good form in the ongoing 2021 IPL season, scoring at an average of 59.66 after 11 matches and also picked up 8 wickets in the process as CSK sit at the top of the table with 18 points and also the only team who has qualified for the Play-Offs so far.

Despite his performances Sanjay Manjrekar, is not really impressed with Jadeja’s batting.

“I am still not convinced about Jadeja’s batting, especially the role CSK has given him. If he gets the same role in every match, will he be able to continue with his performances against the quality pace bowlers or not? Because so far, he has pounced on bowlers like Prasidh Krishna and Harshal Patel. It remains to be seen whether he will be as attacking as well against the quick pacers who try to attack him,” Manjrekar told ESPNCricinfo.

Jadeja took Prasidh Krishna for a ride in Match 38, where he smashed 22 runs in the penultimate over, shifting the momentum from KKR to CSK in split seconds. In the India-leg of the tournament five months back, Jadeja also smashed the current purple cap leader, Harshal Patel, 37 runs in a single over

What is Manjrekar's opinion about Hardik Pandya? Can he label him as someone who only performs well against spinners? There is not a bigger bits and pieces player than Pandya at the moment in India. Manjrekar won't talk about it though because Pandya is also a Mumbaikar. :inti

Apparently Manjrekar find it difficult to forget and move on. I find him very very negative and its such a huge turnoff in a sense really

Team India lacked a wicket-taker in the league stage game of the T20 Wrld Cup against Pakistan as none of the bowlers could manage to take a wicket. Riding on half-centuries from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan chased down the target of 152 to kick off the tournament with a win.

While India batsmen couldn't post a big total, the bowlers also failed to deliver the results. The Indian bowlers will hope to return to form against New Zealand. Ahead of the fixture, noted commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has opined that India need wicket-taking spinners in the playing XI.

Writing for Hindustan Times, Manjrekar has opined that both R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are not wicket-takers and are more focused on economy rate. Ashwin stayed on the bench in the opening fixture. Jadeja went for 28 runs in his 4 overs.

“Ashwin, like Jadeja, is not a wicket-taker. Both are more focused on the economy than wickets. I believe in T20s, the spinners’ job is to get wickets and be the game-changer in the middle,” Manjrekar wrote in Hindustan Times.

“The big concern for me is India’s bowling. I know there is merit in the thought that you must back your players after their failures, especially in T20s, but this is easier to do when you are playing a long season of the IPL and not when a couple of defeats mean all chances of winning the World Cup are down the drain."

Despite struggling against Pakistan, Varun Chakravarthy is likely to keep his place. His mystery factor keeps him ahead of other spinners in the race. Rahul Chahar might also remain on the bench.

Taling of other spots, India aren't expected to make any changes to the playing XI. Hardik Pandya has started bowling in the nets and could make his comeback to bowling if fit. The India-New Zealand match will be played on October 31 in Dubai. The losing side of the fixture will move closer to being eliminated from the tournament.

Three years ago, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and renowned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar had an infamous and ugly social media spat. During the 2019 World Cup, taking exception to Manjrekar's 'bits and pieces cricketer' remark on air, Jadeja let himself loose and came down heavily on the former India batter through a tweet. And even though things got better over the years, with the two exchanging certain harmless banters on social media Jadeja and Manjrekar never came face-to-face.

That is, until now. Shortly after India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2022 match at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, Manjrekar, part of the broadcasting panel was assigned the task of interviewing Jadeja, who scored a crucial 35 off 29 balls and had a role to play in India's win. As everyone imagined how the interaction was going to be, Manjrekar decided to break the ice by lightening up the mood. Manjrekar's first question had nothing to do about the match as he in fact, asked Jadeja whether he has no issues getting interviewed by him.

"Well, I've got Ravindra Jadeja here with me. First question 'You're ok to talk to me, right, Jaddu?', to which the India all-rounder replied, 'Yeah, absolutely. I don't have any problem,' with a smile. It was a wonderful moment between the two, enough to prove that Jadeja and Manjrekar have buried the hatchet and put dirt over the incident that happened in 2019 in England.

What is Manjrekar's opinion about Hardik Pandya? Can he label him as someone who only performs well against spinners? There is not a bigger bits and pieces player than Pandya at the moment in India. Manjrekar won't talk about it though because Pandya is also a Mumbaikar. :inti

Hahaha:)))

Pandya and bits and pieces?

Pandya is a Gujrati. His Wikipedia profile says so.
