Moeen Ali at a press conference:

"I haven't been in Pakistan for maybe 15 years. I used to come every year to play with my dad at an academy and I felt the time was right to come again. Mushy bhai and Andy were very keen for me to come and I felt why not, it's the land where my mother was born so it means a lot to me. It's an amazing place to come and play in. The fact that the whole PSL is in Pakistan is a huge achievement and it's great to be part of it.

"PSL is a tournament people are talking about all over the world. To have it in Pakistan means a lot more for the players. We all want cricket back in Pakistan, we wants Tests, ODIs, everything in Pakistan now. We've had enough of playing in Dubai against Pakistan, where they also have a great record. But it's a huge achievement for the country and the game and hopefully we can keep coming in future insha'Allah.

"The crowd just wants good cricket to be played, it didn't feel like an away game. When you have Shahid Afridi in your team, the crowd doesn't care who anybody else is. It's amazing to be here, playing in any ground, it's a dream for not just us but also Pakistani players, to play in front of their home crowd.

"The quality is very high. I've watched PSL before. It's always highly talked about with the best bowlers in the world in T20 cricket. The talent in Pakistan has always been there and PSL will always be good for Pakistan. For us to come and play here, it's a big thing and to have a win under our belts in a tough game is great. Watching the other games, the standard is very high.

"I hope the England team will tour Pakistan insha'Allah. I'm sure it's something they're talking about and I know other countries are also talking about coming. There's close to 10 players from England and it shows that guys are keen to come and play here. The standard is high. If we do come back with the national team, we'll have the experience of playing in Pakistan.

"My grandmother was born in Pakistan as was my mum. I'm proud of that, but obviously I was born in England. I'm hoping to go insha'Allah to Azad Kashmir where my mother was born. It's a big thing for me, for my family who are also here and I can't wait insha'Allah."

Wasn’t his grandmother white?
Betty Cox was her name i think.
Or was that his other grandmother?

Lovely comments from Moeen.

What a great coup for the PSL to have him playing in the tournament.

Not sure IPL guys will like reference to 'Azad Kashmir'in there but then Moeen has always been known to say things as they are.

Isn't Mo.een from Mirpur?
Another one on board in the last year adding to erdogan and the un in recognition and mentioning kashmir

Moeen is such a gem of a person.

I really like how he comes up for the right and speaks against the wrong.

A role model.

His other grandmother. Actually 3 of his 4 grandparents are from Azad Kashmir. Both of his mother's parents and his dad's dad too.
