"The energy is good in me, from the first game until today the ball has been coming on nicely on the bat for me and I was trying to make sure I can play a longer innings"

1 good series in Australia.snd he's toured as the next legend. I remember in around 2013-14 he looks absolutely hopeless. Recall him failing in 2014 Asia cup and getting dropped for Hafeez as opener lmao. He was never that good.

Even that Australian series that his fans cannot forget was nothing special. All he did was score three half-centuries on extremely flat pitches where Australia piled up 360+ and Warner played stick cricket. He kept throwing his wicket away every innings and had zero impact on the outcome of the matches.

He has been a consistent failure throughout his international career. Always was and always will be a poor cricketer.
 
Good to see him back in the runs. Hopefully he can have a strong finish to the PSL
 
He needed some runs.

The innings brings him back in the frame for the T20 World Cup.
 
Looks determined Sharjeel. It’s all in the best interest in our cricket. The way Babar is backing him don’t think will take long before he is back if he score another 100 runs in this PSL.
 
Wait so he calls an innings where he got dropped twice as a good innings?
 
His first 30 runs looked awful, but really improved as the innings went along, was hitting sixes effortlessly later on. Hopefully this gives him more confidence for the rest of the tournament

Pak need Sharjeel at the top of the order at T20 WC.. him and Babar seem to be developing some chemistry as well

Still more impactful and a better player then Imam.
 
Not his fault catches were dropped. Have to say what a fine innings by him. Made me proud to see two Pakistani batsmen finishing the game with 10 wickets in hand.

I didn't watch the match, you're right. But a good score is a good score, can't help if catches are dropped. Let's just hope he builds on this. He needs to perform in all of the remaining games to have a chance of selection
 
Moaners talking about dropped catches , how often likes of Warner, Finch , Rohit are dropped. Pak gave Tendulkar 5 chances in the world cup. Of course he is not in their league but what you want to do hang him just cause he gave two chances, judging two bad shots but not admiring 10 good ones. Typical negative mentality posters
 
I don't think he is that bad a player. I just don't want another convicted fixer representing Pakistan.

Sharjeel and Amir are showing that you can fix and still play for Pakistan again. Then we can complain about fixing. If players can make money and cheat their country, then still play for Pakistan you shouldn't be shocked when they are fixing.

PCB really need to set a precedent when it comes to fixers. 1 strike and you won't play for Pakistan again. Sick of being the laughing stock and humiliated in front of the cricketing world.

Both players have served their designated punishments. You might have a different view on the rehabilitation of criminals and perhaps you feel certain misdemeanours don't deserve a second chance. However, the law is the law and the law is what the PCB have followed. So i don't think you have any leg to stand on with this viewpoint.
 
Great to see him back to his best. Hit 5 sixes, 3 of which were pull shots - his strongest scoring option.

Some will hate him for their biases, but this player when in form is the best pakistan bat in the country.

Wish he keeps scoring runs and makes a comeback to the Pakistani team
 
He needs to tighten his game.His defence is not very good.He plays too many loose shots.If he can stay at the wicket for until the 10th over he can do enough damage.The later batsmen can then set a good target without being under too much pressure.

If truth be told, it was a lucky innings due to the dropped catches but you still got to make the most of it. However, Sharjeel is not the only player to have benefitted from the atrocious fielding in the PSL.

The way some players are getting lucky and going on to make big scores gives a little insight as to why some players can look like world beaters in the domestics and leagues but get found out quickly on the international stage.

But some positive is that Sharjeel was a proven performer when he had his extended run with the Pakistan team and innings like this should hopefully give him the confidence and momentum to keep improving and getting back to his best.

It would be very good for Pakistan to have a fit and firing basher like Sharjeel at the top of the innings.

Exactly , in fact a lot of time someone scores 100 or 50 runs they do get some sort of luck that comes their way but doesn't mean they don't deserve it, they make most of that missed chance , like rohit did Agaisnt pak in 2019 world their was missed run out chance by Fakhar if he only threw it at the keepers end rohit would have been gone for 30 something runs instead he ended up getting a massive 100 and he played good shots to get there but he took advantage of the luck nothing wrong with that same did sharjeel today

I wouldn’t. I would open with Babar and Haider, and if Haider fails, move on to the next guy.

Sohail Akhtar will never succeed in international cricket and Sharjeel has already been tested (and failed) at the top level.

People are kidding themselves if they think that Sharjeel, at the age of 31, will fare any differently in his third stint in international cricket.

Getting banned in 2017 was the best thing to happen to his reputation and career. Otherwise, he would have been done and dusted by now.

Imagine if Fakhar was banned in 2018. Our excitable fans would have been hell-bent that we were robbed of the next Saeed Anwar.

Players like Sharjeel, Fakhar etc. with awful technique and poor game intelligence do not survive for long in international cricket.

Yesterday was another example why he will never be good enough. After giving catching practice to Dunk behind the stumps when he lashed at a wide delivery with zero footwork, he ended up hitting two boundaries.

Babar told him to calm down because they already had 10 for the over, but the very next ball, he ended up giving catching practice to deep square leg.

A smart batsman would have tapped it for a single. We are not talking about a young player here - if Haider Ali were to do this, we could let it go, but we are talking about a 31 year old who made his international debut 7 years ago.

You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think the likes of Sharjeel and Sohail can improve Pakistan’s standing in international cricket. For that to happen, Pakistan needs two more batsmen like Babar and two more bowlers like Shaheen.

As far as Imam is concerned, I would only have him in my T20 team in extreme situations. If I have Babar or Malik I wouldn’t pick him. However, if my team is full of sloggers with no one to hold the innings together, I wouldn’t mind him.
 
If they want to take
Sharjeel to Australia then Misbah and PCB mafia should be stopped giving chances to Imams and Shans.

I have a fear they will keep denying Sharjeel matches and in the last moment select him for Australia T20 keeping Imam in the squad. These mafia tactics need to be curtailed by PCB if they are serious in countering corruption in PCB. Similarly Haider will also be destroyed given his form. Fakhar Zaman, Sharjeel and Haider all 3 of these people need to be in the team BUT MISBAH is the COACH AND CHIEF SELECTOR so we already have lost the WT20 with Malik and Hafeez playing.

Mate what planet are you on when it comes to understanding this game? Where has this guy opened and shown any potential as an opener? You would rather he play in a position unfamiliar to him, see him fail and lose his confidence. And thats that?

Haider is an opener and has opened throughout his junior career. Do some research before putting such posts.

He has opened the batting through out his career at junior level as well as FC and performed very well and you are suggesting to change his position on the basis of 1/2 innings.

Maybe you shouldn’t stop reading after XYZ. You might learn something.

Haider is an opener and he has opened throughout his career until the PSL.

He opens for Northern in FC and he has opened for Pakistan at all junior levels including the U-19.

He impressed at those platforms and that is why he is now in PSL, where he is playing an unfamiliar position (and thriving) because Zalmi cannot accommodate him in the opening position because of Kamran, Banton and Imam.

He is not a number 3/4 batsman and the fact that he is doing well in PSL, instead of making excuses over his unnatural position/role, should be considered a positive.

Fact is, he is one of the few batsmen in the Pakistan line up who can deal with aggressive short pitched bowling. All the other guys being mentioned as alternatives are scoring their runs off spinners and trundlers bowling full deliveries.

It was actually good inning I thoroughly enjoyed it, so what he gave couple of chances likes of Hales, Munro, and many others gave chances many times. Bottom line is Sharjeel is Munro type batsmen who we need for T20s amongst mostly accumulator batsmen.

His A game was not on but still managed to score big. Previously he would have gotten frustrated when his A game is not on and would have gotten out so now it is an improvement. It also helped that his batting partner was not a dud.
 
I reckon he's still a far better punt than Kami "give me three chances (but I'll drop even more)" Akmal for a WC spot.
 
Still needs to get fitter.

I know he's been like this before, but still some way to go before he's international level fitness.

My views on Sharjeel are to do with how fixers should be dealt with not the justice system in the world so don't get why you are bringing up other criminals.

I don't have an issue with Sharjeel playing domestic cricket but I don't want to see him play for Pakistan again. Enough of this getting away with fixing nonsense. The punishment should be no more international cricket for players who fix.

In a country where there is a shortage of bashers Sharjeel is one of the few options. Pakistan just cannot ignore Sharjeel. Got to try him and Haider in a few T20's before considering them for WC2020.

His fitness is pathetic but he is a good puller cutter so will be very useful in Australia. Pak already has too many accumulators can't afford more. Sharjeel will be crucial in a tourney where 180+ will be the norm.

Sharjeel is no great batsman by any means, he definitely plays fast and loose which means he will always risk losing his wicket cheaply. But this is T20 where big hitters win games, not safety first merchants.

Most importantly of all, Sharjeel can cream the fastest bowlers who pitch at his ribs, and Babar is the only other Pakistani who can do this. Hafeez used to be able to but his reflexes aren't what they were.

That is why those who cheerlead other teams don't want Sharjeel in the Pakistan team. They fear he can damage their favourite teams.
 
Sharjeel has proved me wrong, and I'm happy with that.

Yes, I was not expecting a good performance from him , considering his poor physical shape, but he can still play a match winning knock on his day. He does not have much competition, him and Babar make a good opening pair.

The 14 ball inning won KK the match, along with the last inning termed "fluke" by you. What else you want from your hard hitting opener who is required to play risky shots?
Of course he is no Warner or Rohit and never will be, but if Pandaya,the batsman, is good enough for you, then why not Sharjeel for T20 international, fitness apart?

Ramiz said he was concerned that the selectors are not able to find replacements for tainted players.

If former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has his way, he will have the country's tainted cricketers "open grocery stores".

Ramiz hit out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for reintegrating players such as Mohammad Amir, who has served prison time and a long ban from the game for involvement in spot-fixing, into the national team setup.

"You ask me I would say these tainted cricketers should open their grocery shops," he said.

The former opener felt allowing tainted players back into the sport has damaged Pakistan cricket.

"I have no doubt that giving concession to big names also damaged Pakistan cricket," he said, referring to Amir.

Ramiz said he was concerned that the selectors are not able to find replacements for tainted players.

"There is once again talks of redrafting Sharjeel Khan into the team which is not right and can damage Pakistan cricket," he said.

Ramiz felt that Pakistan cricket has already suffered enough because of the board's indecisive policy on players who are found guilty of corruption.

He praised batsman Babar Azam and said he is a world-class player but needs a conducive atmosphere to express himself.

"There is no doubt about Babar Azam's ability, he is a world-class player," said Ramiz.

"When people ask me about the comparison between Babar Azam with the likes of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, I would say he can do even better than Kohli but he needs a conducive atmosphere and the freedom to express himself more as a player and as captain."

He also advised Pakistan's head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq to bank on youngsters in the T20 format.

"I have nothing personal against Mohammad Hafeez or Shoaib Malik who are senior players and have served the country for a long time. But I think now the selectors need to think about replacing them with youngsters and groom them properly."

Ramiz said that T20 is a format for youngsters and Pakistani selectors have been insisting on picking the tried-and-tested seniors in recent times.

Hes obviously very talented and just had bad advice from the likes of Latif and Jamshed

Jamshed is now in prison and was probably the ringleader
Not sure why a promising young career should have to sit out especially when he's just getting started in international cricket
Phenomenal talent and I I really hope he gets to show the world his talent and ability again

The former cricketer said that he has seen Khan working really hard on his fitness during the PSL. “I have visuals of him doing pushups and runups. We worked hard on his fitness during the PSL,” he said.

Moreover, Jones highlighted that most of the power-hitters around the world are muscled up but their energy on the field is immense. “Mostly power-hitters in the world are muscled up. Why would you select the likes of Haider and Sharjeel when you have Kamraan Akmal waiting in the wings.

Who cares about performance when his fans rave about kami’s ‘timing’ and how ‘dynamic’ he is, and that ‘there are no replacements.

Well forget Haider, [MENTION=134608]Hawkeye[/MENTION] has said numerous times he would select Kami over even Babar (Yes our best batsman Babar) as the opener for the t20 World Cup.
