You are making this assumption of what? The couple matches he played for Pakistan, he played a vital knock of 62 in of them. Bowling needs improvement, and he is working on it. He had a pretty good domestic tournament recently. Can't just write someone off like that.

I don't have that disease of making assumptions. I just write what I see. Yeah, I saw that half century as well but may be you didn't. The team was Zimbabwe and in worse condition than what they are now. You might argue other Pak batsmen failing in that but even with that argument he didn't looked such a big deal. The overall package just didn't seem to be impressive. To me he appeared somewhat like that Bangali cricketer Khaled Mahmood type. If he is still that same cricketer who I had seen, then the real bowlers from the bigger team will just crush him.
If you have seen him doing better in the recent times so it would be good if you can share any video of his improved version.

Yamin's bowling is pretty harmless beyond the new ball. However he definitely has potential with the bat. Was one of Haroon Rasheed and Waqar Younis's many blunders in dropping him so soon after he scored a fifty away to Zimbabwe in a difficult situation.

We will never know until he is given a chance, in the few opportunities given to him, he hasn't failed to impress. Recently concluded domestic LO tournament, he had a few decent performances. We need him as an allrounder, a person who can hit in the lower order, and can bowl 5-6 overs regurly. Don't have a video, but the tournament was telecasted, sure you can find a video online somewhere.

In regards to Yamin an FC avg of just 33 and LOI avg of 26 in the batting and his bowling anyone can tell is below club level and nothing to write home about as far as the fielding is concerned and you think selectors don't understand the dynamics of this guy as well as you do. For their part they have been considerate to give him a contract with the national team and keep him under the vigilance just for that one inning of 62 against the world's lowest ranked LOI team. There are few good players coming up who are brilliant fielders too and the current bunch has started to look little better now,so he needs to match up with those better skilled guys. If he does raise his level to stake a claim through powerful performances then I think no Pak fan would ever complain about that.

Again you're saying that it is my "obsession with the word assumption" when again you're assuming. Someone like Razzaq also had similar stats to what Yamin has, does that mean we should have never played him as well? Like I have mentioned above, Yamin needs to improve on a few things, but that certainly doesn't mean that he is "not good enough."

You say he made a 62 versus the lowest rank side in ODI cricket, but he can only play and perform versus teams that he is picked to play against. He did perform decently well in the previous LO domestic tournament. Took wickets and scored crucial runs. My overall point is, don't write him off without giving him a proper chance, as is the case with any hard-working cricketer.
