"I respect Virat Kohli, but I don’t fear him" : Naseem Shah

Stupid statement, Kohli would probably eat Naseem Alive. But to be fair, if he was asked that question, what was he supposed to say? That he is very fearful of Kohli?

''Cricket is not a contact sport so no need to be fearful. I look forward to challenging myself against the top batsmen including Kohli''

That'd cover all the bases. Add a touch of humor, show that he's confident, and also not obsessing over Kohli.

Reminds me of WWE. Shawn Michaels said to Undertaker before Wrestlemania 24 or 25th it was not sure.

" I respect Undertaker but I am not afraid of him."

:))

Naseem Shah is next Mohammad Sami

Not worth writing him off based of a t20 tournament. T20 bowling is already very hit and miss. his best form of the game is the red ball game. Even then, he's still below 20, nowhere near his prime. He definitely has potential. Give him time to develop.

Its ridiculous how people bash this 19-20 yr old kid whose skill set is very good for his age its not his fault the stupid coach threw him to the ring when he was still couple of years away from being ready.

I still hope better sense prevails and he is played just FC and A cricket for two years atleast maybe an odi here and there I believe he is a special talent but has been exposed too soon to test cricket which is the hardest format and with continuous mishandling we might lose him for good..

Pakistanis are destroying their own players before the opposition write them off.

especially seeing how both teams batted on this pitch, 1-40 isn't even a terrible performance.

Naseem = next Mohammad Talha
Hasnain = next Mohammad Sami
Rauf = next Wahab Riaz

Mr know-it-all, have you ever seen wahab swing the new ball away?
Because Rauf can, and with very good effect.
This is why Mohammad Wasim instructed Shadab to give him the new ball yesterday.

https://youtu.be/VdKWKuWE2tA

Watch the first part of the video. Has Wahab ever bowled like this with the new ball?

Stick to discussing batting because you know nothing about bowling.

Naseem Shah is next Mohammad Sami

Mohammad sami was a very talented bowler and had all the tools to be a legend; yes a legend, except for strength of character.
He is the biggest bowling mental midget that I have ever seen.

A guy like Hasnain would do very well to achieve the skillset of Sami.
Naseem on the other hand, while also having the necessary tools, is 10 times mentally stronger than Sami can ever be.
So that comparison of yours is just ignorant and uneducated.

Are we destroying Naseem Shah by playing him in T20s? Seems to be getting in the neck in the National T20 Cup.

Should have been rested for the QeA Trophy.

He needs to play cricket too. Has hardly played any.
Today, he has just been let down by poor captaincy. Hasn't been used well. Just given one over up front when he was getting good shape.

Here come the usual troupe of excuses because the pet player is not performing:

1. Batting too high in the order / Bowling too early.
2. Batting too low in the order / Was given the ball too late.
3. Coach doesn't know how to train him / Captain doesn't let him set his own fields.
4. Has bad batting partners / Has bad bowling partners.
5. Playing too many games in a row / Not playing any games at all.

Dude, you dont know anything about me or my posting history, so spare me this condescension.

The excuses in question don't pertain to your posting history of all of 288 posts, but made by various folks over the years on batsmen and bowlers alike - from Umar Akmal to Nasir Jamshed to Junaid Khan to Naseem Shah and everyone in between. They're just a way to delay the inevitable tears.

What about just being unlucky? I remember that a very insightful poster had calculated Amir's "real" bowling average after adjusting for the missed edges and dropped catches.

Then you dont need to mention those examples by quoting me, because i didnt comment about them.

As far as Naseem is concerned, my stance on him is clear. He is raw and extremely talented, but has technical issues which need to be rectified if he has to be effective. I have outlined them several times before.
A young guy like him obviously wouldn't know about these things which only a qualified coach can identify. This is where I am extremely gutted at Waqar's appointment because it is a well established fact now that he has been a multiple time failure in this role.
I identified those issues on the England tour and they still persist after watching him today.

Mr. Smarty Pants, mate, you always try to sound really clever by writing down "technical analysis", but all it really is a bunch of empty words with the occasional valid point. You are completely overrating Naseem Shah. He can certainly be a decent bowler in the future, but he's way too raw and has 0 bowling IQ.

LMAO, this is facts. All these people hyping up players and then making excuses to defend then after a failure. Glad you exposed the brutal truth.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. The only correct thing in your post is that Mohammad Sami was very talented.

Actually I’ll say I made a lazy comparison. Sami at 20 was far more skilled than Naseem is at this age (which is above 20 in real life)

The only novel thing about Naseem is his official age otherwise you can find dime a dozen bowlers in their 20s at a similar stage of development

Naseem Shah not in the CP side today and not even in the squad today - hope all ok

No one should fear present Virat Kohli who is batting like a tailender

Naseem is unfit and not included in CPvNOR game

Naseem has a groin strain which is why he is being rested in the National T20 Cup

He last played a red ball game in last week of August, then 2 T20s in late sept - early October.

Is now part of the Pakistan squad for New Zealand.

One hopes that PCB are clear about his fitness issues.

Well....everybody is busy talking about Naseem Shah so I think its right time to bump this tread as well.......:smith

This stands

“Virat Kohli will be Naseem Shah’s bunny”

- Faisal Iqbal, June 2020

Kohli doesn't even know who he is tbh.

Naseem Shah:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 55.000%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/e979pb" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

If he wasn't coached about what to say, wow. There is hope then.

If so many people were hyping him up earlier, there must be something there. This clip shows he's mentally fine and that's more than half the battle. Good luck to him.

The issue with Naseem is not really him, as far as non-Pak fans are concerned. It's his zealous fans who use him to laugh at superior cricket teams :rabada2

His attitude is right, needs to work and will return strong.

Kid, Kohli doesn’t even know of your existence.

All the best to him but I didn’t see anything elite in him to say he will be world class. Obviously he can be improved a lot so good luck!

Well Kohli might get to know Naseem now since Naseem’s name will figure in the list of the worst ever bowling performances ever.

Ok i see the hype now.. Kohli was Andersen’s bunny but worked so hard not to be one next time, hopefully Kohli sees this before playing Naseem

There's always one common theme when you hear these guys talk after yet another phainty. "I am learning, we are learning...blah blah"

Should have stayed in school if he wants to learn.

I also think Kohli is not a batsman to fear with. He is consistent, hardworking , classy and has been a run machine even though off late his standards have dropped. While you will be worried if he is there batting as he can pile up runs, chase down targets ( atleast till recent past if not in last 18 months) but he is not going to murder your bowling. He do have few innings where he hit the bowlers at will like that chase against Sri Lanka and against Pakistan but I am not sure he will fall in that bracket where bowlers would be afraid to bowl him. That can apply to people like De Villiers and Gayle and to an extent to Rohit and Warner if pitches are on the flatter side.
