'I only commentate on cricket': Michael Holding on not doing commentary in IPL

I used to like Holding but now he is constantly playing the race card to stay relevant. He keeps degrading younger generations of bowlers after him. Not a happy person deep down.

There is no concrete evidence that he has never been offered an IPL commentary stint.

The burden of proof in this case lies on him. I'm sure if he was offered a contract and rejected it, he would be yapping on about it non-stop but we haven't heard anything about it so far.

See post 72.

I'll explain if you don't understand it.

Why can't Holding enjoy that? What happened? Did the series stop due to World War 3? Or did someone breach the bio bubble? Or are they going to play the remaining match in UAE in September? :inti

Breach of bio bubble can happen anywhere. Just now 7 English players were caught being Covid positive and a new squad will be announced to play against Pakistan. Unfortunate for Pakistan that they will face Eng B team now.

Happy Birthday to Michael Holding

"I don't watch Twenty20. It is dumbing-down cricket. They should find another name for it," - Michael Holding

He has made it clear he doesn't seem to take T20 seriously.

Happy birthday to Michael.

He has more than earned the right to hold a principled and practiced opinion over the years, but I do fear that he will be left with slim pickings for commentary work if the current trajectories within the game continue. (Though I’m sure he doesn’t care)

With a couple of decades, T20s have evolved from a light entertainment curio into a globally important and financially critical part of the sport. The 20 over format continuing to drive revenue is hugely important to all forms of cricket having any chance of a lengthy and prosperous future.
