I have a feeling he will bowl quite well here In sha Allah. He knows these conditions very well and have done quite well here before.

1st up is India, hopefully he will get that beautiful shape he got in Bangladesh after his comeback.

Good luck!

These pitches are absolute roads! Today the weather was overcast all game, serious clouds . . and Southee, Boult and Starc who all swing the ball prodigiously (especially boult and southee) were not able to swing it at all . . Southee and Boult reverted to back of a length . . so these conditions are definitely not "english" by any stretch of the imagination . . plus the Kookaburra ball doesn't help . . Hence, I am not expecting magic from Amir or any bowler for that matter . . this tournament is about Batsmen vs. Batsmen . . bowlers are just there to complete 50 overs . .

The flatness of a pitch doesn't affect swing. It's the cricket ball that's the problem and only the cricket ball. Grass on a pitch helps the ball keep its shape and lacquer for longer but there should always be new ball swing in such conditions.

I meant . . no lateral movement off the pitch cuz the pitches are roads . . and typically, overcast conditions in England mean the ball swings . . (albeit its the duke that they use there) . . so as you say "there should always be new ball swing in such conditions" . . but today, 2 of the best swing bowlers going around southee and boult were not able to swing it at all . . so! I am not expecting much from Amir either . .

Sometimes there is no swing in the bowl but in the minds of the batsman. Amir has had the better of Sharma in recent times and those things start to play on a batsman's mind.

They're using the Kookaburra. The Dukes is only for test matches. In LOIs, Kookaburra is used universally.

A superb spell today knocking over 3 of India's top order batsmen. That spell to Kohli was breathtaking stuff.

I was willing to be patient with Amir because its not easy coming back from 5 years of absence. You can see the coaches have worked with him on his action and movements at the crease - he had to learn everything all over again.

Hopefully he can continue to kick on.
