"I want to perform (in PSL) and bring myself into contention for the T20 World Cup" : Zeeshan Ashraf
Zeeshan Ashraf at a press conference:
"I said I will play as I play any tournament or club cricket, so this was a way to wake me up and give myself confidence. The management also wakes you but until you don't do it yourself, you won't wake up. Allah gave me respect.
"Nobody likes losing so there is sadness about losing. If we had some wickets in hand at the end, or if Shahid bhai stayed with me, I think we could have made 30-35 more and that could have changed the match. There would be pressure on the opposition.
"Rossouw's dismissal cost us. Moeen bhai and Shahid bhai also. These are 3 main T20 players, if one of them did well then we could make 180+.
"It's not showing-off, every person has his own nature. He (Imran Tahir) gets people out, he has his own body language. I have mine and you have yours. He's a star. We should be proud that he's a star from Pakistan and that he's played for South Africa. We should be proud that a Pakistani player did well for South Africa.
"The pitch eased out. Even when I was batting, the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. There was the due factor also so bowlers try to bowl defensively. But you know that players like Ronchi are world class.
"The plan that is given to us by the coach, we play according to that. I am an opener but the plan is for me to bat at #5. I think that plan of me batting at #5 turned out well for the team today. We will play according to the coach's plan.
"Our Multan home crowd will support us fully and that will help us. I am from Okara so some of my friends will also be going to the matches.
"I was disappointed to get run out yesterday, it was my first match. I was also worried whether I could play at #5 but I decided that I will play and perform. When I got out, I was upset for 5 mins then I thought it's OK, I've played and I should chill now.
"I am a stroke-maker, not a power-hitter. I am working on wicket-keeping and I think in the first 2 matches I have done OK. My coach also said I kept well and Allah also helped me to play well. I want to perform and bring myself into contention for the T20 World Cup. I am hopeful that I will achieve that.
"I will perform with the bat. Kami bhai no doubt is doing well in PSL. Insha'Allah, I will also perform. He is a very good player, OK he is my senior, but I am competing with him. Insha'Allah, I will show what I can do and we both have our own fates."
