What's new

ICC CT 2017 | India v Pakistan | 4th June, 2017 | Birmingham | Pakistan innings

If the chase is reduced to 30 overs, the target will be 229 which is really good for Pakistan considering that the required runnrate is already almost 7

no way Pak chase full total. But like Ramiz said, they can end up forward on DL if they don't lose wickets.

That is the plan 1 I believe. One target at a time. Hit the odd boundaries, and keep the rate around 5-6 for first 20 overs and DO NOT lose wicket.

Pakistan can win this easily.. D/L par score after 20 over is 84/0 or 94/1 or 105/2. Keeping the wickets intact and running singles will win the match

This is a belter of a pitch. You dont realize how well the pakistanis (minus wahab) bowled for the 1st 44 overs.

If only 20 ov bowled target 173

If rain comes after 20 overs
To win Pak need to be...
104/0
114/1
128/2
146/3
168/4
194/5

That sounds far too easy, thought DL these days was pretty fair to both teams in all scenarios.

Target would be 230 if it's 30 over match mean we will need 200 in 25, only we had peak razzaq and Afridi.

The only chance Pakistan has is a reduced match to 20-25 overs.

Try blasting to a win.

They cant stroke 320 runs in 48 overs.

Aint happening that way.

Rain will just help us either win or get a point.

How much longer that rain have to persist for the match to be called off?

I wish if someone reveals the OFFICIAL D/L revised target for a 20-30 over game. I got the 30 overs 229 but where the rest is coming from?

We would have been only chasing 280-290 if we had Junaid istead of Wahab and Amir had bowled his 2 remaining overs.

DWL never helps in revise targets - it only helps in the match is stopped at mid point for good.

If PAK comes back for a short target,it'll be like 150 in 15/16 overs; but if it ends like PAK 120/1 after 20.2 overs, they steal a win. This is one flaw in DWL - I was surprised that in 2003 WC final, IND was actually winning at first break (around 150/2 in 23 or so overs, chasing 360).

But, I doubt if we get any game today - BBC weather is showing absolute down pour on Wolverhampton (north west of Birmingham) & in 4 hours time even heavier rain on North East - entire heavy cloud should pass over Edgbaston.

The target for Pakistan will be 289 from 41 overs as per the DLS method. Unconfirmed sources.. Scratch that. Quickly. The rain is back!

I wonder if the boys and management are really thinking logically about D/L possibilities in the changing room... I'm not convinced.

there is no fall of wicket and yet praying for rain

the total is not even much to be honest with a flat track

That is a big IF. My question is that if Pak somehow finds a way to beat Ind with D/L, why could they not do so with full 48 overs?

It's difficult to be consistent for longer period of times however it's comparatively easier to hack around for 20 overs.. Why do you think WI are so good at T20s and not that good in tests?

With 10 wickets in hand and only 20 overs to play people have license to go all out and couple of big hits unsettle bowlers and pressure goes right back at bowlers.. For any inferior team to beat a superior team shortest format is the easiest..

Pakistan should aim for a 20 over 1-2 wicket target first and hope for the best. This is a major handicap when chasing a D/L target.

They were 147/4 so weren't winning. But I agree with the rest.

What happened to we will thrash India ?

Play it out now and see your team win or lose fairly.

That was before they announced the 12 man squad yesterday and it had Wahab Riaz in it.

41 overs and 289 looked impossible.

30 overs 229 means 200 in 25 overs.

I am not sure if we have the batsmen to score 200 in 150 balls.

Why o why is this CT being held in England?

Imagine if we can sneak away with a point here. 1992 all over again. :imran

The rain is not helping Pak too much here.Wonder whether they are thinking of chasing the target or just to stay ahead of the DL par score.

Imagine if we win because we have the required score at 20 overs. shaz619 and I are gonna annoy the crap out of Indians

even less than that, should be chasing 260 i think if catches are taken also... Kohli was struggling to get his timing till the 45th over...

If Pakistan can sneak a point in this game through rain, they might gain confidence to win The Champions Trophy.

Then again, how do you win with 3 bowlers and 2 batsmen....

We also lost against RSA a very winnable game for an impossible target against RSA - That is how I look at that WC unlike pessimists. Justice done in the end.

Why on earth ICC organised this event in England, knowing fully well what happened last time?

Atleast should have been held after June.
