"I haven't heard anything about it (captaincy rumours) nor have I spoken to anyone" : Shan Masood

Shan Masood at a media talk today:

"We have 20-21 players at this camp. This is the first time that we've had a camp like this consisting of the cream of the Pakistani players ahead of the start of the season. We have quite a hectic schedule and the domestic schedule will also come, which has an increase in number of FC matches alongside OD and T20 tournaments. So it's a good step by the board to work on physical fitness and skill work. We will try to ensure that we're all in good shape for the start of the season and perform well in domestic cricket"

(Captaincy rumours) "This is limited to media speculation, I haven't heard anything about it nor have I spoken to anyone. I am available for Pakistan in any capacity but my first priority is as a player. Since there has been nothing official yet, I will not comment on this. At this moment, I am focused on the Pakistan team as a contracted player and my job is to perform as well as I can for Pakistan"

"I have played 15 Tests in 6 years, any player who plays 2.5 Tests a year can't really be judged to have been given a long chance. 6 years is a long time, in other countries players play 40-50 Tests. When you play on and off, it's not easy to perform. I request people to not evaluate players until he's had a proper chance, when a player has played 30-40 Tests and has this level of output then of course we can talk about that"

"When you go to play, you don't think about getting hurt but these incidents have happened as with Phil Hughes. This has led to some changes in the cricket world, if you see bowlers' responses when batsmen are hit by the ball. ICC has changed some protocols and standards and have introduced concussion substitutes so this is a good thing. Medical departments are getting involved going forward which is the right thing. Any protective gear which is made mandatory will have to be worn by the batsmen, safe comes first and we'll keep playing. There's no fear as such but we will fulfil the requirements"

"Misbah bhai when he came was also a late bloomer so every player has their own trajectory. If one player is doing well at 20, it's not necessary for another player to do the same. Some things you learn as a cricketer. As an international cricketer, it's not an easy thing, if you watch the Ashes. It takes time. My wish is that any cricketer should be given a long and fair chance, after which you should evaluate and criticise"

"Process of selection is not in my control. We have to respect decisions of the board"

"Our loss has been that we haven't been able to play in home conditions. Our home series are in UAE. Other countries' players generally have better home records than away ones. So this is something that has been costly for us. PCB has worked hard on bringing cricket back to Pakistan. Hopefully the ODI and T20I series against SL go well and I am hopeful that SL will come to Pakistan for the Test series"

"I would've been more satisfied if I had played my 15 Test matches in 1-2 years. That would give me an idea that my performances aren't as good as they should be. The future is not in my hands, but I am hopeful of getting consistent chances. At the end of the day, 1 chance or 10 chances, players have to perform and selection is not in our control so we have to try to grab our chances when they come"

Always talks well and has a good cricketing brain as well however, its high time he starts to create impact with the bat as well. Was pretty impressive in SA series and needs to continue the momentum and produce some good knocks.

In terms of communication, he is HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE anybody else in the team and with him talking you are assured that there are no 'shameful' or 'embarassing' comments that will make Pakistan, PCB, or even the fans look bad in front of the world.

Sarfaraz on the other hand is an utter embarrassment in terms of his words & overall conduct. Few great examples:
1) The racism episode in SA in 2019

2) Yawning vs India in CWC 2019

3) "It is possible India is scared of playing us" - http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...-are-afraid-of-playing-us-quot-Sarfaraz-Ahmed

4) “I like the typical Karachiwallee Biryani and I also like Beef Korma with sheermal bread. Biryani can be of any type, but the meat in it has to be good and [it] should have good masala in it." -

Does this sound like a cricketer? An athlete? Heck, an International Captain??? (Not that his batting or keeping is breaking records after records that we can ignore these comments)

Shaan on the other hand definately needs to perform in the upcoming series vs SL and BD to make any kind of claims for the captaincy.

Captaincy Rumors ?? He doesn't even deserve to be in the team.

Shaan Masood: Good English, Good Communication & smart cricketing brain (but absolute rubbish non-performer). Seems like a great candidate for Commentary box. We need good Commentators.

The only opener did well in South Africa and lets drop him

Some Pakistani fans are clueless :))

And yet those who advocate making him team captain are the Pakistan Einstein. This lad has done NOTHING to deserve captaincy in any way shape or form. A half century here or there against SA and suddenly he's the second coming of Brian Lara? Get a grip.

Why are Pakistani people so impressed with someone who can speak English? Are you that ashamed of your own heritage that you are willing to make anyone captain if they won't 'embarass' you when they talk? It smacks of a deep rooted inferiority complex.

So what if Sarfraz can't speak English properly? You know what - I don't give a damn because Urdu is our first language and I am PROUD of it. Sarfraz is not employed to speak English - he is employed to play cricket. I don't care what the 'gore' think when Sarfraz speaks - my concern is the performance of the Pakistani cricket team, not impressing English speaking people.

Whatever you think of Sarfraz and Shan, for God's sake judge them on their cricket.

This guy can be good captain due to his meritocracy. He talk sense unlike others and also can speak English which is plus point, best of luck to him

Drop the guy who actually did well in the last test series. :)))

Don't think he will be made captain now. Looks like we are stuck with best captain since IK. His fan boys can't run behind blaming Mickey and Inzi now.
