Former Pakistan cricket captain Javed Miandad has demanded the execution of cricketers and bookies involved in fixing, saying that he quit coaching in 1999 due to indications of match-fixing in the team.
Talking to media, former great batsman Javed Miandad said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should make a law and execute the players involved in fixing and execute the players as well as the bookies.
He said that a law should be made so that no cricketer has the courage to do fixing. Until such people are punished, the players will continue to do spot-fixing and match-fixing.
Javed Miandad said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has played cricket so the Prime Minister should take strict action because guilty cricketers in Pakistan escape due to weak laws.
The former captain said that Saleem Malik, Atta-ur-Rehman and other players sold the country for some money.
He said that the players involved in fixing have hurt the feelings of his family and fans with the country. Former cricketer Ata-ur-Rehman is crying today saying that he was trapped.
He said that Atta-ur-Rehman was lured into corruption at that time and now he regrets it.
The former batsman, who served as national team coach after retiring from cricket, said: "I quit coaching in 1999 because I knew there was a fixing going on."
He said that Justice Qayyum told the commission everything related to fixing but the players escaped. The cricketers who were asked by the Justice Qayyum Commission to stay away from the PCB are still attached to the cricket board.
It may be recalled that Javed Miandad was coaching the Pakistan team that played the World Cup in 1999 under the leadership of Wasim Akram in which the national team reached the final.
The national team made it to the finals in the 1999 World Cup, but lost dramatically to Australia in the final, Javed Miandad resigned as coach during the World Cup.
